Robbie Brady

Post by burnley007 » Fri Mar 16, 2018 11:17 pm

Any news on the injury?
Will he be ready for preseason?

I hope he gets back to the level he was pre injury.
He was magnificent.

He was in a really decent run of form prior to the injury and that is how he is being remembered but go a bit further back and more than a few were questioning his overall contribution.

Burnley players always seem to get better the longer they are injured :D but I do hope he is fit soon. It will be good to have 3 decent wingers in the squad.

I agree...but that's what is so frustrating, he really was becoming a star. There was obviously a lot of work going in to improve him and it was really paying off. I think he was the most creative player we had just before he got injured.

No argument there, the positive thing for us was the upsurge in form of JBG who took on the role of dead ball striker and is just getting better and better.

I think with Brady (just like Defour) both benefitted from "An SD Pre-Season". Went into the season fit and sharp.

Defour, Brady, Lennon, JBG, Cork... What a set of midfielders we have. We've certainly come along way from signing Lenny Johnrose for the 18th time.

More recent than the repeated signings of Lenny. Look at the midfield in the 14-15 season and the real problems we had after Deano's first cruciate injury

With Marney and Arfied likely to leave, we will need more cover in this area

Assuming Marney and Arfield leave we'd still be left with Defour, Cork, Westwood and Hendrick in the centre plus Aiden O Neill for emergencies. I agree we'd have to strengthen the wide areas though, wouldn't be surprised if we tried to sign McLean from West Brom, his name seems to keep cropping up the same way Nahki Wells did.

Promising to hear. Thanks Reecey.

As others have said his form was excellent prior to his injury and it was a real blow to us. He gave a number of man of the match performances that pushed us to winning positions.

I've got my tin hat ready so here goes. Apart from his free kicks I can't say I've seen anything special from him, especially as a flair player, infact if I'm honest I think he was dissapointing and expected much more, he was often caught in possession. Obviously I want him to do well so hope his recovery goes well with a view to a lot more to come.

Last summer I would have completely agreed with you...but he improved massively as the season went.

Yes I agree. But I would like to see a good enforcer in there as well. A young Marney. Hehe

I was delighted when we signed him. Then somewhat disappointed with his contributions. And then again delighted that he was starting to show the level of performance that I’d hoped for when we signed him.
A player of genuine quality who was a real loss to the team when he got injured.
Thankfully JBG came in and has been excellent.
A real squad we’ve got here.

No idea how’s he’s doing but it was a real blow that just when he was playing very well he gets crocked. Hope he fully recovers well.

Is he a winger?

I never realised.

Brady was playing well before his injury and not just him! The continuity of the team looked excellent with him and Ward down the same side. Ok not everything goes to plan for Brady but when players try different things to perhaps unlock a defence, then it doesn’t always come off. I don’t understand the people who slate him so much.

Apart from his free kicks or do you mean his assists which actually play a part in football. People are judging him on losing the ball however the number of assists he was getting was up there. As for losing the ball it's because he was trying to do something rather than just pass back no blame for that just being brave.

Brady has a terrific understanding with Ward (and Hendrick) and he was playing very well just before he got injured - he was magnificent at Bournemouth the game before he got injured.

Hopefully he’s back and 100% fit for the start of pre-season.
