York City v Burnley - filmed from a York perspective
Not as good as the footage we have all come to know so well, but my goodness, it's weird watching it all from the opposite stand. It's like watching it through a mirror
Enjoy!

Re: York City v Burnley - filmed from a York perspective
A much clearer view of the SJF goal, I always thought there was a hint of O.G. about it before, clears it up nicely.
I was in the same stand that night albeit closer to the open, away end.

That footage is superb. I've never seen it from that side. I was in the paddock in front of the main stand.
Jimmy Mullen provided the initial stepping stones for where we are today.
Those away games in the '91-92 season were something special despite the traumatic mental / physical injuries that went as par for the course.
Our Club Physio, Jimmy Holland, tended to my severe facial injuries in the Kettledrum Pub a few hours after a right 'Tear Up' at Mansfield. Moments later it all went off in the car park and one of my mates kicked my Coccyx through my Oesophagus

It's not about the winning but the taking part.Bordeauxclaret wrote:You seemed to get beat up a lot in your stories. Did you ever win a do?
Pain and suffering must hold a key element.
As does me being a complete cock.

This footage is from the season highlight VHS tapes. I think they issued a set of two, which I have somewhere in the attic.
Anyone know how to transfer them to DVD?

I remember hanging out of a sunroof on the way out of York trying to squeeze one last song out of my larynx. The car I was in was not the one id gone in. Vaguely new the lad whose car it was but nobody cared!
Very very happy days!!

How did that thug Kielly (sp) stay on after that kick at Painter after the equaliser? Retro ban these days! (Wonder if it's too late!)

He went on to have quite a long and very high profile career, but always one to hold a grudge I never forgave or forgot that petulant thuggery which took place right in front of me at that end! Re: York City v Burnley - filmed from a York perspective
I got there early but it didn't help much. I ended up right at the back and couldn't see anything of our winning goal. I thought Conroy was overrunning it for a goal kick. I didn't see Super Johnny Francis in the box so assumed it was a cross to no one. I only knew we'd scored when everybody erupted. A fantastic moment.
Agree about Kiely - I hated him for evermore. Well done Deary The Minder.

Love it! I'm on it at 4 mins 50 running onto the pitch from the stand with the camera (Home end) where we'd been seated about 35 mins into the game after having to be escorted round the pitch during play.

Re: York City v Burnley - filmed from a York perspective
We were in our car on that car park away at Mansfield after that all important 1-0 win. We thought we'd avoided the bother, but the traffic was jammed. THEN about 300 of their absolute idiots (many of them Forest imports as they had no game that day) suddenly appeared and began marauding from car to car attacking people. We feared the worst as they closed in, until ONE lone copper turned up riding a white horse and he charged them and they all backed off and scattered. Talk about squeaky bum time!Dressinggown wrote:That footage is superb. I've never seen it from that side. I was in the paddock in front of the main stand.
