Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
pope - 7 not a lot to do, caught well under pressure towards the end
lowton - 10 you won't see abetter right back performance all season and the two balls he played in to barnes were from the top of the top drawer
tarkowski - 8 a bit rusty but grew into the game and his contribution to our first goal was key
mee - 8 no real worries
ward - 7 faced a tricky customer in walcott with his pace and that told a few times, not least for their goal but generally a sound game
cork - 7 getting back to his best
westwood - 7 surprised he wasn't hooked at half time instead of hendrick but he was far better second half
lennon - 8 the player we hoped we'd signed - cracking stuff
gudmundsson - 6 quieter day for him - he'll have to get used to playing on the left
hendrick - 6 decent first half and unlucky to have to make way for the formation change
barnes - 7 difficult job first half and he struggled with it, bar the header where pickford pulled off a top save, keane in particular making light work of him. no surprise he improved with some help up top and second half he was very good indeed - should have had two though when lowton again put him in 1 on 1
wood - 7 another who was clearly rusty but he did his bit and everton will be wondering why they let such an obvious threat have a free header a few yards out
a fairly even first half, two sides clearly lacking confidence, although everton could have put themselves out of reach with better finishing. different story second half though with the substitution working very well indeed.
lowton was absolutely imperious and the pass bending into the path of barnes was worth the admission alone.
just shows how much the injuries have been affecting us, having a fully fit squad does wonders in terms of competition and that itself brings sharpness and confidence. even the most pessimistic of fans knows we're well clear of the safety mark now so we can hopefully play with a bit more freedom.
lol at ashley williams. genuinely no idea how he's been a premier league footballer, he's always been a carthorse. think he's finally realised himself its time to bow out given he had two goes at getting sent off today.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Slightly nervous before kick off but it was an excellent performance from us, especially second half.
Lots of positives, not least the amount of chances we created and we should have won by more. Seventh place is more than achievable if we continue to play like this.
Pope 7 - relatively untroubled and very dominating in his area 2nd half
Lowton 9 - exceptional, especially the passes
Tarks 8 - Long has done well, but Tarks is a different centre half
Mee 7 - steady as always
Ward 7 - Has he ever had a bad game for us?
JBG 7 - flinging the crosses in
Westwood 7 - bit iffy first half, but excellent 2nd half
Cork 7 - very steady
Lennon 9 - good first half, very good second half
Hendrick 7 - thought he did ok, slightly unlucky to be hooked at half time
Barnes 9 - top drawer second half and could (and probably should) have had a hatrick
Subs
Wood 7 - scored, which lets face it what we have been missing.
Very enjoyable, made even sweeter by the clear contempt that Everton fans have for BFS

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 7
Lowton 8 haven't seen a replay of THAT pass yet, looking forward to it.
Tarks 9 Long did a great job in his absence, but you could see the difference Tarks brings to the team
Mee 7 Great defensively, but his passing.......
Ward 8 solid
JBG 7 average 1st half, much improved 2nd
Westwood 7 sound defensively, but wasted some good ball with poor passing
Cork 8 sound
Lennon 7 see JBG
Hendrick 8, 1st half I thought he played the best football he'd ever played in that position, still right to change it.
Barnes 9 mom A big improvement on JH in the no10 roll, and a great all round performance and a goal
Wood 8 showed what we've been missing up front and a big improvement on Ash as the target man
I should imagine the team that finished will be the team for the rest of the season. Possible opportunity for JH to drop into the middle, but a much better performance today, and well deserved win.

Pope 7
Lowton 8 excellent, what a ball, and cross first half MOM
Tarkowski 6 a few nearly major mistakes, perhaps a touch rusty
Mee 8
Ward 7
Lennon 8 plenty of efforts, miss timed his easiest
Westwood 8 excellent
Cork 7
Hendrick 7 a lot better, unlucky to be hooked
Gudmundsson 7 some good balls in on his stronger side
Barnes 8 a battering ram, could have had a hatrick
Wood 7
Some of us have been crying out for that 2nd half line up/approach for 10 games ( yes I'm aware of the injuries ) but really does show what happens when you play the players in their right positions or on their stronger sides. Thought both wingers did well when on the ball, but also making up the numbers when Not, coming in from the back.
Great preformance, even at HT when I thought we were unlucky to be trailing.
Hope to see more of this, must be our best all round display for nearly 4 months, if not all season.
So good to see us try and exploit the opposition rather than the same kind of cautious approach.
I'm vocal when calling Mr Dyche out when he seems to wait an age to change things, or we don't go at teams for prolonged periods of pressure, so must do the same when he gets it right. I thought we could had had 3 or 4 today, it was a pleasure to watch.
Think it makes it even sweeter when you come from behind with a late goal.
A massive monkey off our backs now, well done Burnley, let's kick on now, 7th IS possible, with players coming back and a kinder set of fixtures, I expect we will be seeing more goals and better results, so go with hopefully do better weather.

Pope - 7 Nowt really to do, but did it well
Lowton - 8 - we have missed him, good offensively and defensively
Ward - 7 - see above
Tarks - 6 - shaky earlier on but looked excellent in the 2nd half (As everyone did)
Mee - 8 Usual Ben Mee stylish performance
Cork - 7 - Standard Cork
Westwood - 7 Seriously under-rated and unlucky not to get more games in the midfield this lad, keeps us ticking over
JBG - 6 Quieter than normal but worked hard
Lennon - 8 His best performance for Burnley, by a mile
Hendrick - 6 Meh
Barnes - 9 MOM wow, made Keane look like an over-rated flop (Which it appears he is) and dominated the entire back four of Everton for the duration
Sub - Wood - 8 Such a handful and got a goal

Pope 8 solid and tidy save
Lowton 8 great work from Matty on the right
Tarkowski 7 rusty and but sloppy but hit his stride
Mee 8 rock solid
Ward 7 generally good caught napping once though
Gudmundsson 8 1 for the goal such an improved player
Cork 8 thought he played v well good passes
Westwood 8 made the shirt his own for the season
Lennon 9 best yet and not had the likes for yrs fast tricky and grafts
Hendrick 6 tad unlucky to be tactically subbed was ok
Barnes 9 1 for the goal but had Keano all over
Wood 8 back in the groove
Great to see us back to “ full strength “ long termers not included , well deserved win and some good clever attacking football .Everton a classy bunch of players and v dangerous but lacking in fight and finishing

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 7- not much to do but was calm and assured with crosses
Lowton 8- solid defensively and what a ball for equaliser.
Tarkowski 8- a couple of lapses but how strong and composed do we look when he is in back four.
Mee 7- could have done better with first half chance but showing he is a good leader of men.
Ward 8- This guy has been missed.
Westwood 8- a couple of blind around the corner hoofs but all round good solid performance.
Cork 7- again not as influential as early season but still makes us tick.
Gudmondson 8- not everything came off but never shied away kept getting on the ball and looked a threat.
Lennon 8- the key is get him going forward with plenty of ball. Surely will score soon if getting in to positions like city and today.
Hendrick 6- better than last week but it can't be good for him to playing in a role he can't. Spent a lot of time drifting out to left wing.
Barnes 9- tireless and although not the easy on the eye striker his role in our system can't be overestimated. Keane and Williams will have a sleepless night despite being run to exhaustion.
Wood 8- his first foray in the game showed his intent. Provided more threat getting behind whilst Barnes dropped off.

Pope 8
Lowton 8
Tarks 6 (I was wishing for Long back after 30 minutes as he looked hopeless, BUT he WAS instrumental in our equaliser and he he did improve A LOT in the second half tbf)
Mee 8
Ward 7
Cork 8
Westwood 8 (dealt with his first half yellow very well)
JBG 8
Lennon 8
Hendrick 7 (was playing as well as I've seen and a bit unlucky to be hooked)
Barnes 9 (brilliant from a bloke who isn't necessarily the most gifted or talented, but is absolutely the most BURNLEY!!!)
Wood 7 (Scored the winner, but actually didn't do a lot else, except just distracting them by being there!)
How weird that last week SD refused to change things when 20,000 Clarets could see it needed it, but today he was on the front foot and changed things when we were actually playing well!! I'm not Jeff's biggest fan, but he was playing well and lost out, BUT it paid off!
A game where both defences looked dodgy and both teams looked like they could score more goals. The return of Tarks made us look vulnerable tbh (especially first half) but on the offensive we constantly looked like we might score, even when behind and although for a long time I feared we might not get our just rewards, in the end we did!! One happy (and slightly drunk) Claret!

