Maybe a better effort to win a quite winnable away game than what we saw today?

We still have that chance. I would have settled for staying up at the beginning of the season so a real chance of top 10 is brilliant.

Worrying part for me is with our current injuries it would be just like us to have fought through the hard fixture list we have had since Christmas, with one eye on the patch of potentially winnable games we are about to begin, and end up doing worse. Remember being a Claret means we have to do it the hard way. By the way I think we will stay up but not as comfortable as some think, as I don't think 40 points will be enough with the form of the bottom sides and how compact the table is coming. But I still remind my son this is dream land for a Clarets fan at the moment.

We do, but our awful run of form is seeing that diminish, week on week. I too would have settled for similar at the start of the season, but a by Christmas, I feel we should have been adjusting our goals. I realise we’ve had a run of bad luck with injuries, but today’s damp quib of a performance is very disheartening. It shows that our Manager’s trusted Framework is sometimes a real hindrance to success.

Are you seriously suggesting that a poor performance in a winnable game shouldn't be criticised?

How selfish of us, let's all "think" like you.

We're still pretty much conceding a goal a game with the odd exception.

Just need to be a little more creative, but apart from Newcastle we've been playing teams in good form.

Considering it's the tactics of Dyche that have got us up to 7th after 27 matches I'd say they are spot on!

0 wins since the start of December, 6 points above 12th. People are deluded if they think we will finish anywhere near 7th this season.

Is it just coincidence that our bad run has coincided with us being so badly hit with injuries?

During this poor run we have often been missing 5 or 6 of our regular starting 11 plus 2 who would have been on our bench

What do you expect?

See the the 40 points thread.

For the record, it was West Ham in 2002-03.

I think it is a real shame that we have had so many injuries for the second part of the season. It would have been fantastic to see what we could have achieved with Brady, Wood, Defour and Lennon all playing together. Still there's a lot to be hopeful for next season.

Short of losing the next eleven games we are safe. But it’s not great is it? Absolutely dire football from a spectators point of view. It does the job for now. Next season will be interesting to say the least if we don’t add to the goals for column. And that will be a shame.

Rubbish, every chance.

But we need to start winning games again. Hopefully a few players returning from injuries will help.

Was it really a winnable game ?

On current points gained based on last six matches were 19th in the form league .. and over 10 matches bottom !!

Meanwhile Swansea are 6th over six matches and 11th over 20

Points gained last 6 matches SWANSEA 11pts .. CLARETS 2pts

If you go off form table to judge a winnable game, you'd expect we wouldn't win another all season. The teams we will face would all predict an easy win.

Winnable game is that where the opposition is either similar in ability, or below that of yourself.

Swansea fall into that category.
The fact they made us look a toothless shadow of a premier league side has more to do with our approach and tactics, than them being world beaters.

Not moaning about it, but you can see why teams like West Brom and Stoke (before this season obviously!) got to forty points and then just fell apart.

We are no different, the team are safe, the manager knows we are safe and we are struggling a bit to match the very high standards we set at the start of the season. Injuries certainly haven't helped as well.

Swansea were favs to win the game .. and arguably they had a lot more to play for than us, add in the injuries to our most creative players( Defour and Brady both played when we beat them 2-0 ) .. and it's not as straightforward as you suggest

But yes they aren't workd beaters .. and it was a match to forget ..

On the plus side, apart from compared to Leicester, our GD is better than the rest.
At £2m per place it could come in handy.

It’s nice not to be concerned about relegation and enjoy the games more as they come rather than stressing about must win games. I know it’s not great not winning many games currently, but I’m sure when injures players are back and give us increased depth we should see good end to season

Really in the position we’re in, these away games that we’ve lost 1-0 at Palace and Swansea were free hits.

We’re too negative, particularly in the Swansea game this weekend.

We’d already settled for the point at half time.

The subject title should be: How the hell are we still 7th?

It’s looking like a top 10 finish is highly unlikely....not with Defour and Brady out for the rest of the season! I’m just hoping we don’t slip all the way down and finish around 16th - 17th or even worse tbh

Actually it’s neither it’s how many points you amass from start to finish in relations to that of others
If you lost the first 19 and won the next 19
Or conversely won the first 19 and lost the last 19 you be on the same points

Its great and I ignore the wingers and knockers both on here and in the press .However I was at Swansea and I expected a great second half and three points not a rollover to a very average team

Just a few bits of Lady Luck in the last 10 games and we’d be challenging for a Champions league spot, as it is we been ravaged by injuries and wins became draws and draws became losses. It happens, I’m still happy with where we are and what we’ve achieved.
