Special mention for Dyche, saw pretty early in the 2nd half that WHU weren't causing us many problems so went for the win

Pope 7 - did everything he had to do, great save from Lanzini. Get him on the plane to Russia.
Lowton 8 - great distribution and defensively. Dark houses for the World Cup but probably getting carried away!
Tarkowski 8 - standard Tark
Mee 8 - as with Tark
Ward 7
JBG 7
Cork 7
Lennon 7
Hendrick 7 - better than usual
Westwood 7 - lucky to avoid a red but tidy
Barnes 8 - don’t know how he’s turned into a Ballon d’or contender but seems to be improving at a scary rate
Wood 8 - MOM - demonstrated the clinical touch we’ve been missing in his absence at times

Dull but steady first half, but a magnificent second half, particularly once Wood came on. West Ham were poor, and you could see what little confidence they had drain from them once they went 1-0 down, but full credit to us for being ruthless and winning the game in emphatic fashion.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - 2 big saves to keep us in the game
Lowton 9 - thought he was excellent, numerous big defensive blocks and a wonderful pass into the channel for the goal. Bardsley makes him look like Cafu, night and day difference between them.
Mee 8 - solid as ever
Tark 8 - same as Mee
Ward 8 - solid and offered a threat down the left. Should've had an assist for Barnes' disallowed onside goal.
Lennon 6 - great defensive work, struggled to affect the game offensively.
Westwood 6 - played well, lucky to be on the pitch though, horrendous tackle.
Cork 7 - busy
Hendrick 5 - ran around a lot
JBG 7 - better than Lennon offensively.
Barnes 8 - very good goal, struggled to get into the game before Wood came on.
SUBS:
Wood 10 - changed the game completely, excellent movement in behind the defender to set up Barnes for the first goal.
We're enjoyable to watch when we go at teams for the final 25-30 minutes and boring to watch for the first hour. It could've been a different game had Lanzini/Arnautovic scored before HT then the game plan wouldn't have looked like a masterstroke. Rode our luck at times and the crowd certainly helped us but overall very happy with another 3 points towards 7th spot.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
A 4 for Hendrick - Boysie31 - do you have that mark ready before the game? Are you the sad man who berates Hendrick at every possible minute at the Turf who sits near me? I know it's all about opinions but he wasn't "poor" today.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Not sad at all but strange that both times he has come off in the last 2 games we look a totally different team and scored 5 goals - I like Hendrick and he is a decent midfield player but not good enough higher up the pitch - a few times today he was even taking the ball of mee behind our midfield which is no good.Goodclaret wrote:A 4 for Hendrick - Boysie31 - do you have that mark ready before the game? For the info how many times has Hendrick been subbed this season and how many full games has he played.
Him playing there does not work and I can see the confidence draining from him week by week which is bad management.
Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
I don't think Hendrick is a number 10 either but the system worked today, Hendrick first 60 to slow the game down and compact the midfield then 2 up top for the final 30. Hendrick is clearly there to be subbed off, all part of the game plan. The problem with Hendrick as a 10 is when we go behind like against Everton it forces our hand earlier and sometimes can leave us with not enough time to really get back into it.BOYSIE31 wrote:Not sad at all but strange that both times he has come off in the last 2 games we look a totally different team and scored 5 goals - I like Hendrick and he is a decent midfield player but not good enough higher up the pitch - a few times today he was even taking the ball of mee behind our midfield which is no good.

Pope 8 2 good saves at 0-0, certainly better than the chap at the other end... England's number 5 they chanted, I think they were being generous....

Hendrick 5 annonomous, was shocked he started, can't see him starting next time out
Barnes 9 immense, unplayable
Wood 8 5 goals In 90 minutes for them playing together. Look so much more dangerous with him in the side
Can we start our best 11 next time please Mr Dyche. We looked every bit a top 10 side 2nd half, however the first half was up there with the worst I've ever seen.

7s and 8s for Hendrick really. Considering most football journos gave him a 5 today which suggests yet another below par day at the office.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Good, solid team performance all round.
We weren't pretty to watch in the first half and I said to the bloke next to me that I'd take a point right then as we normally get battered.
Pope- 8, couple of excellent saves, doesn't look like throwing one in like Hart.
Lowton - 8, took one for the team literally and that looked painful.
Tarks - 8 usual composed performance.
Mee - 8 same again as usual.
Ward - 8 good to have him back.
JBG - 8 just doesn't stop going.
Cork - 8 a steal at what we paid for him.
Westwood - 7 he's doing alright, but that tackle..
Lennon - 8 surprised me with how well he's doing.
Hendrick - 7 just doesn't seem comfortable up there but he was solid enough.
Barnes - 9 if anyone still doesn't like him...
Wood - 10 absolute game changer
Dyche - spot on today with a proactive substitution.
West Ham Fans - 10, great entertainment value today , provided the funniest away day for me since Reading and that pitch invasion in error.

