Can't believe I just jumped up celebrating a Rochdale goal as much as I would a Burnley one.

The replay'll pay for their new pitch.
Re: Another Alli dive robs Dale
That' a valid opinion, but it certainly wasn't a penalty either. He was either diving or falling over before he made contact with the Rochdale man's leg.ZizkovClaret wrote:Not a dive for me.

Re: Another Alli dive robs Dale
dive! he needs to be found guilty and banned for 6 games and THS have 4 pts taken off them for the sake of football and England team. I know none of this can happen but the guy goes down to easy
Re: Another Alli dive robs Dale
It was always going to be a penalty but it was still a dive.

Surely Tottenham have an advantage though with a premier league ref being used? If he gives a bad decision against Rochdale he’ll never ref them again, whereas he’s likely to referee spuds numerous times.

Re: Another Alli dive robs Dale
Sorry very rarely post, but that is a nailed on penalty, the lads leg comes right across him. I would be fuming if we didn't get that, nearly as bad as the one we didn't get against Huddersfield. I will say I'm dele fan and have a soft spot for spurs but all day long for me. Very impressed with Rochdale, worked their socks off
Re: Another Alli dive robs Dale
That could have been a foul, it might not. We’ll never know for sure because Alli exaggerated/dived/cheated.
The ref should be allowed to wave play on, even for a blatant foul, if the attacker exaggerates in any way

Penalty for me as much as I wanted to scream dive.
Brilliant comeback though from Rochdale.

Never a penalty. Alli initiated the contact then threw himself 10 ft in the air. Madley couldn't get his whistle blown fast enough.

Loved the way that Danny Murphy had to quickly pivot from his patronising ‘plucky old Rochdale’ line when they equalised.

Thought it was a penalty and also thought Rochdale could have had a penalty. There was enough "contact " , a coming together according to Danny Murphy. More genuine contact than the Ramsey pen perhaps going down naturally or he plays for Rochdale means it's a coming together.

Never a penalty. Yet another case of diving into a defender's leg and "winning" a penalty.

Lifted from the deleted thread. Agree with Claret - need to remove exaggeration.

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
Its a dive. If it was on tarmac in a playground, he wouldn't throw himself into the air and onto the ground. If there is a fear you are going to take a layer of skin off your face and legs by falling over, you don't deliberately stop your leg moving forwards when you feel someone touch it, you try and stay on your feet at all costs. Thats the measure of whether its a dive.

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
Alli is dead clever. Just like Long at TM the Rochdale player goes for the ball with the wrong leg, misses it. & sticks his hip/thigh out and instead of sidestepping, Alli goes over it so the ref has to give it.
These top players are really good at this stuff.

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
nice photo.
shows that alli is well on his theatrical way down before the dreaded 'contact'.
what upsets me more than the cheat are the suckers that fall for it.

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
Well done Rochdale, as a Southern Claret of some 60 years, now living in Rochdale, I am happy for them. I have a soft spot for them since reading the book " Kicking in the Wind" with a lot of Burnley connections. In this respect, with our new found wealth, would it be possible to have some kind of " professional relationship" with Rochdale to perhaps financially sponsor them but also tap into their youth development system for mutual benefit or are there rules against this ?

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
Its just cheating isn't it. They try to make it look real, but it's cheating.
Getting properly tired of it to be honest.
Dele Alli is the worst of them. He goes down in the box when looked at, but just look at his face and you know he wouldn't go down like that in a scrap, and you KNOW he would happily break someones leg on purpose in a `tackle`. For all his ability, i'd be happy if he never played for England again, and neither would I be happy if he ended up here.

The most amazing thing is how refs continue to get fooled! Everyone said Alli was going to go down for a pen and he did and he still got fooled.bobinho wrote:Its just cheating isn't it. They try to make it look real, but it's cheating.

Txtd a mate there today this would happen when I saw him come on. And viola
Can't believe it was given.
Tbh dale should have had a pen in the first half when the defender cradled the ball on the floor..

Re: Rochdale v Spurs
That one where the Spurs defender barged into the back of the Rochdale striker in the first half (which I thought was just 6s and half dozens) if that had been the other way round the refs arm would have had whiplash it would have moved so fast
