I mean, it's all well and good to like say oh look Leeds are appointing a **** manager who has no credentials. Look what the guy who was at Watford for 49 games did for us.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
But Leeds get 30k watching a game and have loads of away fans and get shown on Sky all the time and deserve to be in the Premier League way more than all those silly little tinpot clubs... so surely they can attract Pep or Jose?
I bloody love laughing at that joke of a club and their brainwashed fans these days! So satisfying!

Anyone under 50 years old knows Leeds as a functional team which has been between the first and third tiers and has a natural home in the Championship.
We, on the other hand, are more at ease in our natural home

Re: Leeds go for big name.
This 'Leeds are a massive club' thing. Actually heard it with my own ears tonight on TalkSpowt - deluded Leeds fan on moaning about the lack of high calibre managers coming through the doors at Elland Rd - to such a massive club.
Both Durham and Gough totally rinsed him. They were laughing at him so much it was actually quite rude.
Dont usually like them two but on this occasion was funny.

Were starting to sound like Blackburn fans... Leeds are a bigger club than us in support, and in the domestic trophies won and faired better in Europe than Burney. That said I'm a Burnley fan so f..ck em!

If you're going to measure the size of a club by the area they are based in, then Exeter and Torquay are bigger than Burnley.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
Leeds are potentially one of the Top 10 Teams in England. Right now, they are nowhere near that, and will not be until they are put under stable control at Owner Level. I personally hope that this never happens and that they wallow about in their own funk for years and years to come.

Didn’t spend long enough in league one to learn some humility.
Classless. Utterly classless. “Dirty” is absolutely bang on when talking about this horrible club.
Let’s not forget, they started all this cheating the game is riddled with now.

Living in Yarkshire I hear Heckinbottom often on the local radio, he comes across very well. If he does get the job he may be the man that can do it for them, I hope I'm wrong of course.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
Friday 2nd Feb - Paul Heckingbottom signs new deal as Barnsley manager
Tuesday 6th February - Paul Heckingtbottom appointed as new head coach at Leeds
Barnsley far from happy with developments and have said on their site that they are both shocked and thoroughly disappointed.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
What planet do Leeds fans live on. The big club syndrome is more wasted on them than almost any other club (with the exception of West 'Am). Before Revie they were a nothing club and post Revie they have returned to the mire. Leeds are in the same stable as the 'Ammers and the Toon, nothing clubs with very short or even non-existent historical success despite their support. Leeds had a brief spell in the sunlight for about 10 years or less. Before and after - nothing. I am surprised though that some numpty in the media is not linking Dyche to the job, like he would leave a top 7 PL club for an outfit as wragged and farcical as this shower.CHEWBACCA wrote:winkers

Re: Leeds go for big name.
And with comments like that from the lovely Leeds fan you wonder why we all aren't overly keen on them.
One of many, many reasons why SD wouldn't even contemplate a move to Leeds is he knows if he didn't win his first 5 games 5 nil then he'd be sacked by the mad owners there.
Has Heckingbottom signed a long term deal? Long term in Leeds language will be a 4 week contract of course.

Yeah, they're massive in regards to trophies won....Leeds United have won three First Division league titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup.
The club has also won two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups (UEFA Cup original name)
Burnley have been Football League Champions twice, in 1920–21[2] and 1959–60,[3] have won the FA Cup once, in 1914, and have won the Community Shield twice, in 1960 and 1973.
Re: Leeds go for big name.
Heckingbottom done a good job at Barnsley with next to no resources. Had to sell about 4 of his best players in January last season as well and kept them up comfortably.

It gets better.
Paul Heckingbottom once told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he ‘hated’ Leeds United growing up and that the size of the Yorkshire club’s support is always ‘rammed down your throat’.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
Asked to name a club more despised nationally than Leeds you couldn't.
You'd maybe come up with some close runners-up, especially if you included Scotland, but Leeds have gone about their business in completely the wrong way for over 40 years. Reap what you sow.

Re: Leeds go for big name.
I think this highlights the good sense in securing Sean Dyche's services on a long term contract. Heckingbottom signed a new One Year Rolling Contract for Barnsley FC last week. He's apparently moved to Leeds for an 18 month Contract. I bet the Board at Oakwell wish they'd have been able to tie him to a longer contract now.
Re: Leeds go for big name.
I doubt it would make any difference. The only thing that might help would be some sort of release clause. It seems Barnsley had one but it was for £500,000.
