Newcastle predictions...

Post by LoveCurryPies » Mon Jan 29, 2018 2:36 pm

I am always an optimist, however I also try to be a realist. We have a number of recent signing (including Sean) and a great Club spirit. The owners, board & directors, the manager and his staff, our players and (most of) our fans are united in determination and direction.

Newcastle on the other hand have ownership problems and disagreements between manager and Club, and that's probably why they are relegation candidates. Now, I like Newcastle as a Club. Think the Premier league is better with them in.

That said, I am hoping for a decisive Claret's victory and a game with us scoring several goals, reflecting Sean's improved upfront options.

Your thoughts?

Dyche will start with the same 11 as last game. We probably won't score, and if we do it will be a scrappy late one.

One of my mates has already predicted she will be drunk by 5pm..
Unfortunately I won't be drinking so I'll just content myself with laughing at her instead.

I don't think there will be many goals in it, I'd go with a 1-1 draw at best.

Wow, I do find the lack of belief in the team to be quite shocking and sad.

I predict that we'll rip them a new one and it will be a big victory for us away from home.

score 0-3 Barnes, Defour, Mee

I'm feeling confident about this one.

A boring draw, we might even score.

1-1 set play

Just looked at the bookie's odds: 6/5 Newcastle win, 29/10 Clarets win, 11/5 the draw; surprises me does that. Newcastle are having difficulty scoring in home league games and we have a tight defence. Against that, I can't see their defence holding out for 90 minutes without a mistake or two.
I'll be having a bet on 0-1, a Clarets win as per the reverse fixture (17/2 at the mo).

As per usual, there are some interesting pairings in this round of games; hopefully, WHU v Palace on Tuesday and Everton v Leic on Wednesday will be draws. It'd be interesting too if Southampton lost at home to Brighton- with a then "relegation 6 pointer" away game to WBA at the weekend.

Problem is, our defence can't go 90 minutes without a mistake: see Palace, Man Utd, Liverpool games recently

If we play like we did against Man U we will win 2-0. If we sit back and make sure we don't concede for 20 minutes but offer nothing ourselves that'll give Newcastle all the encouragement they need. If ever an opponent was set up to get stuck into from the first whistle its this current Newcastle team.

Man U & Liverpool.

Most defences don’t go 90 mins without a mistake.

1-0 Newcastle in a tight uninspiring game where they're happy with the points and we moan about tight margins.

Scored 6 conceded 13 in our last 10 games.

The statistics suggest it's going to be tough.

So, if Defour is injured then I change my mind...

0-1 Barnes - and it'll be tight.

1-0 Newcastle.

Mainly because of the loss of Defour, I think he'll be a big miss.

Has the potential to be an absolute shocker on Wednesday. I'm going for nil nil with barely an effort on target.

2:1 to the Clarets. Mee from a corner, Ash from a penalty to win it after coming from behind.

DC. Try the Crown Posada on Side or the nearby Bridge Tavern. Proper old pubs with proper beer.

As for predictions, it will snow during the game.

Cheers. A bunch of us up on the train early and staying over and we generally follow the recommendations found in the GBH. I'm sure those will be on our list!

At full strength I think we’d ease past these about 0-2,but with Defour and maybe Tarks added to the injury list it leaves is a bit of a mismatched mess .I can picture one of our godawul Arfield/Barnes type teams huffing and puffing and losing narrowly . That said if Tarks make it and SD debuts either Lennon ( unlikely) or Nkodou( possible) we could be very lively indeed.

0 - 2 and our first penalty of the year

the team will be changed and bring a freshness, plus opposition confusion due to new personnel in different positions, leading to a good performance throughout the Clarets.

A thoroughly dull 0-0, with neither keeping having to make a real save.
