England squad to be announced at 2 p.m. today
Re: England squad to be announced at 2 p.m. today
Mee not gifted on the ball, so not likely.
Hart he was explained as "74 caps and we don't know what could happen to the other keepers before the WC. We might need that experience".
Cork obviously seen and ditched.
Congrats to Nick Pope and James Tarkowski. You do Burnley proud.

He still doesn't need calling up for a friendly...IanMcL wrote: Hart he was explained as "74 caps and we don't know what could happen to the other keepers before the WC. We might need that experience".
We all know he's got a mistake in him, he doesn't need to keep proving it.

If you leave a fit Hart out, it's incredibly difficult to then recall him. That is the dilemma for Southgate and he doesn't have the balls to do it

Jake Livermore of WBA is ahead of Jack Cork? That is a disgrace!

He won't play and he is making up the number.

Hart shouldn't be anywhere near that squad if picked on anything approaching form. Not been selected by WHU for over 3 months then, on Saturday when he was, dropped a clanger.
Maybe he supplies hair products to the whole squad and Gareth.

The only experience Hart has lately, is picking the ball out of the net.
Likely to be dropped again. Which if it happens would mean a goalie with one first team appearance since before Xmas. Conceded 3 goals, one of them a ricket of his own making.
Southgate must be having liaisons with Harts Mrs., no other explanation could cover it.

Re: Tarky & Pope
Fantastic for the both of them but what on earth does Ben Mee have to do to get noticed?

How Livermore is included over Shelvey is beyond me. I've never understood what Livermore brings to the England squad, or any squad for that matter. The same goes for Mawson over Mee & Lascelles. Fair play to Southgate for excluding Cahill & Smalling though.

Quick bit of 'research' would suggest that's a good choice by Southgate, she's definitely worth one.Colburn_Claret wrote: Southgate must be having liaisons with Harts Mrs., no other explanation could cover it.

On a whole it's not a bad squad but I would have taken Ben Mee instead of Joe Hart and just gone with three keepers, Jack Cork instead of Jake Livermore and Callum Wilson instead of Danny Welbeck

Only England. Simultaneously hopeful and hopeless. Inclusions of Mawson, Tarkowski and Pope show genuine forward thinking. Inclusions of Hart ,Livermore and Welbeck are, to anyone who's seen these three play in 2018 (and not many have seen Hart play let's face it), simply incredulous. Livermore is average in a woeful side.

I think people are being too harsh on Gareth Southgate, his only concern is they safety of the fans. If he takes a squad as bad as this to Russia they will only have to survive a week there.

It's not a Ringo post if he's not posted the exact same thing on two separate threads.FactualFrank wrote:You can say that again.

Given how badly he's been playing for the last few years I can only assume that he is.Sidney1st wrote:Hart would go even if he's injured

In fairness to Will from Aldershot, Ben Mee is probably better in goal than Hart.

4 'keepers and only 3 strikers. Just shows which way Southgate thinks the ball will be going this summer.

Livermore
Cook
Welbeck
All strange inclusions.
Cork and Shelvey are better than Cook and Livermore
Wilson,Solanke, Abraham, Barnes, Murray are all better than Welbeck.
