St.James' Park Questions

Post by Blackrod » Wed Jan 31, 2018 4:06 pm

Been before but not in away end or recently. Managed to tie in a business trip with the game and first time I will have seen the Clarets play there. What is view like for away fans as seems high up ? What is the food like and what beer is available in the stand / at the ground ? Thanks

Arrive early - it will take you 30 minutes to walk up all the stairs !!
I am staying at the Sandman Signature Hotel approximately 20 yards from the Stadium but will be leaving the hotel at 6 p.m.

I stay in the Sandman most weeks on business. Unfortunately couldn’t get trips to coincide for tonight. Make sure you visit the Shark Bar. Great ales, decent food, think it is chicken wing night tonight :) and the service is pretty special :)

Views great if you have 20/20 vision and are not a Mr Magoo like myself, however the slightly blurry vision of a 1-1 draw on my first visit to St. James park will stay with me forever, especially as I can see clearly what actually happened on my Sky Sports app.

Didn't really fancy a can of lukewarm beer for £4.60 so had a bottle of water for £2 instead, another first.

Glad I took my crampons with me. I needed a beer after that climb. Binoculars came in handy too. It was like going to an event instead of a football match. It's lost something good. Nothing like going to Turf Moor.

It's so high up that there is a satellite delay to the pictures on the big screen.

Oh, the irony of MrTopTier complaining about being sat in the top tier...

The Shark Bar. Folk celebrating a lifting sticky carpet joint and paying 4.50 a pint because the staff are wearing low cut tops...

Nearby are some of the best pubs and nightlife in the country - the Shark Bar stinks (literally). It serves a purpose though insomuch as it keeps a good number of knuckle draggers out of the more respectable establishments.

Hope you found it in yourself to take in some more of Newcastle on your trip. If so you'll have found it's not just full of ****** up lads ogling and downing crap lager.

It's the highest I've ever been for a match and I was close to the front. The bloke behind me said he was in the top tier at Man City and said that was higher than Newcastle. Not been in there but I'd be amazed if it was.

Been at the back in both and I’d say St James is definitely higher
