Chris Wood
What is his actual injury, where we not led to believe he was close about three games ago,if Lennon signs we need him fit, should be a cracking combination those two.

Re: Chris Wood
Looks like no one knows what his injury is,does he still play for us?
Re: Chris Wood
Same with Ward tbh - I've never seen anything official about either injury as to specifics. Shame.

Re: Chris Wood
You have to question the wisdom of buying a player who is an international and whose native country is the other side of the globe. The disruption caused by international duties is difficult to bear when we can't afford to be lashing out on the extensive squads others can afford. From what I remember is that he has medial ligament damage/strain. At the moment it isn't looking like good value for £15 million.

Yep great point - that's why we need to stay away from signing Messi, Aguero, and Sanchez.Hendrickxz wrote:You have to question the wisdom of buying a player who is an international and whose native country is the other side of the globe. We are much better going for a Scottish striker...or even better a really crap one who has no chance of playing for their country

He is, in my opinion, without doubt our best striker.

Re: Chris Wood
Very little has been said other than it's his knee. He picked up the injury in the collision with Hugo Lloris and Sean Dyche said at the next press conference that he was being assessed. This is one injury during which he's never been described as touch and go.

Presume he’s going to be out for some time if that’s the case? Same with Ward?Reecey1987 wrote:Somebody asked boden yesterday he said its medial knee ligament injury

Re: Chris Wood
If that is the case a top striker becomes priority number one. For all the love they get on here Ash & Sam are not PL quality goalscorers. Both good at what they do but neither bags enough.FactualFrank wrote:I read similar the other day. Could well be next season we see him.

not so Tony...I heard Dyche (in interview) refer to Wood as 'touch and go' after the Spurs game.ClaretTony wrote:Very little has been said other than it's his knee. Re: Chris Wood
If Wood injury is serious and with Walters now out for at least two months we need a goal scorer on loan and someone vastly different to Barnes & Vokes.
Sadly Sam is no where near as sharp for a PL striker. A loan would work-someone who cannot get a game at present ie any of the Liverpool fringe strikers
If we had a natural striker like Ings or Austin yesterday, then JBG's cross across the 6 yard line would have been converted. Instead Tarks was the nearest to that ball
We also need to find a better No10 option to now

Stand corrected - he said he was going to be assessed before the Man U game but did say he had a chance for Huddersfield. But, of course, the words between those two games were all recorded before Christmas and at that point he probably thought he could be OK for Huddersfield.

Re: Chris Wood
No it wouldn't - it took a deflection off a defender and went out for what should have been a corner. Once it's deflected we couldn't get onto it.warksclaret wrote:If we had a natural striker like Ings or Austin yesterday, then JBG's cross across the 6 yard line would have been converted. Hit the corner flag and went out for a throw.
Still managed to take the throw a good ten yards from the flag.

Re: Chris Wood
That's true. Like most people I was berating JBG for not getting the cross quite right, but only when I saw it again did I see how unlucky he was as it brushes the defenders knee and deflects JUST out of Tark's reach.ClaretTony wrote:No it wouldn't - it took a deflection off a defender and went out for what should have been a corner. No, your point is you weren't aware of the deflection.warksclaret wrote:My point was where were our "natural predator" strikers at the time !!!
Re: Chris Wood
Just lucky defending saved a certain goal. SD mentions fine margins a lot and that was a classic example.

Probably the only one you could describe as that type of player would be Wells, so he was on the bench !warksclaret wrote:My point was where were our "natural predator" strikers at the time !!!

Wasn't lucky though. He tried throwing himself at the ball to get something on it and prevent a chance. His efforts were rewarded by getting something on it and preventing a chance. How do you attribute that to luck?bfcjg wrote:Just lucky defending saved a certain goal. SD mentions fine margins a lot and that was a classic example.
