Ward

Post by Ooogeorgeorgeoghani » Sat Feb 10, 2018 6:25 pm

We haven't won since he went off injured , Taylor has been excellent but doesn't provide the threat that ward does going forward , we need to try something so for me Taylor drops to the bench if ward is fully fit for his crossing ability sline

Taylor has been great lately and is the least of our problems.

Strange we haven't won without ward though, we went through a similar spell when marney was out a couple of years back

Taylor is our best player at present and can’t see Ward getting back in . He’s more mobile than Ward and a better defender he’s also not bad at putting a ball in. Ward does offer a bit more gong forward though especiallly against weaker opposition at home .

You say it’s strange but in reality our 10 game ‘slump’ can be attributed to countless other factors BEFORE you start blaming a young lad that’s been relatively faultless since coming in.

I'd say Kevin Long Playing in 6 of them doesnt help

If we aren't going down, absolutely no justification for dropping Taylor.

He was signed to succeed Ward, so let him. Especially given his form.

What's Long done greatly wrong? Apart from losing his man against Newcastle?
He's covered for Tarks excellently.

Utter ********. Apart from his poor game against Spurs how many goals can the blame be laid at his door. Zero.

In the last 10 games, 6 of them have been against sides above us in the table.

Well since you mention it as the post above you says at least 1, I'm not slating Long just defending Taylor who I think has performed better than Long.

Long has done fine. Our problems are due to a lack of goals scored not in defence.

The “back 5” aren’t the issue, it’s the “front 6”

We aren’t creating & we’re certainly not scoring enough and tbh other than Wood & Tarky coming back, this is probably as strong as it’s going to get for rest of the season

Long and Taylor were 2 of our best players today.

The big difference - today especially - is not having Defour. Hendrick was poor and Cork ponderous.

We are very short of people who can take half a chance, particularly with Wood out

A lot has been made of Wards injury but Chris wood has been sorely missed. Need more depth in this area with 2-3 people being shipped out

Wards our most consistent player. Has to play. Like defour he is always a 7 out of 10.

Missing brady. Wood, heaton and ward.

And the other four were away. Premier league teams outside the top six last season averaged three away wins - it's a myth that it's easy to win at places like Swansea.

Taylor has hardly dropped below a 7/10 since he came into the team in fairness.

I would add our best player, Defour, to your missing list too. :(

We certainly miss Heaton, Ward, Tarkowski, Dufour, Brady, and Wood to a greater or lesser extent. I don't think it's possible to allocate percentage figures to the amount by how much we miss them. But Brady and Wood (the goalscoring end of the team) would seem to be the biggest losses, IMO.
