Baggies sack chairman

Post by ClaretTony » Tue Feb 13, 2018 12:33 pm

It must have been a bad defeat last night - West Brom have sacked their chairman and chief exec. Chairman is John Williams who was previously at Blackburn & Man City. Was told he was very helpful in sorting out our signings of Trippier & Mee.

Didn’t he have a good reputation at Ewood before Venkeys arrived?

Problems we had with West Brom was when Mark Jenkins was chief exec and Jeremy Peace owned the club. Jenkins has now gone back in.

He was highly respected pre Venkys down the road at t'Roverrrrs. Him leaving was one of the finest bits of work by our Indian friends :-)

Pity to see the Baggies down there, as they do not splash the cash stupidly. They run their club sensibly.
However, rather them than us.

West Ham would be my relegation preference!

They've a hell of a lot of catching up to do. You don't want to be in their position with 11 games to go.

John Williams is the sort of person you need at a football club. I didn’t know he was at WBA. They’ll be clubs wanting to bring him in, I’d imagine.

West Brom now look favourites to go down. If we get our act together we could do Southampton some serious damage

Absolutely. Very decent bloke, too, apparently.
I'd have him in the boardroom here, but I suppose his history
with Rovers wouldn't go down too well with a lot of Clarets.

Wouldn't bother me, though.

They are gone as far as I am concerned.

I would put your mortgage on Craig Dawson being our first summer signing of 2018.

If Pardew takes them down it will be a great result, finally exploding the myth that Pardew is a football manager .

Used to like Upton park but not the new stadium, where you end up watching the big screen!

It's like watching Elton John live, with about as much atmosphere.

There'd be some pretty dramatic music when the team comes out of the tunnel.......

Did a top job did Williams, but I've heard he's off to continue his career as a film score composer!

Might help the lads perform like superman and avoid any star wars in the dressing room.

We tried to sign him in the summer of 2014 but there was no interest in him last summer from Burnley.

There were certainly difficulties dealing with West Brom with the Dawson deal (summer 2014) and Dorrans (Jan 2015). That was when Peace and Jenkins were running the club before the takeover. Jenkins is now back with Williams and Goodman gone. Williams, I believe, was helpful when we needed players on loan from Blackburn and I know he was more than helpful when we signed Mee & Trippier.

But Dawson could find himself a Championship player very soon - that will certainly change things for him.
