Ideally a CB and striker.

Need - a number 10
Would be nice - CB, the next Tarky. Possibly another striker depending on the Wood injury length.
If those came in, it would be a fantastic window.
I expect 1 or 2 exits too, to be honest.

Jozo Simunovic, Joe Worrall or Tomas Kalas at Centre half for me.
Also need another striker. It might be pushing the boat out but I would make a move for Moussa Dembele at Celtic. I think that a move to us would be the right step on both parts. He gets PL football but at a club where he will be supported, where there’s a stable management and board in place, where. The club is progressing steadily and where he’ll be able to develop.

Back up/one for the future centre half and a No.10 type player/creative forward
Strange how we always seem to have obvious positions we need to fill.
Nice that we seem to get them though and we are now after good subs.

When he signed for West Ham it was widely reported he was on a weekly sum of over £100K.
No chance.

Read the spoof news article about Moussa Dembele this morning, the more I think about it, and the different roles he could play, the better the idea seems.
Less than no chance it will happen though.

It’s reported he wants away, West Ham want shut, maybe some sort of deal could be brokered, wether they pay part of his wage for 12 months, he takes a paycut but with a bigger bonus. Or even a loan deal.
Don’t know enough about football dealings, that’s why I mentioned “testing the water “ .

I don't think that we'll be able to stretch enough for a centre back and a forward in this window.
We 'still' need a centre back, but the forward department will need a good looking at in the summer.

Agree with BOT.
Get a centre half this window. Have a look at the striking department in the summer. Small argument that you could turn over all bar Wood (we won’t) but might see Vokes, Wells and Walters move on and two come in.

Not sure that we couldn’t stretch to it - our spend this season hasn’t been excessive by any stretch of the imagination.
In an ideal world, I’d rather we got a striker, centre half and number ten in now. Gives longer to bed players in. Depends what is available and for how much of course.

Re: Lennon in, next........
We got two singings last season in Brady and Westwood (not counting Barton's breif absense and free return)
This Jan we've got Lennon signed and the N'KouDou on loan. I can only see a Center Back: Tarky type, not a flashy name but solid 'one for the future', provide competition, depth whilst learning the system.
No10 I can't see Dyche moving before the summer, shown a lot of loyalty to Hendrick and the position we find ourselves in means we can afford not to rush into a deal.
Strikers I can't see us moving with the numbers we've got, Dyche should surely explore his options first, playing Wells longer and a fit Woods with new support from the midfield.

The stiker is needed now even if Wood got fit tomorrow. We have no quality up front to score goals regularly enough. Wood MIGHT be if the two new lads come good. By the way if both new boys play who's out? Surely not Gudmondsson? Arfield probably. Hendrick? The new guys aren't number 10s. One to puzzle over.Bin Ont Turf wrote:I don't think that we'll be able to stretch enough for a centre back and a forward in this window.

We should go and beat Newcastle to the signing of Nicolai Jorgensen, 26 goals in 43 appearances for Feyenoord who won the league last year.

Re: Lennon in, next........
So I assume you are happy to see out the season in mid-table with nothing to play for? Why is a CB needed for a team that concedes few goals more than a striker in a team that can't score? We need a striker NOW to press on for a top ten finish and maybe sneak into a European spot. If we bring in a CB he's only going to be cover for Tarks and Mee unless we spent money we haven't got and even then would we get any better? I know we could do with cover but we are not THAT desperate. However a decent PL quality striker would stroll into our side unopposed. It's there for all to see and I just can't understand why so many people are obsessed with our GOOD defence needing reinforcements while feeling quite content with our almost non-existent strike force.Bin Ont Turf wrote:The forward isn't 'needed now', but the centre back is.
We'll need more goals next season though.
It's all very well having a watertight defence (which we pretty much have) but when that defence occasionally lets in a goal we seem unable to pull it back just now. That's why we need a striker who is reliable because you cannot have a team totally reliant on defence. Look at our stats over the last 7 league games and it tells its own story - we've conceded 8 (which is not a disaster considering 3 against Spurs so only 5 in the other 6) but we have scored only 3 goals - yes that's three) and 2 of those were in one game at United. 3 out of our last 4 have been blanks. We are not leaking goals at all but we are desperately short of them and it's going to cost us if we don't fix it because just a few places in the PL means far more money, not to mention that we could, just about, sneak into Europe and get even more cash.

Why will it come back to bite us? Pray tell. We have a good mix of experienced pros and a smattering of young players in and around the squad so we are doing things correctly at the moment, our league position and healthy finances are testament to this.ablueclaret wrote:For heavens sake let's see some young talent, we've forgotten all about that it will come back to bite us.

I don't think we'll sign a centre-back. Prices are probably going to be inflated as teams aren't going to want to lose a centre back at this stage and what we're hopefully looking at, a good young Championship centre-half to come through the ranks, is probably starting for their club. If it wasn't viewed as that big a priority in summer I think the view will be that we can hold out till next summer given our current position.

Have to disagree with you. Our defence and midfield have shown they're more than capable.Bin Ont Turf wrote:The forward isn't 'needed now', but the centre back is.

But we are having problems scoring goals, especially with Wood out so for me that should be the priority. Scoring more goals would also take pressure off the defence.

Re: Lennon in, next........
Because expectations have exceeded reality. I know where I'd like to see us finish but am realistic enough to accept that it's unlikely to be maintained. Mid-table would be a huge improvement on last year and probably keep us more grounded for the future than would a higher finish. Incremental improvement seems to be the mantra we are following and I'm more than happy with that.houseboy wrote:
