Re: Nkoudou
Feel bad for the guy. I'm sure he just wants to play and try to impress Poch.
Re: Nkoudou
Agreed, we're stalling his career and wasting his time, not even given a chance. Dyche just doesn't like loan players IMO. Chalobah, Keane (while on loan) and Flanagan all barely got a sniff.

Or give him longer than 10 minutes when we're playing awful and losing.
Re: Nkoudou
Impressed in his 10 minute cameo vs United. Certainly offers more than Arfield.BabylonClaret wrote:To be honest im not sure we would miss him
Here's an idea, why not actually start him and try to win the game?

Panic addition.
Crawl the way to May by spending as little as possible was the objective.
We are safe, why make the accountant work when there's no need.

Re: Nkoudou
I read that quite a bit on here. About how him and Wells were pointless transfers, but unless you can see into the future, we wouldn't have known that at the time. And any more injuries and they could well be needed to start.BabylonClaret wrote:To be honest im not sure we would miss him
The thing is with bringing people into a squad, it's sometimes for one reason only: The "What if" scenario. What if both Vokes and Barnes suffered an injury, we'd need Wells. It hopefully won't happen, but I'd sure prefer to have someone at the club who probably will hardly ever play, but be there just in case.. than to not bother bringing him in, in the first place and hope it doesn't come back to bite us.
Re: Nkoudou
He's never started, and we havnt won in 11 games, just give the lad a chance ffs.BabylonClaret wrote:Because hes probably not quite good enough. The first atart he had i thoight he looked good. But last two he's not shown anything. Although to be faor its been b little time.

Re: Nkoudou
It's a bit early to be trying to call it one way or the other. It could also be he's still settling in to what is expected of him. It could be SD doesn't think he's the kind of player to throw into a team struggling for form. I'll give it another week or two to see what SD is doing and why.

I love how you would rather support a Spurs player who is here on loan, than our manager who has taken us from near the bottom of the Championship to 7th in the Prem just cos we are on a difficult run where we have played some tough games with some very good players missing.Murger wrote:He's never started, and we havnt won in 11 games, just give the lad a chance ffs.

Re: Nkoudou
Not sure how anyone can say he has been wasted. As FactualFrank says we need players in for cover and i have no problem with that.
I just havent seen enough that makes me think he is a saviour. Hes certainly not better than JGB or Lennon.
Mind you (as I said above yet most people seem to have ignored) its still early and hes not had much game time to show this.

Re: Nkoudou
Nkoudo, flanagan, chlaobah, bamford and kakalanic must have started less than 10 between them.
Its odd. Why bother. I bet they cost a couple of million each in fees. Thats an expensive insurance policy.
Nkoudou like chalobah before him clearly has something. We will struggle for loanees in the future no doubt.

Re: Nkoudou
I think if we don't score many in our next two or three games and say only pick up one point
then Dyche will have to try something different and the only option he's got is to try out Nkoudou
and/or Wells. Wood may be back by then hopefully but we can't expect him to suddenly make the difference
especially if we're not creating enough goal scoring chances.

Re: Nkoudou
Dyche shows too much loyalty towards contracted players. I get that it’s for confidence and belief, but if you get a player on loan who could change a game then you play them.
I’ve loved Arfield since he’s been here, he’s been brilliant (important goals!), but it’s time to move on. Start with GK and let him have a run. Put JBG when Hendrick’s shadow has been playing.

Re: Nkoudou
He could be another Darikwa on the training field for all we fans know, looks to have some skill and flair but doesn't fit 'the framework'
Would like to see more of him though, if we are indeed 'safe' then what have we got to lose?
There's a saying that if you keep doing what you're doing you'll keep getting what you're getting.
Despite the commendable big picture situation of 7th in the league l'm sure SD is as unhappy as anyone with a run of 10 games without a win so why not shuffle the personnel at his disposal a bit to try and change that?

Moan Moan Moan....all you ever do is MOAN!
Maybe Swansea set up right to nullify us?........Maybe they needed it more?
Maybe we just weren't at our best?.....Things not dropping just right!
MAYBE we are still experimenting with our forced [through injuries] new line up?
Maybe no ones to BLAME?.......Ever thought of that?
We are the smallest team in the league and we're 7th....get a grip you bunch of Wankers!

Re: Nkoudou
Absolutely no chance that this lad is going to start games for Burnley. Bizarre signing in a poor January window.
Re: Nkoudou
Said it before and will say it again we wasted 5 million on Wells ,he was injured ,wasn’t going to play for Huddersfield again , no other club was interested.FactualFrank wrote:I read that quite a bit on here. Gudmundsson arguably best player since Jan...
Unless he's going in the number 10spot I'd rather just see GK introduced with 20-30 mins to okay instead of 10. Doesn't necessarily need to start

Well apart from the cracking start to the season we had.
Re: Nkoudou
I would try Lennon or Nkoudou behind the striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation.
Rest Hendrick for a couple of games. Play Taylor at left half as he has shown he can defend, attack and is a good tackler.
Lowton Tarks Mee Ward
JBG Westwood Cork Taylor
Lennon/Nkoudou
Barnes/Vokes/Wood

Re: Nkoudou
My impression of Nkoudou from his brief appearances to date is that he's tremendously talented whrn carrying the ball, but for a host of reasons- composure, awareness and maturity for 3 - he's less talented when it comes to linking with teammates and matching his abilities to end product. That will come with time but it may well not be there yet.
That isn't to say he has nothing to offer. He's a really valuable option to have against a team who are defending narrow and in zones and against whom we need to commit defenders and pin them back. Probably more often than not when we're behind.
But he's no finished article. We must be realistic about what he offers. Given he's effectively an inferior version of Lennon, on a day 2hen Lennon has been neutralized, its a stretch to imagine Nkoudou would have been more effective.
If Lennon has been our greatest threat yesterday I'd understand this clamour for Nkoudou to have got longer, but given that's not the case it strikes me that it's more about him being new, exciting and unknown - people aren't as familiar with his limits as they are with the likes of Arfield.