Dyche - spot on today with a proactive substitution.
West Ham Fans - 10, great entertainment value today , provided the funniest away day for me since Reading and that pitch invasion in error.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - two vital saves with his feet otherwise the outcome would have been a lot different.
Lowton 8 - a Trippier Mk#2 - feel he has really bought into our club
Tarkowski 8 - lovely to watch in a non-sexual way.
Mee 8 - will people be talking about him in 10 years as the old buggers do about Dobson?
Ward 8 - feel sorry for Taylor but Ward oozes confidence which the rest of `em feed off. The best left-back I`v ever seen play for Burnley.
Lennon 6 - a quiet one from him and lucky with the penalty and a reckless challenge?
Cork 7 - grew into it after a patchy first 45
Westwood 7 - kept it ticking over
Gudmundsson 7 - don`t think it was his best display but a superb acquisition and player of the season candidate for me.
Hendrick 6 - doesn`t do it for me. A trier of course but I never feel he affects a game.
Barnes 9 MOM becoming the first name on the teamsheet for us and Austria!
Wood 9 - 2 goals

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 8 - Made a rare mistake coming for the corner and not making it for the chance Mario blazed over but made two great stops
Lowton 9 - Gradually nullified the major threat of Antonio
Tarkowski 7 - looked a bit shaky at times especially in the first half but good overall
Mee 7 - Solid enough in the air but exposed abit for pace very occasionally.
Ward 9 - Played a massive part in turning the tide and what a pity Barnes goal was wrongly chalked off following Steven's surging run
JBG 7 - Quiet first half, like the rest of them picked up a bit in the second
Cork 7 - Bossed a bit in the first half dug in a bit more in the second
Westwood 7 - Ditto
Lennon 6 - Gets back and helps out but spasmodic in his contribution and at times effort.
Hendrick 7 - Good on the ball and plenty of effort today
Barnes 9 - Basher kept the flag flying in the opposition half throughout the game and a rallying point for the victory.
Wood 9 - Looking very good today, maybe he was not fully fit when he came back last time as somehow he looks more robust. Couple of tap ins but you have to be there. Early days, but could this partnership be the best one in the top flight since Fletcher and Hankin??

Wood 9 (his presence simply makes all the difference!)
As stated above, very much a game of 2 halves. We weren't great first half and to me allowed a fairly poor team who had zero confidence to come at us and ALMOST get their noses in front. The fact that we went in level at half time was down to a couple of excellent saves from Pope and West Ham's all round lack of self belief. For the second week running the game changed beyond all recognition the second Wood stepped onto the field. Suddenly all their frailties were hopelessly exposed and we were simply rampant. A brilliant strike from Barnes and a few idiots on the pitch and West Ham capitulated and had only one objective in mind - Getting off the field! A brilliant last 35 minutes, but it could have been very different had we not got away with it somewhat in the first half.
On another note. Having visited the old ground I was ticking this one and was dreading the experience from everything that had been said about the venue. BUT, I didn't find it at all bad. Traveled to Stratford on the tube, was fairly close to the pitch behind the goal and got away via Hackney Wick very easily after clapping us off. The sides are a bit odd, granted with the acres between the technical area and the dug out looking simply weird, but overall I couldn't see why everyone hates it so much.
And whilst in the history of pitch invasions yesterday's shenanigans probably wouldn't make a "best of" compilation with slightly pathetic people hopping on and on off the field in ones and twos and dribs and drabs, it was somewhat ridiculous that I saw at least 2 of them get on, muck about for a short while holding the game up and return to their seats without even being grabbed, whereas anywhere else (The Turf?) they'd probably have been tazered! UTC!!

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 8 1 cracking save
Lowton 8 playing quality football
Tarks 8 back in the swing today
Mee 8 solid as ever
Ward 7 solid but left things open a bit in 1st half
Westwood 7 reckless challenge but otherwise solid
Cork 8 good solid show
Lennon 8 fast tricky and tracks back its having a player who can make things happen
JBG 7 always tricky crossing not the best
Hendrick 6 - ok for sure but offers little
Barnes 9 on fire atm and deserves his praise
Wood 9 showing what we’ve missed unselfish too

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 8- pulled off two one on one saves when we were hanging in there.
Lowton 8- solid and anorher great pass for goal.
Tarkowski 7- assured as usual.
Mee 7- a couple of dodgy headers but played his part.
Ward 8- our best left back and got forward well.
Westwood 8- solid and decent on ball. Could have been sent off but tackle was over exuberant rather than Malicious.
Cork 7 steady.
Lennon 7- better in second half when in more attacking positions.
Gudmondson 7- like Lennon better when not playing as an extra full back and shot from central position shows he can be decent option in number 10 role.
Hendrick 6- hardly on ball in first Half and when he was didn't use ball that intelligently.
Barnes 9- another menacing performance and benefited from introduction of wood.
Wood 9- we look so much of a threat when he is up front with Barnes. Stretched the west ham defence and gave them so much to think about.