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - wasted a free kick but on the whole, excellent.
Lowton 10 - Crossing was brilliant and the assist just fantastic.
Tarks 8 - Rusty but his part in the equaliser oozed class.
Mee 8 - Standard Ben Mee. Solid and assured.
Ward 7 - Struggled with Walcotts pace but overall handled him well.
Lennon 7 - Tireless. Final ball was a little lacking but great overall.
Cork 7 - Looking more like the Cork of earlier in the season.
Westwood 7 - Kept the ball moving well.
JBG 6 - Quiet day for JBG but up against arguably the best right back in the decision.
Hendrick 6 - Dont get this ‘unlucky to be hooked’ narrative on here. I thought his passing was off initially and Barnes attempted link up play with him exposed how badly he can’t play the position. To be clear it’s not his fault he just simply isn’t a number 10.
Barnes 10* - Brilliant. Typical niggly Ash performance without the theatrics.
Wood 9 - Link up with Barnes changed the game, should be starting next week.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 7. Not really much to do, and no chance with goal. Relieves pressure with those high claims late on.
Lowton 9* Did every aspect well, and through ball for Barnes was sublime
Tarkowski 8. one rick early on which nearly cost us a goal, but otherwise slotted straight back in. Some great feet at times.
Mee 7. standard Mee performance: good defending, wayward passing at times.
Ward 7. Relatively quiet, but Walcott rendered anonymous for me.
Gudmundsson 7. Keeps going, but seemed to lose possession cheaply more often than usual
Cork 7. Guilty once of not attacking a ball which had his name all over it, but otherwise a standard performance from him.
Hendrick 7. Thought he was doing ok, and certainly nothing to warrant the abuse he was getting from the crowd. Tactical switch had to be made, and he was the clear candidate to go shapewise.
Westwood 7. Tidy enough, but he's no Defour. Doesn't affect games in anywhere near the same way.
Barnes 8. Thought he could have been more pro-active a couple of times in the first half, on his heels for the flash across goal, and needed to be breaking the line more often. With Wood coming on he had more freedom to do that, and his goal was a direct result of the running in behind he seemed reluctant to do first half. Unlucky with the header though made a good dart for that.
Lennon 8. Really got the crowd up with his direct running, and forced a decent save from Pickford. Works his socks off too. Him and Lowton had Martina and Calvert-Lewin on the ropes first half.
Wood 8. Could have done better with his first chance, but the goal was a great strikers goal. Hung around outside the danger zone and drifted in unnoticed. We've missed him and his goalscoring instinct.

Pope 7 - not much to do
Lowton 9 MOM
Mee. 8
Tarks. 7 Used his strength well
Ward. 8
Lennon. 7 Unlucky not to score, much better on the right
Westwood 7
Cork. 6
JBG. 7
Hendrick. 6
Barnes. 9 Superb, just pipped by Lowton for mom
Wood. 8 Caused Everton problems and a goal to boot
Well that was much more entertaining than some of the dull play we have seen recently.
As poor as Everton were at the back, they did create a few chances and probably should have scored more than one but heyho that's there problem!
Good positive change from SD at half time which helped change the game.

Re: Burnley v Everton - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - He commanded the box very well and can't have harmed his chance for what would be a well deserved call up to the England squad.
Lowton - 9* mom not just for THE pass but for an excellent all round display with several passes that on another day may have had us scoring more.
Tarkowski 7 - I'm glad he is back, had a few dodgy moments but they have some quality players.
Mee 7 - A few of his headers resulted in the ball coming back quickly but he more than makes up for the odd error, unlucky not to score twice.
Ward 8 - His link play is brilliant and the blocking of the keeper without any form of a foul was simply outstanding.
Gudmundsson 8 - What a player this lad is and what a bargain.
Cork 8 - Had a tough time trying to impose himself but by the end of the game he was the boss in midfield
Westwood 8 - I like this lad, he has a calm assuredness and puts in a shift. Not a glamour seeker but very effective.
Lennon 7 - He will be a real gem once we start getting someone converting his passes. Like his willingness to shoot first time when nothing on.
Hendrick 7 - Battled well and should take heart from a decent performance.
Barnes 8 - Took his goal well and gave the Everton defence a hard time, some of his first touches were excellent.
Wood 8 - We have missed his movement and eye for goal. Hope he starts next week.
I'm not getting dewy eyed with the marks, everyone contributed but some were just a little better than others. An excellent all round performance against a side who may be struggling but still had more than enough to worry us once in our half.
Let's hope this form continues and we get that European trip to Cobh Ramblers in Ireland or TNS Solutions in Wales (You just know it will happen like that)
