Agree mostly but The Voice doesn't do sob stories as such as the auditions are 'blind' and the judges don't know anything about the contestant until they turn, making any sob story irrelevant. They sometimes are even unsure of the gender.

Films where the main star is playing a policeman of some description and no matter how old they are, there is always a scene where they chase some young kid on foot, wearing flat shoes and manage to catch up to them without being out of breath in the slightest. Following this they will go alone into a bar full of massive sweaty bikers and manage to intimidate all of them just because they happen to be a policeman.
