FAO Ashingtonclaret46

Post by BurningBeard » Sun Mar 04, 2018 11:50 am

I recently read that you're struggling to get down to the Turf. I live in Whitley Bay and was looking to get to a game before the end of the season - probably Leicester on 14 April.

I would be happy to come and get you and do a day trip there and back for the game - is this something you'd be interested in?

I need to confirm the finer details but wanted to make the offer in principle. Let me know.

I'll send him this thread link. I know he generally has got himself a lift down to the Turf for games although he wasn't here yesterday.

Hey BurningBeard ----many thanks for your offer of a lift down to the Turf --it is much appreciated.
As Tony has said, a friend, who I have known for years from our involvement in local football, took me down last week and we only didn't go yesterday because of the weather having been as it was although I had got him a ticket.
I shall have to have a word with him because he has made the offer for the other matches and I definitely dont want to offend him.
I shall probably know more later this week and will let you know. Once again, many thanks for your kind offer.

Hi BurningBeard ---many thanks for your generous offer which is really appreciated, however, my friend has confirmed that he wishes to attend the remaining 4 home games and has got tickets for them --in spite of his being a Newcastle fan!!
Obviously, I do not wish to offend him so I shall go with him and trust that you understand my feeling.

I should be getting my licence back in late July if things go according to plan and I have renewed my season ticket soI shall be going down regularly next season. If you wish to get a lift to any games next season I would be only too willing to pick you up and drop you off in Whitley Bay --just get in touch. I always travel up and down on the same day but I do sometimes leave early if the Youth team are at home as well in the morning.

The Bee Hole End is a bit like the Yellow Pages; not just for the nasty things in life.

OK Ashington, I'm glad you're sorted and seem to be in the process of converting the mag friend of yours.

The extent to which I have a life is questionable, so you may have been right before the edit!

Thanks for the offer of a lift next season, I may well take you up on it. I've made a note of your number - you might want to edit and remove it lest you start getting prank calls from the more undesirable elements of the board :)

I'd also be happy to meet up for a pint to watch a televised away game if you're ever at a loose end.
