The well known stupidity of both Liverpool and Man Utd fans was clearly on show in this instance.

Re: Jamie Carragher
hmm, Vegas.... not an over-reaction. He needn't have reacted, but he did. Players get a straight red for spitting, so should he. Sky need to protect their brand....... and in particular in the midst of precarious conversations about Comcast coming to get them
Re: Jamie Carragher
Gobbing on a child is acceptable then,he got what he deserves the sack horrible Scouse prick.[/quote]
I thought he was spitting at the father not the daughter
Who said any of it was acceptable ?
You up for bringing back the death penalty then for Carragher ?
Is what he did worse than pasting the bloke ?

exactly, they get a straight red, find and banned - name a single player that has lost his job for it
The overreaction is colossal

There is indeed the obligatory hysterical overreaction from the hordes of twitter friendless virgins and the like. That said sky are always v quick to fire at the merest whiff ,and this is more than that. Its a disgusting thing to do (if ultimately harmless) but after a match /opposing fans/someone’s young daughter ,it’s suspension behaviour at least for a presenter . Can you imagine Sir Trevor Macdonald throwing a hand full of jizz at a shopper who bumped his trolley? Ultimately harmless but still...,

Well, I am certainly not hysterical, never been on twitter, do have some friends and my children are living proof that I am not a virgin.
What Carragher did was absolutely vile and disgusting. It's quite an alarming reflection on today's society that some people want to play it down.
He is a very high profile sports personality and should have known better. He made a choice to engage with that guy in the vilest of ways, he could of ignored it and driven on.
What sort of message does it send out to young football fans?
I really hope we have seen the last of him on our tv screens.

I would like to think that no-one posting on here would even contemplate spitting at anyone no matter what the 'provocation.' Judging from some of the responses it would seem I am wrong.

Aye - knocking one off in the fruit & veg aisle might end up with a slap on the wrists.
The bit i’m struggling with in this is if Trevor got his trolley bumped by a fellow shopper is that shopper gonna just wait around whilst Sir Trev gets a copy of Razzle out and starts pleasuring himself ? I doubt it.
Or are you saying Sir Trev carries around an emergency jizz stash for these type of incidents ?

Re: Jamie Carragher
I’d rather be punched than spat at, at least I would respect that whoever the person I am in disagreement with is worthy of a response (physical or otherwise) and has a pair of ********.
Being spat at in any context is about as low as it gets in terms of an ‘attack’ on somebody, doing it because someone trolled him a bit about Liverpool losing - and doing it knowing there was a young lass within the crossfire is shameful.
All the comment about the idiot on his phone whilst driving is one thing but that’s an irrelevance to me, I don’t know the driver as he isn’t in the public eye and thus I couldn’t care less about him or his potential license points. Carragher is in the public eye and to do what he did is incredible really, it’s utterly insane to me that his brain would say “spit at him Jamie lad, that’s the right response”. The guy has a screw loose and I think will rightly his lose his very well paid job as a result.

Re: Jamie Carragher
I don't think Carragher is stupid but he's done stupid things before. Wasn't it him that had a coin thrown at him by Arsenal fan, and he picked it up and threw it back (Drogba like you might say).
Yes it was! It's all explained clearly on this video:

Re: Jamie Carragher
Not defending Carragher in any way but the prick driving along and not only fiming it but no doubt looking across whilst driving should be brought to account.
Carragher isn't killing anyone in his moment of stupidity but the other person could have done.
Also I do wonder if it was incident 'closed' until his wife got to hear about it as neither he nor his daughter seemed overly bothered on the video.
Verdict - Carragher will be binned.
The driver will make himself the centre of attention and keep bragging about it until at some point he gets filled in by a Carragher/Liverpool mate/fan.

I am completely with you on that one. If I became involved in an altercation with someone and they punched me in the face I would not be best pleased. If it turned out to be a disgusting slob and they spat in my face I would be bloody furious.

Yes, but they are two separate things. Both idiots. Carragher is filthy disgusting one that happens to be a high profile ex top sportsman and tv pundit and should have known better.
Anyone who thinks about spitting in somebody's face is disgusting pig in my opinion.

I don't think anyone is condoning what he did, and its completely disgusting to do what he did......but I'm not sure he should get sacked for it.
And as a dad, I'm not comfortable with idea of a dad filming on a mobile phone while in a car with his kid.

He'll be binned because Sky wouldn't dare risk a repeat performance. He spat out over nothing - JC certainly has a hair-trigger. Oh, and it goes without saying that the bloke filming, while driving, is an utter prick, but he's not the one on a TV sport programme watched by millions.

Just watched the 12 minute interview he gave with sky news. Excruciating viewing to say the least. Maybe I am soft but I felt for him a bit. The interview which he will have been made to do by his employers seemed like a hatchet job.
If you want to sack him sack him. Dont do that. I know his actions were disgusting but something tells me something horrible had been said which wasn't on video. He must have apologised to the daughter 20 times and inferred something was done to provoke him by the father but wouldnt say what.

Re: Jamie Carragher
Well why spit if he hadn't heard anything. Something happened to make him lose his cool. That banter was pathetic and he hears worse every day I am sure, he isnt the most popular figure with Liverpool fans yet he doesnt spit at people every day.
I think what can be said is the driver was a tool and had no regard for anyone on the road while driving with a video phone in his hand. I would hazard a guess that he had been causing a nuisance on the road to Carragher which had wound him up.
Not excusing his actions but people do far worse everyday. Lets not make out football is whiter than white. These people are brought up in a bubble being told what they want to hear. And as for his punditry career these below still seem to be makung a living from it despite their actions
Linekar - Leicester buy out.....leaving local contractors bankrupt
Ian Wright - Beat his wife
Joey Barton - too many to list
Rio Ferdinand - missed drugs test, threesome video
Lampard - threesome video roasting a bird
Hartson - booted eyal berkovic in the head
Shearer - booting Lennon in the head
Roy Keane - the hangeland career ender

I think it’s highly likely that the incident started a while before the brain donor started filming. Carragher doesn’t need to tell anyone as it would look like he is excusing his actions which he clearly can’t do.TractorFace wrote:Some knob said 2-1 to him and he spat out. Surely you can differentiate between a man hitting another man in the face and a man hitting a girl in the face? The latter would be despicable.
Neither are good behaviors. Most men will have been involved in fisticuffs at some point in their lives (especially when young). Not many men will have spat in the face of another. Presumably because its such a filthy, disgusting act.

Sir Trevor on breakfast tv offering his deepest apologies and explains what really happened “look I’d had a bl00dy long day and this dopey mare bumps my trolley and sends my hob nobs flying, I was furious and simply acted out of frustration ( and a brief lull on the dog food isle) ,and replied like any red blooded man . Completely agree great pundit. I'm surprised he didn't realise he was being filmed. However big mistake and he accepts that. Unacceptable behaviour everyone agrees but he hasn't attacked someone with an axe and murdered them. He has never been shown in a bad light before and it's clear he is mortified.claretnproud wrote:surprised at carrgher but he was clearly spitting at the arsehole football fan who was going out of his way to wind him up whilst driving his wife and child on a busy road.....I hope carragher keeps his job....at least he has some passion....we all make mistakes.
