What a partnership they’ll make for the next eight games of the season.

And when Defour and Brady are back next season, we could be filling our boots.

Without a doubt. Particularly with the position we are in.

Starting Hendrick in a 4-5-1 ahead of Woods in a 4-4-2 is bizarre.

Burnley striker Chris Wood to MOTD: "What was going through my mind? Hopefully they wouldn't stop the game.

"It's a tough situation, I can sympathise with the fans. They just want to see their team win. It's tough for them at the moment but they need to stick with the players.

"You don't want that to happen on the pitch, it creates problems and safety issues. We were fine, they were just voicing their frustration."

4-5-1 can work, but Hendrick isn’t the man to play ahead of the two centre mids. 4-4-2 until the end of the season then make the necessary additions in summer

This reminds me a bit of the Ben Mee scenario, when everybody knew he wasn't a left back, but a forced decision made SD make the move. I feel he's not seeing this with Hendrick either and it'll only happen when it's a forced move.

Yes - have you not been able to find it? West Ham 0-3 Burnley.

Absolutely fantastic result in a fantastic season.

Watched the game (maybe you should of).
.
For the small minded among you, I am not complaining about anything. Simply responding to the post. Last week, Wood came on at half time for Hendrick and it completely changed the game in our favour. Today Wood came on for Hendrick for the last 30 or so, and he and Barnes destroyed them.

This suggests to me we are somewhat more effective playing a 4-4-2 with Wood and Barnes.

And on a day when all the media focus from the stadium will be on West Ham's neanderthal community, we really need to stick to the football. Thank goodness for this site. The BBC is all over the troubles. Well, I'm sorry, but none of it is our business, all I'm interested in (Providing all involved are safe and unhurt) and we won 0-3.

Burnley, Sean, lads, BRILLIANT STUFF.
Thank you from the bottom of my claret and blue heart.

Barnes and Wood. What a combination. Arsene, 7th beckons..

Agree. Dyche I think will see it that Wood as an impact sub works, not that he deserves the start

Barnes and Wood were a real handful this afternoon. They seem to be great foils for one another.

I like Hendrick. Good footballer. But he definietly HASN'T been playing as a 3rd CM like a few posters have been suggesting on here - he has clearly been playing as a deeper forward. Therefore, we might as well have a forward in that position...

Having watched the highlights we could have been 2 down by half time.
Had we played 4-4-2 WH could have been out of sight by half time.
Give SD the credit he deserves, and Nick Pope for the saves.

I know its not what people want to hear, but we were also good for the first half last week.

Its certainly an effective change to make, and I wonder if it would work as well from the start.

I agree Lancaster, keeping us in the game till 60 minutes and then unleash the duo.
WH could have overrun us if we played 4-4-2 from the start

Whilst I agree with the sentiments of most posters, bringing Wood on as a sub seems to throw the opposition off their game; Everton last week who were better 1st half and Sham this week who were, again, better first half. Starting with Wood may not have such a favourable outcome. Leave it to SD, he knows best and can do no wrong.

We were the better team until they scored last week and then they dominated up until half time.

We don't know how well it would work starting a 4-4-2 with Barnes and Wood, but I suspect it would be extremely effective.

According to Opta Stats, Chris Wood is the first Premier League substitute to be involved in three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) since Steven Naismith in 2015.

Having watched the full game, I would say that they battered us for 35 minutes or so. The reason they were not 2 up at this point was down to a combination of poor finishing and Pope's excellence.

Starting Barnes and Wood in a 4-4-2 would of stopped their dominance and given them a more to think about.

Attack is often the best form of defence.

That’s certainly a valid argument.

Having had it work two games on the bounce, I would be trying it again next game.

But I do take your point and it’s valid

When SD hasn't brought on a sub when trying to hold onto a 1 goal lead, or for a point or worse, when a goal behind, some of those decisions have been impossible to fathom. It is frustrating for him as well as us when what he expects to happen gets ripped away, Arsenal, Liverpool, Southampton et al but these past 2 games the tactics may not have been popular but they have been absolutely spot on.

I hope SD and the players get the credit they are due and it isn't overshadowed by the crap elsewhere on the pitch.

Before the trouble started and before SD sent on Wood I just got a sense we were starting to get a grip on the game and had an in play bet on us winning. Being a Burnley fan, I cashed in as soon as we went 2-0 up though, you know, just in case

Absolutely, unless those first half highlights were biased, it looked like we were very lucky to hang on to 0-0.
But the result totally justifies the selection and tactics

The results speak for themselves so you can't argue against the same line up next time. I would just like to see Barnes and Wood starting to see how it would work from the start. I think we would destroy a lot of teams, particularly one's such as West Brom.

A lot of the link up play was excellent. Granted, they made a poor defense look poor, but they ripped them to bits.
I enjoyed Lennon's miskick for the goal as well, nice bit of deserved luck. :D

The last two games shows what can happen when Dyche makes a sub before 85 minuets. My mind goes back to Southampton and what could’ve been. I just hope Dyche and his staff stick to what they’ve done these last 2 games from now on.

The argument is all based on 4-5-1 with Hendrick or 4-4-2 with Wood.

I think we can compromise with Wood and Barnes starting but in a 4-5-1, or 4-4-1-1 with Barnes playing a bit deeper than Wood. As and when the game situation dictates, Barnes can play further up the pitch and go 4-4-2.
