Cork and Westwood
Amidst praise quite rightly being spread about to other areas, I thought these two lads were superb today. Cork back to his best after a little dip, and Westwood, massively underrated gets better and better. Lovely problem for Sean to have when Defour and Brady back and possibly Hendrick if we stick with 4 4 2. Stick your takeover bids, we are doing just fine!!!!! UTC... now to get bladderd celebrating our wonderful clubs best times in decades!!!

Re: Cork and Westwood
I thought that both had good games. Westwood is starting to look more comfortable in possession. I think it's an example of him needing game time to settle into the side. Now he's had a run he is looking very accomplished. Neat and tidy with a touch of nastiness

Re: Cork and Westwood
Westwood played really well at Man City but had a poor game at Newcastle when he came in for Defour. He's been excellent since coming back into the side for last two games.

Re: Cork and Westwood
The one thing I feel Westwood always is, is confident in possession: he goes looking for a football more than any other player on the pitch.
Re: Cork and Westwood
Westwood and Cork are solid if not spectacular. Cork is really needed for his defensive heading. Westwood and Defour would never be good enough in that department.

Re: Cork and Westwood
There was a ball westwood spread wide on the half volley that was beckhamesque!

Re: Cork and Westwood
Westwoods problem is that he's a very good at what he does, but Steven Defour is a much better version.
Still, its excellent to have him when Defour is injured.

Re: Cork and Westwood
Without Defour, he has offered the best alternative.
Re: Cork and Westwood
When Defour was fit and Cork had a dip in form, I suggested resting him for Westwood and I was practically laughed off the board. Westwood is a very good, tidy player. He also floored a Blackburn fan so he'll do for me.

Re: Cork and Westwood
Westwood has grabbed his chance with both hands.
It should be a big confidence boost for him that Hendrick was subbed and he wasn’t. (Being that Hendrick is most established, I’m not suggesting he’d played better until the half time break).

Re: Cork and Westwood
I thought the yellow might have seen him make way, also Hendrick is much more forward thinking and also the height factor.
I was pleasantly surprised by the Hendrick withdrawal, but boy did it work. Westwood was once again had an impressive display.

Re: Cork and Westwood
I thought the positioning of Westwood was interesting, regularly dropping in to the back four to build possession from the back! Played the role well, if the team plays like that every week I'll be a haply fan.

Re: Cork and Westwood
Agree. When I saw Wood and Vokes warming up, I expected Hendrick would drop in and Westwood make way. Not because I thought he deserved to, just thought that Dyche would stick with Hendrick.UpTheClaretsFCBK wrote:Westwood has grabbed his chance with both hands.

Re: Cork and Westwood
Westwood is a nice tidy player but he is not Defour. Defour can produce moments of magic that Westwood can't but Westwood should certainly keep his place whilst Defour is out.
Re: Cork and Westwood
When he tried to play more ambitious balls he failed on at least two occasions - but - in general seems to have done well.
Re: Cork and Westwood
Very good player and doing well since coming in. He's no Defour, but not many are!
