I find that lad strangely overrated, came to the fore when Suderland where getting battered every game last season, not done much at Everton,Pope is better and Southgate should see that tomorrow.Rvrsleagueonechamps wrote:Looking at evertons keeper. Surely favourite for England No 1 now.

Hopefully not. I would prefer he sees 90 minutes of Nick freezing his balls off with nothing to do.Steve1956 wrote:I find that lad strangely overrated, came to the fore when Suderland where getting battered every game last season, not done much at Everton,Pope is better and Southgate should see that tomorrow.

What Pope does he does well, Goobs,Southgate isn't the brightest star in the sky but I'm sure he will beable to tell who is the better keeperGoobs wrote:Hopefully not. I would prefer he sees 90 minutes of Nick freezing his balls off with nothing to do.

Nick is a fantastic keeper and I have no doubt in his ability. For me he is our future and now our number 1. I just hope we spend 90 minutes up the other end giving Everton a good pasting.Steve1956 wrote:What Pope does he does well, Goobs,Southgate isn't the brightest star in the sky but I'm sure he will beable to tell who is the better keeper
Also FWIW Southgate is starting to slowly win me over as England manager (never thought I would say that when he was appointed)

We're actually the nearest Prem ground to Southgate's house.

He keeps turning up to observe Sean's defensive nous and how to draw and win playing ugly when England play in the World Cup.on the goalscoring front he knows all about Harry Kane.

Let's hope he doesn't use public transport or bump into any drunk Scots.
Southgate Season Ticket
Does he have one in the Bob Lord? Seems to be at the Turf every game. The next England squad could be interesting, imagine seeing Pope, Mee, Tarky and Cork called up. I doubt it would happen to that extent but we can dream, eh?

We've benefited from being on TV this week which enables him to fit more games in.

He doesn't live too far away inbetween Skipton and Harrogate so we're the closest Prem team he can go and see.
He can be at the Turf in 50 minutes.

Southgate and the Burnley boys
Pope must be a major reason why Southgate has been appearing at the Turf so much recently. He should be a shoe-in for the upcoming friendlies but I fear he will not be called up. If so, it is an outrage.
We can also quite easily add to Pope`s name those of Ben Mee, James Tarkowski and Jack Cork. I`m just interested to know which of these players people actually believe should be in the running for the World Cup and if not, who is better in their position?
Personally believe both Mee and Tarkowski should be in the next friendly squad. I don`t consider any player other than Stone `worthy` ahead of them. Cahill will be there but has he really been impressive this season? Smalling in my opinion is a liability and limited at best. Maguire has potential, of course. Jagielka surely will not be in with a shout.
Cork, possibly should (although he hasn`t quite been at the races for 5 or 6 weeks) be in with a sniff. If the likes of Livermore are in ahead of him, well, something is not quite right at the FA.

Re: Southgate and the Burnley boys
England's best covered position is RB but Matt Lowton must have impressed him yesterday.
Cahill & Jagielka are done. Smalling & Jones should be. Stones and Maguire to start at the World Cup. I've a sneaky feeling Ben Mee could be close;although the fact that Tarks has the Poland option might go in his favour.

It's the pies just the pies and nothing but the pies, that's why Southgate keeps turning up.

Sean invited him once and he's too scared to stop coming every week now.

The strength of our defence and midfield options are pretty poor. Going forward on their day our attacking players have got more than enough quality to give anyone a game.
Re: England manager at Turf tomorrow
Not sure Cork has done enough lately. Mee Tark Pope and even Lowton must have impressed.
