Your favourite computer games
Your favourite computer games
Whats your favourites? I am currently playing Witcher 3 and although it’s good I don’t think it’s as good as everyone is making out.
I have owned several computers over the year my favourite games are
SNES- the legend of Zelda a link to the past, super Mario kart
Sega- road rash, Aladin
N64- Mario 64, Mario kart 64, the legend of Zelda ocarina of time
Ps1- Tomb raider
Ps2- GTA vice city
PS3- the last of us, Skyrim, mass effect trilogy, GTA San Andreas, fall out 3
Since I bought my Xbox one two years ago I have been disappointed by the quality of a lot of the games. Graphic are amazing but not many stories grip me. Also I don’t have much time to play it anymore so can invest much time in them. Games seem to be getting longer and longer but that doesn’t make them better. I am looking forward to Red Dead redemption though

Football Manager 2008
I've tried to go cold turkey and wean myself off, or try the more modern versions, but it's just perfection. The perfect mix of realism and enjoyment. I only wish someone would make a patch to give it the 3d match engine from the new ones so i can see my favourite regens from previous saves "in the flesh"
Prior to my addiction starting in 2007, i was partial to Gran Turismo on the PSOne, Manhunt on PSTwo (bit twisted that one), Sim City 2000, Theme Park, Ultimate Soccer Manager, and Championship Manager 4

Re: Your favourite computer games
I mostly play on the PS4. Anyway, really love the following games:
Battlefield 4 - Just an absolute classic in my eyes. Hardline and BF1 which followed just don't compare. Probably the game which I've sunk the most time into.
Rainbow Six Siege - Love how tactical and intense it is. Extremely tough learning curve though. You cannot put this game down for more than a few weeks and expect to be half decent again straight away (unless you're a freak of nature).
Wolfenstein - The last couple of Wolfenstein games have been brilliant. Just great to play solo and create some carnage.
Steep - A nice chilled game where you can just explore the mountains on your snowboard, skiis etc.
Watch Dogs 1 and 2 - The games have been popular without universal acclaim but I absolutely love them - particularly the first. The first game inspired me to visit Chicago where I proposed to my wife Was weird to wander the city and have it feel so familiar.
Some old favourites include GTA Vice City (I still regularly listen to the Radio Emotion playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ydn-TWm5wSI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), Killing Floor and Football Manager. Gave up FM though as I just didn't have the time for it anymore. Became way too in-depth, in my opinion.

Re: Your favourite computer games
Not much of a gamer so stuck with Football Manager and Championship Manager over the years but downloaded Fortnite last week on PS4 and been on it for a few hours everyday since, pretty pointless game as you don't win anything but the Battle Royale's are addictive.

Fortnite (Battle Royale) is probably the best game ever made, free to play on all platforms too. Anyone tried it yet?

Nope, I've stayed well away from Fortnite.
Just isn't appealing to me for some reason.

Re: Your favourite computer games
Last I checked I'd put ~800 hrs into BF4. I'll never get bored of that game. The servers are still packed, too, at least on the main 10 maps (DLC maps are a bit empty these days, but they're inferior to the main game maps, anyway). Amazing game. Best console FPS ever made IMO.IndigoLake wrote:Battlefield 4 - Just an absolute classic in my eyes. Hardline and BF1 which followed just don't compare. Definitely Goldeneye on the N64. Both single player missions and multiplayer are the best fun I’ve ever had on a console and you can really relate to the film
That being said I renew both FIFA and Pro Evo each year as well as football manager on the laptop.
GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption are awesome games too

Does anyone on here have a Switch? I saw bit of Super Mario Odyssey and immediately thought GOTY without ever having played it. Honestly looks like the best platform game made since Super Mario 64.

Apparently I've 'only' put 255 hours in. Thought it was more than that! Anyway, still love the game though haven't played for a few months. Last few times I'd been on, I'd struggled to get fully populated games on a few of the maps. Siege of Shanghai, Operation Locker and Golmud Railway seem to be the most popular and common. I hope for another Battlefield along those lines but I don't know if it'll happen. Only played 30-40 hours of BF1. It isn't that bad but it's just not as good - doesn't have the same replay-ability for me.Spiral wrote:Last I checked I'd put ~800 hrs into BF4. I'll never get bored of that game. Manic Miner (purely for the fact it's the first game I ever played)
Super Mario Kart (SNES), I never found anybody better.
Pro Evo Soccer (most versions on the PS)
Premier Manager (C64, I think it was) - Wycombe Wanderers.
Championship/Football Manager (PC) - who remembers Mark Collis and Ferrah Orosco, who put themselves into the game at Cambridge?
Tex Murphy series (Under a Killing Moon, Overseer, two of them I remember) - brilliant games!
Super Off Road (NES) ... 4 tiny cars going around a mud track.

Liking the shouts for Manic Miner and Sabre Wulf
Plus just remembered one of my all time favourite games (which I got as a freebie with some broderbund printer software (with a printer).
Myst.
Absolutely superb in terms of the atmosphere created. It's largely puzzle solving but in a context of you spending a lot of time feeling quite alone. great game design.
Also the follow ups Riven and Exile.

I bought the PS3 when it came out and found I got no work done, so sold it to my mate for £50 less, about 2 weeks later. I just stick to playing consoles when I'm at a friends house or my nephews, but I've always prefered playstations over xbox.COYC73 wrote:Xbox One X or PS4....? Can’t decide....

Used to love Wipeout the original for PS1. Crash Bandicoot deserves a mention for capturing many childhood hours.
Final Fantasy 7 is my favourite of all time and the newer 15 was great fun.
FIFA is the game of choice. Would be good to get a few people together as a pro club from on the forum if people play pro clubs that is!
Fortnite is so addictive. I’ve had a couple of wins now and those last 10 people left or so can be really tense!

Re: Your favourite computer games
Still dabble with the occasional bit of World of Warcraft and Diablo III, but I'm currently balls deep in Civ 6.
Back in the day, I loved RTS or TBS games on the PC - Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Settlers but can anything really ever beat SWOS? I think not.

Re: Your favourite computer games
I remember a game in the 80s called Fred Loader. I thought it was a great. It was about a little yellow dude climbing up and down ropes trying to reach the top.
One hell of a blast from the past!
