Gap 7 points to Watford and below with everyone having a far inferior GD

Just posted similar on the other thread.
Late wins for Everton and Bournemouth mean that a top 10 finish isn't guaranteed yet, but we'll have to have a fairly bad run to finish below Bournemouth.
If we play to our usual level and have even the smallest bit of luck, then it should be a 3 horse race for 7th with us as favourites.

Then again, WBA & Stoke away won't be easy for us.

When West Brom went 0-1 up today I thought it's proabably a good result for us as it sees off Bournemouth. But the last thing we need is West Brom getting a bit of steam just before we play them.

Wouldn't that therefore be a 2 or 3 way shoot out for 8th, if Arsenal are to finish 7th!! :)

I’m confident of a top 9 finish. We have a slim chance of 6th place but more realistically 7th-9th. I’m guessing it will be 7th or 8th.

Our key players getting injured has cost us a comfortable top 6 finish. However, which of us really believed we would finish 7th or 8th? What a season!

Absolutely. I think most fans would have been happy with 7th or 8th from the bottom. ;)

It is a 2 way battle for 6th.

One if those 2 will finish 7th. The rest are looking at 8th.

Doesn't work like that.

Had we had more players fit and been closer to Arsenal then both clubs may have possibly changed the way previous games were played. We might never have got a draw against Man City, for example if Defour & Brady had been fit. Arsenal may have approached some of their matches in a different manner had we been breathing down their necks.

And let's not forget that Lennon has had a good impact and is possibly a better player than Brady anyway.

So it's a 2 way shoot-out for 6th, a 3 way shoot-out for 7th, and a 2 or 3 way shoot-out for 8th.
That's not to mention 7th.
I'm confused :? .

Also, if you follow that logic, you have to admit that other club's players injuries would have cost them points too. In other words we'd probably be about where we are.

So it guarantees us another 20m approx as a minimum. Unless we have a catastrophic end to the season we're nailed on for top 10.

Crazy really as our turnover in the championship wasn't a great deal more than that. Before parachute payments started coming into us obviously.

I think weve a cracking chance of beating WBA and Watford.

Then the Leicester game will be massive.

I don’t think we’ll finish 7th, but we’re now at the stage where it’ll be a tad disappointing if we don’t finish in the top half.

As far as Im concerned had we had everybody 100% fit each game we’d be at least 43 points clear at the top.

We are bloody fantastic!!

Can’t see Everton getting much out of their next two games, and I don’t see Leicester’s run-in being any easier than ours.

Our next home game will be massive.

we've been 7th or above all season, if we finish 8th i will be disappointed, we have a chance for Europe, it may never happen again.

If Utd or Spurs win FACup then two Europa League places go to 5th & 6th, we only get 2 Europa places(6 Europe places total) .. England only get 7th if one of their clubs win Europa a get extra Champions League place, as Utd did last season. Utd were technically representing UEFA in champions league not EPL

5th placed team get a spot
FA Cup winners get a spot
League Cup winners get a spot.

In the instance that a cup winner qualifies through their league position the next highest team in the table qualifies. Doesn't matter about Arsenal in Europa.

The Premier League gets 7 European spots. Assuming Manu, Spurs or Chelsea win the FA cup 7th place definitely gets in the Europa league.

As long as Southampton don't win the FA Cup it's now just as straight shootout to finish 7th and get in the Europa league.

7th means you still have to qualify for Europa League so depends who you have to play to make Europa League proper.

Isn't the qualifying round usually played against some part time Albanian sheep farmers though?

I can see one of the following UTC meltdowns occurring:

A - we don't qualify for the Champions or Europa League

B - we lose on away goals to KF Skënderbeu Korçë in the Europa League qualifying round with loads of posters missing out on tickets due to club only taking 200 allocation.

Think Everton had Hadjuk Split in the final qualifier, certainly not mugs.
