I personally thought he was absolutely appalling… But it's all about opinions and I kindly request that if you were at the game, you offer your ratings and therefore, bring some balance to the feature. Cheers.

Just toss tonight, he appeared intent on giving Mason a run for his money.
I expected him to disallow our equaliser.

Out of his class, overweight, poor eyesight (apparently)
Should stick to the NW Counties' League

Allowed the players to ref the game, overweight and unable to keep up with play, indecisive and unimpressive.

Absolutely dire. I’ve not seen the highlights back but should the corner leading to our goal have been a corner? He gave a goal kick for a blatant corner about 10 minutes earlier.

I was there. Thought it was Roger East initially as hadn’t brought my binoculars! Very poor ref and yes definitely looked overweight.

His first PL game apparently and unfortunately it showed. How he could not give us a penalty for the foul on Cork I found incredible. It was up there with the none award at Huddersfield

Re: RATE THE REF - Simon Hooper v Newcastle United
Not quite his first. He refereed the opening PL game of the 2016/7 season between Norwich and Crystal Palace. This was not a great success because he controversially disallowed a Norwich goal which was scored when a player hooked the ball over his shoulder. The ref disallowed the goal because there was a Palace defender in the vicinity, although he was stooping. He has not refereed a PL game since until last night, however, it is possible that he will be promoted to the SG1 group.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote:His first PL game apparently and unfortunately it showed. I sincerely hope not, he was very poor last night.

Re: RATE THE REF - Simon Hooper v Newcastle United
Two and a half years since his first Premier League game and, judging on last night, his second should be his last. Awful, and must be the least fit referee in the entire leagues.

Re: RATE THE REF - Simon Hooper v Newcastle United
The 'foul' on Cork wasn't a foul. He simply fell over, and Cork fell over him.
Barnes then pushed their defender. Yes, he went down softly, but Barnes pushed him. Foul.

Re: RATE THE REF - Simon Hooper v Newcastle United
I thought he was appalling really, the only decision he got right were the disallowed Barnes goal and the penalty against Bardsley. Didn't give us a corner when it was pretty obvious, just poor.

So he tripped Cork? That’s a penalty.UpTheBeehole wrote:The 'foul' on Cork wasn't a foul. He simply fell over, and Cork fell over him.
