Kit Manufacturer Next Season
Kit Manufacturer Next Season
Is this our last year of the Puma deal? If so, does anyone know if we’re changing manufacturer?

How long do we have to be in the PL to get a bespoke strip, like Arsenal?

You can have what you want, within the regulations, if you are prepared to pay for it.
So, generic kit it is for us then.

No qualms with Puma this year. Both this season’s kits are fantastic.

I forever look on enviously at West Ham’s home shirts. Classic , traditional.

I'd love an under armour kit not gonna lie... Purely for the training gear range...
Although I've always wondered what a kappa Burnley shirt would look like this

Another vote here for Under Armour. I can’t recall but I thought next season was the last for the current Puma deal?

I rarely buy our shirts but even I bought the home one this season - I think it's the best we've had for many years. The away kit is quality as well, apart from the Play Golf Clash on the sleeve, but we can't blame Puma for that!

Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
Technically the kit manufacturer is Genesis Sports, using a licence from Puma
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... ma-4802887Genesis Sports, based at the Sharston Industrial Estate, Wythenshawe, has won a new contract to continue as suppliers of Puma team sports kits, training wear and accessories in the UK and Ireland.
The licence will allow the £7.5m turnover company to build on its established partnerships with professional football clubs including Reading and Cardiff City, as well as rugby union and league teams.
Managing director John Howarth said: “We’ve just reached our tenth anniversary of working with Puma, so signing on the dotted line with them to extend the partnership is a real boost for us and provides us with a springboard for future growth.
“We can continue to deliver exceptional service to our partner clubs but this latest deal also allows us to spread our wings and widen our provision of high quality technical kit and training wear.”
Among the teams that play in kits made by Genesis are Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday, Preston North End, rugby union team Bath and rugby league's Castleford Tigers.
Genesis has also recently entered the education market in a move to broaden its revenue streams by supplying playing and training gear to college, university and school sports teams.
Tony Ward, general manager for Puma in the UK, said: “The team at Genesis Sports is equipped with the knowledge and industry expertise to give professional football clubs all the products and service they need.
“We’re happy to have completed this new deal with the company and look forward to developing our business partnership over the coming decade.”
Genesis, which has 45 staff, was founded in 1995 by Jonathan Hamburger, who is the current chairman, and John Howarth who is now the managing director.
Genesis has also re-launched its e-commerce website which offers a range of Puma kit, training wear, boots and accessories for professional and amateur football, rugby union and rugby league players.

In any case, we are still with Puma next season. Just hope the rumour I've heard that the away kit could be black is just that, a rumour.

I didn’t mind the black kit. I wasn’t so keen on the silver trim, but I thought it was nice. You can’t have white, yellow or blue every year, it’s nice to mix it up from time to time.ClaretTony wrote: Just hope the rumour I've heard that the away kit could be black is just that, a rumour.
I’d like to see the design of this seasons away kit in Claret and Blue for the Home strip.

Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
Don't know why not, they are the three popular colours that we can all relate to. The black and silver concoctions didn't sell either.claptrappers_union wrote:You can’t have white, yellow or blue every year
Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
That's what you'd expect. The kit deals for most of the major clubs involve a high initial payment to the club and then royalties after a (generally very large) number of shirts are sold. It is possible that the payment/royalty would be lower with a bespoke kit given we don't sell huge volumes.Garnerssoap wrote:I’ve heard this before. I imagine our deal isn't great which is partly made up for by the fact that we only sell in the clubshop so generate more profit there (but will limit people outside Burnley buying the shirt).
Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
With Tony on this. I prefer our away kit colour to somehow relate to us as a club. White and blue are obvious, yellow less so, although there’s now a tradition going back 40 years of us wearing yellow away, so I don’t mind (and it’s the first away kit I owned as well).ClaretTony wrote:Don't know why not, they are the three popular colours that we can all relate to. Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
I include yellow for that very reason, we've been using it for over 40 years now and it is considered one of our colours for away kits. It's not a colour I like personally, and have never owned a yellow away shirt, but it has to be included.martin_p wrote:With Tony on this. You’d think it was time to take another look at this decision given:aggi wrote: I imagine our deal isn't great which is partly made up for by the fact that we only sell in the clubshop so generate more profit there (but will limit people outside Burnley buying the shirt).
a) you’d expect a wider market outside Burnley these days given our success, and
b) profit from shirt sales can’t be as big a deal as it was given the vast amounts of TV money we now get.

ha ha - that was in the Andrew Watson days. They were already manufacturing it and the vote could only ever going to have one result. Hardly surprising from him though.whentheballmoves wrote:On the away kit, have a vote, like they did a fair few years ago now.

Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
I too hope we don't have black away shirts. I've always thought on a dark winters night that for players wearing black shirts it can't be easy for their teamates to pick them out in the distance. I'm sure I once read Fergie mentioning this.
Re: Kit Manufacturer Next Season
Forgetting the design for a moment, but I absolutely love it when we do a yellow and claret away kit, especially when bit colours are subdued a little.

The kit at the top which Sir Billy Hamilton is wearing had a magic badge!UpTheBeehole wrote:We've had some great and iconic yellow kits, and personally I prefer them
Half the team wore it with the crest on the left breast and the other had the crest also bang in the middle, sometimes if a replacement shirt was needed mid match the player could have a shirt with a magic badge where it had moved position on the players original shirt

Yellow and Claret together is the absolute business.
I did like the Blue and Claret one in the Play Off season though.
This season's kits are good as well.

This. Black and Silver have nothing to do with us. If someone at the club makes a decision to have a black kit I hope they say publicly that they made the decision. It will be an awful one.ClaretTony wrote:Don't know why not, they are the three popular colours that we can all relate to. The black and silver concoctions didn't sell either.

Yellow and claret is my favourite combo for an away kit, with white in 2nd place.
Not a fan of blue away kits at all, but they're still better than black.

It's all personal choice and white is my preferred option. But these are the three colours we've come to expect for our away kit and I think we should probably just alternate them in three year cycles.Walton wrote:Yellow and claret is my favourite combo for an away kit, with white in 2nd place.

Random trivia - I have Ted McMinn's Yellow and Black shirt, framed on my wall, from the Boro v Burnley game pictured with Davis and Robson.
Back onto the topic, I like the yellow / claret combo and particularly liked the #awaywego style pictured with DEAN MARNEY, featuring the claret and yellow hooped socks. That said, I am a big fan of the current away shirt.
What about a black / tinfoil silver quarters style away shirt...

A lot of the World Cup kits have a retro feel and I'd be more than happy for that to be the case with our away kit if we had an updated version of the Billy Hamilton number. That's a proper kit, love it!
