So as well as being completely deluded, they are a massive bunch of fascists and football hooligans as well. No wonder they all love Di Canio.

This is my favourite part of the whole piece
"5 The 15 minute interval must be addressed its impossible to get to the toilets get a drink and be back for the restart a for the second half ."
So a small club in the East End of London wants world football to change because some of thier fans can't survive two hours without a drink?*
*to be fair, the alchofrolics in the JHU must miss most of the game when they go down for their half time pint after about twenty five minutes

Don't know whether you've been Lancaster, but everything about the place is absolutely horrendous. I'm stuck in the corner this year so hopefully at least the big screen won't be quite as bad but the whole experience is dreadful to be honest.Lancasterclaret wrote:This is my favourite part of the whole piece

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
Never been Tony
The Boleyn Ground was bad enough, and last time I went I had a West Ham fan trying to start on me all the way to the actual steps of the coach.
Never had any time for their fans, and not shocked to discover they have a far right problem (amongst other clubs it has to be said)

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
The Boleyn wasn't the best for away fans, everything about it was unpleasant, but this experience is like nothing else. Last year it was a 40 minute walk each way to the stadium from the station and once inside it is so obviously not a football ground. I've met a few of the WHUISA and they are decent people. They are certainly having a difficult time right now.Lancasterclaret wrote:Never been Tony

To and from the station is a huge set of diversions to get you back to the beginning.
The seating just makes you watch the screen. Glad I went ad I would not have believed it could be so bad.
Not going this season Sad that I don't want to attend a live, reachable match.

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
This bit from Karen Brady I found hard to believe
We do, however believe that we delivered against our commitment of bringing the seats as close to the pitch as possible under the roof whilst maintaining sightlines

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
As per IanMcL- the area is easily reachable for me too, I did try to get a ticket but couldn't. In truth I wasn't greatly disappointed as getting to/from the actual ground and the viewing once there seem to be so poor. I'd like to visit once, though, just to see for myself.
I went to the Boleyn ground a fair few times over the years starting with our 2-3 FA Cup game in 1964(ish). I quite enjoyed a trip there and even went as a neutral a couple of times in the latish 1990s (I recall being very impressed by Slaven Bilic's handling of Alan Shearer in one game).

There were diversions last year which made it a much longer walk to and from the station. I think it was 40 minutes each way. Shouldn't be like that this week.IanMcL wrote:To and from the station is a huge set of diversions to get you back to the beginning.

Sounds like it could be quite lively outside the ground on Saturday. Imagine how toxic it'll be if we win...

I would have thought that when they design an Olympic stadium they would have put a station there! Not a 40 min walk away.

Got a taxi from the Blind Beggar to the ground and ended up missing about 10 minutes because the car can only go so close, then had to trek right around the other side. Sh1te for a football stadium is that one

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
Went down for the world athletics last year and its a great stadium...for athletics.
Have not been there for a football match but we had great seats and were still a long way from the pitch so I can understand how the views and atmosphere would be so poor.
I hope we play with more freedom and quality on Saturday as there confidence is low and they are bang in relegation trouble. Would love them to go down - can't stand the club, its owners, Karen Brady and there fans. The deal they got to acquire the ground is bordering on criminal and I cannot believe it has not been investigated. In the bigger crowds they now get effectively they have been given the best part of £30m extra income a year at very little or no cost or capital outlay to themselves.

hmmmmm....i remember the ruck at the back of the longside when we played west ham on our return to the top flight in the 70's...nasty indeed, but mainly when they were chasing our barely pubescent kids around ...when the ugly bunch from the brickmakers, prinny, welly and turf arrived at 5 to 3,.i'd say we shaded it ...we certainly had our share of hard lads...and west ham certainly got shifted from prime position before kick off .

That's a partial relief, but last year they reported on the day that there were extensive diversions due to a gas problem.aggi wrote:There are still diversions after the match, they've been lifted before the match.

Probably one of the most intimidating sets of fans I've come across to be fair, didn't feel the most relaxed last season, felt it could kick off anytime, as the thread says could be a bit uneasy if we do get the 3pts, segregation doesn't appear to be the best either UTC'S.

Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
Lots of decent Hammers fans (I have lived among them since 2001), so it’s a sad indictment of the owners that they’d engage more with the ones who use intimidation as part of debate, and lean toward extreme beliefs.

Been to the stadium once, before it was gifted to the 'appy 'ammers to watch a Race of Champions car day. Guess it will be slightly different on Saturday. Though I have been to the Boleyn a few times, including sat in the home end when we were robbed 1-0 last time and Duffer was sent off. It was quite clear who I was supporting when I shouted 'come on Tom' at the penalty and everyone went up when they scored it apart from me. Didn't have any problems with the fans sat around me.

Maybe there were extra diversions.ClaretTony wrote:That's a partial relief, but last year they reported on the day that there were extensive diversions due to a gas problem.
In general you can now walk through Westfield before the match which makes it pretty short (although will probably mean that the Cow is even more rammed). After the match though they won't let you through that way so send you round the houses to approach the station from another direction.
The latest on the protest seems to be that there may just be some kind of protest around the stadium, probably because it will be much easier to police there rather than a march.

I wonder how many of them will there to kick seven shades of **** out of each other next season in the Championship. Shambles of a club that's sold its history down the river.
Re: Uneasy situation at West Ham
To quote Spinal Tap, it sounds like a sh*t sandwich. Why have they got so many supporters clubs? The Real group just sound like a bunch of old 70's hooligans desperate to get tooled up and take down anyone who steps on their manner. The game could do without them, it's not the 70's anymore FFS... what a pathetic bunch of deluded t0ss3rs!!

To be fair to WH they are (clubwise/fan wise) a reasonable equivalent of ourselves on a north/sarf comparison . They ain’t a glamour club and don’t atttract the luvvie element of Chelsea /Arsenal /spurs etc .Yhey have a lot of local /original east end types who were totally gutted to be moved to the bloody awful new stadium of theirs . They struggle with an atmosphere and as anyone who went last yr will know it’s a feckin orrivle ground and getting to and from it.
Yes they are slightly deluded but you can see their frustration of having the soul ripped out the club

I do remember being in the longside and there was a space that seemed to be moving around the crowd in the Beehole, it turned out to be a West Ham fan with a knife.
I know there was a few sets of fans around that time, Sunderland, Sheffield Utd and West Ham some I remember who got in from the back of the beehole, thought they were winning a do until the wave from the longside appeared and they got knocked back down the steps at the back.
