Billy Mercer and Pep
At the end of the game I saw Billy and Pep having words.
Anyone see any needle?
It could of course just been all friendly. Still, part of me wanted Billy to stick the head on him.

Yes, saw that. There certainly seemed to be an intense debate over something. I think they both chuckled a bit at the end. Seemed friendly enough.Bin Ont Turf wrote:At the end of the game I saw Billy and Pep having words.

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
When Dyche and Pep walked over to eachother, I half expected a 'Nathan Redmond'. But I think he thought better of it.

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
As I said on the Sean Dyche thread where it was mentioned
"There was nothing aggressive about that, watched it on my stream - they were having a chat and as we have seen previously Pep gets very animated when he is enthusiastic - suspect Mercer was talking to him about the quality of his keeper both on the ball and his shot stopping skills. Both were smiling broadly"

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
I was watching this, Pep went to shake hand with Ian Moan after Dyche but my first thought was that somebody got in the way, with Moan not spotting Dyche. So I thought Pep was telling Mercer that he tried to shake his hand.
Moan then headed straight for the tunnel, I wonder if they had a falling out during the game that I’d missed.
PS, I know I spelt Moans name wrong

No problems with Pep, maybe a backhanded compliment to say we're the
"most British of teams" but he was a lot more gracious than lots of PL
managers who've been denied by the mighty Clarets.

Well if that's correct and depending on what's being said and the context (and remembering that he's part of a great team), then Sean needs to be having a word and telling him to wind his neck in.cricketfieldclarets wrote:He often has a dig at the fans in bob lord.

Let's face it, there's various bellends on here telling us what SD should be doing.
If they get as close to him as the dugout, they'll have a field day.

Generally it’s due to perhaps a misplaced pass that creates a natural sigh or a Noam around the ground, not just the BL.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Well if that's correct and depending on what's being said and the context (and remembering that he's part of a great team), then Sean needs to be having a word and telling him to wind his neck in.
Woan generally pulls a face and does the calm down hands at the Bob Lord.
To be clear, the way we are playing and performing, he can light his own farts in the managers box for all i care, however he isn’t quite linking with the fans.

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
Woan did a big fist pump and "get in" to the home fans in the CFS who were singing the players off at the end of the game.
Maybe if the Bob Lorders actually got behind the team with some vocal encouragement you'd get a better response too?

You must be delighted, well done CFS.Father Jack wrote:Woan did a big fist pump and "get in" to the home fans in the CFS who were singing the players off at the end of the game.

The reaction from the fans at a misplaced pass or wasted opportunity can be heard from all parts of the ground, even the CFS, although it does come across much faster from your end.

Shame you can't hear a concerted effort to get behind the team across the ground too...
But the atmosphere is often dead everywhere bar the CFS. We all know it. And clearly Woan appreciates it.

I’m sure I read somewhere that one of the main reasons Dyche signed his contract was in fact the atmosphere that the CFS generates, particularly from popular songs such as” where were you when” and “you let your country down”Father Jack wrote:Shame you can't hear a concerted effort to get behind the team across the ground too...

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
A couple of years back I was walking my dog up the path/track that leads up from Gawthorpe Hall to the top lodge house next to Habergham Church. It was the day before we were due to play Forest at home in the League. I was half way up when Woan came running by. He said “Hi”, to which I said in jest, “I hope there’s no divided loyalties for tomorrow’s match.” To which he smiled and said, “No bloody fear!” before running on.
We won one nil, courtesy of a Sam Vokes goal.

But some vocal backing clearly did help the team yesterday and look at the outcome.
I've given you an example Woan praising the crowd for doing exactly the thing that the Bob Lord don't but you don't like it as it doesn't suit your agenda

Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
I don’t have any agenda at all, take your time to read the thread, the discussion was around the conversation between Pep and Mercer- I thought it was due to Pep not getting a chance to shake hands with Woan. As above I wasn’t aware that pep and woan had some history from the away game.Father Jack wrote:No one said it made Dyche sign a contract.

I’m really not sure what you are trying to find to argue about, but good luck.
The Bob Lord stand from what I could tell yesterday were right behind the team, very positive support for the players. There was no problem with Woan during the game yesterday.

Now we can expect complaints about Woan swearing at the fans, perhaps?Lord Beamish wrote:A couple of years back I was walking my dog up the path/track that leads up from Gawthorpe Hall to the top lodge house next to Habergham Church. Re: Billy Mercer and Pep
Managers and assistants have always had a love / hate relationship with those behind them in the Bob Lord. Cotterill used to spend a good half an hour a game arguing with fans rather than watching the game,

I know... let's just all get on and support the team in 7th place.
