Barnes goal
Incredible goal from Barnes today! Is it our best goal this season?
I happened to see Vardy's goal at West Brom at h/t today and didn't think I would see a better goal today....Barnes' goal is right up there with it!

Re: Barnes goal
ours was a better team goal and a very good finish, Vardy's was a brilliant finish (the little ****)
Re: Barnes goal
Jeff Stelling said when the goal went in "is he English or Austrian we could do with him in the world cup". What a finish.

Unbelievable strike today. Thought he was absolutely brilliant. Just love him. And this team. And this manager. And this club.

It's my favourite goal of the season so far I'd say.
A top of the top draw finish.
If he'd been Brazilian or such like, they'd be oohing and aahing about it till the cows come home.

Great technique and a beautiful finish. No keeper would have saved that.

Was very tasty. Barnes and Wood should be targeting double figures - a realistic aim if they can continue playing together for the next 8 (?) games.

Re: Barnes goal
I thought his all round game was very good today, some nice hold up play and layoffs and seems more aware of those around him than he used to -- and I love that he is never afraid to have a pop at goal. That shot today he really hit superbly and a fine diagonal run and set up from Wood.

Re: Barnes goal
I didn’t think Barnes got much joy in the first half - the ball wasn’t sticking and he wasn’t winning headers. However, as soon as Wood went up there with him they were both a real handful.Cajun wrote:I thought his all round game was very good today, some nice hold up play and layoffs and seems more aware of those around him than he used to -- and I love that he is never afraid to have a pop at goal. Re: Barnes goal
From behind the goal where we were it almost looked routine and as he ran onto it you almost expected Barnes to score, but from the other angles you see how far out he really is and it's a brilliant strike.

Re: Barnes goal
Having seen it it had a touch of Aguerro from City. Awesome bend on it and unstoppable
Re: Barnes goal
West Ham goal was a better finish because he was further out but for me Barnes goal against Everton was better.
Beautiful control and pass up the line by Tarks, followed by an even better pass by Lowton, curled around the defender into space for Barnes to run onto and finish with the perfect unstoppable shot.

There can`t be many strikers out there who can hit a ball as cleanly and powerfully as Ashley. Where does yesterday`s rank in the pantheon of stunners he`s scored? Tottenham away the `best`?

Re: Barnes goal
It`s night and day as a lone man and as part of a front two. He still works incredibly hard as a `loner` but never feel he`s going to score. Put him alongside A N other and not only is he a man possessed but a striker with an incredible eye for goal. Irreplaceable!Jakubs Tash wrote:I didn’t think Barnes got much joy in the first half - the ball wasn’t sticking and he wasn’t winning headers. If the net wasn't there, that ball would STILL be travelling. Awesome strike. He proper walloped it.
I'll be very surprised if we see it again though.

Great finish but such an easy football move
That's exactly what Hendrick should be doing, arriving to support the striker and having a few digs at goal.

I too recalled it as a straightforward side foot finish when in truth it was an absolute screamer. One of the goals of the season for me.

Re: Barnes goal
Look at the attitude and demeanour of their No2 when Wood turns to pass to Barnes.
If that was a Burnley player we would up in arms about it, and Dyche would have had his
wotsits on a pole outside the turf.
That's what sets this great team apart from the majority in this league.

Barnes is just what England could do with in Russia, he would put the fear of God into any defence in the world.
He is a better proposition than the two midgets we had playing up front in the euros

Re: Barnes goal
Yesterday's goal and the Tottenham one both quality, surprised no-one mentioned the Palace one in the last minute ..
How many strikers wouid of taken a touch or arched to get it on their stronger foot ? Not Ash .. If the keeper had got in
the way he would of hit the back of the net with it !!
