When are they likely to hear about any sanction for the club?

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
That's a different process. The FA are investigating that and it is they who will take action against West Ham. This is West Ham trying to get their house in a bit of order I would think by banning those who they've identified as either pitch encroachment or missile throwing.simonclaret wrote:When are they likely to hear about any sanction for the club?
None of this gets to the problem though which is the situation between club and fans, particularly with the move to the London Stadium. It wasn't helped recently when Karren Brady, reportedly, met with their right wing group. They've moved forward on that this week with Sullivan having a meeting with their ISA who have called it a positive first meeting. To be honest, I think it is going to take a hell of a lot for them to come to any sort of agreement on things.
This morning's statement from West Ham re the life bans.
West Ham United can confirm that swift and decisive action has been taken against a number of spectators who breached stadium regulations or were found to have committed acts of severe violence and physical aggression at our recent Premier League match against Burnley.
Lifetime bans from all West Ham United matches, both home and away, have today been issued to five individuals who crossed safety barriers to enter the field of play – a criminal offence that is a severe breach of stadium safety regulations - while a number of individuals have also been banned for life for violently throwing coins or objects with intent to injure or harm on the bridge directly in front of the Directors’ Box.
Furthermore, a number of additional incidents, including attempted pitch incursions and acts of violence, are currently being investigated in collaboration with stadium operators LS185 and the police. The Club expect to issue further bans based on witness statements and the high quality CCTV footage available, prior to our next home match against Southampton on 31 March.
West Ham United would like to reiterate that the safety and security of our supporters, players and staff remains our absolute priority at London Stadium. We take a zero tolerance approach to any form of violence that endangers the welfare of others, and we are committed to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all spectators.

The bloke who was chased up the stand to the right of us gave it a real go at getting away, I'm impressed if they physically caught him.

No arrests on the day, all been done with CCTV apparently although one pitch encroacher gave himself up.Sidney1st wrote:The bloke who was chased up the stand to the right of us gave it a real go at getting away, I'm impressed if they physically caught him.

Yup, not great, but if you will put down your soy latte and enter the playing surface, that can well happen.claret wizard wrote:There's video on you tube where you can see other West Ham fans punching him in the face as he returns to his seat.

I hope West Ham get a ban. The club have got the stadium for next to nowt and can't be arsed implementing the appropriate security to police their chavvy Essex supporters.

Given they dont have their own security the people banned will most likely still attend

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
Most of those fans banned for life will be diehard West Ham fans who have watched what is going on at their club with disdain.. We all know what it feels like when your club is on a downward spiral to oblivion don't we ? . Got to feel for them really ,It's just a shame they couldn't find a better way to protest than going on the pitch and disrupting the game like they did... I'm sure they will still find a way of watching the Hammers though..

They're hardly in a downward spiral.
They're where everyone else expected West Ham to be, just the fans expected to be higher up the table.

Since the millennium they've had 3 seasons outside the PL, finished top half PL 6 times and the rest has been mid-lower PL; exactly where they are now. They might think they should be doing better but they certainly don't have a recent history that suggests they'll do that (they've only finished higher than 9th once since 2000 for example). The stadium is a mess, the Boardroom is a mess, but the team is pretty much doing what they always do!!

So Mark Noble gets a life ban then? Mmmm, they'll be needing a new captain I take it. (Let's hope the CCTV isn't that good or Our Ashley might get one too!)

The one who handed himself in was the one who planted the corner flag on the centre spot was a 61 year old who has supported them for 49 years.

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
Just wonder what life time ban means, is it 15 years, 10 years , or 1 season 2 seasons as they did not kill any one I did not see any of the supporters who ran on hit or kick or throw any one to the floor (did see two people who did throw someone and one kick a fan). Yes it is an offence but then there have been quite a few pitch invasions etc where either no bans or 2 years.

Be interesting to see how lifetime bans are actually enforced. Do they have an automatic electronic system for identifying names? A rogues gallery of photographs in the ticket office and in the pockets of stewards? I suspect that most of them will give this season a miss but find ways to get back on to see games.

While that is true what you have to also consider is that theyre performing at a similar level having moved from their spiritual home.jlup1980 wrote:You've hit the nail on the head there Sidney1st!!

Had Burnley been moved to Nelson. The turf buldozed and sold off. Us move into a non footballing stadium at next to no cost with the promise of investment amd champions league and we were battling where we had always been I wouldnt pitch invade id burn the new place down!!!
Id sooner be where weve always been in the stadium weve always been than move to some flash new stadium out of town and be no better.

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
They've only been in the place a couple of seasons now.
It takes time to find the right manager and then build the squad for a crack at CL football.
Or were they expecting it to change over night??

I dont disagree but I too would be very impatient. Seeing clubs like Leicester win the league will only make it worse for WHU. One off or not!Sidney1st wrote:They've only been in the place a couple of seasons now.

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
Leicester were in a unique situation where everyone was working together at the exact same time the top clubs had a rubbish season at virtually the same time.
Compare that to the following season when the top teams sorted themselves out, Chelsea poached Kante, the team struggled and eventually appeared to down tools for Ranieri.
That one season it all lined up nicely for Leicester who worked very hard to get that title, but any other season and it wouldn't happen.
West Ham are just a shambles, poor transfers, some odd managerial appointments etc.

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
I agree completely with what you're saying. The off field side of things is an abomination. The change of stadium has been a total disaster. I don't think I've heard a single positive thing about the new stadium from a footballing viewpoint.cricketfieldclarets wrote:While that is true what you have to also consider is that theyre performing at a similar level having moved from their spiritual home.

If we moved from the turf I'd hope to move into a purpose built football stadium at the very least! Surely that's a prerequisite for any club... apart from West Ham of course!!

I think you're right up to a point, but I do wonder how vociferous the whole campaign would be if they were 7th in the league and looking comfortable. For some, I agree it would make no difference, but for a lot they just wouldn't be joining in or rocking the boat I suspect.ClaretTony wrote:I think those who think it is down to results are wide of the mark.

If they were top not many would be complaining. I doubt any at City are now.
Clubs shouldnt move so far though. Its just a more local MK Dons. Stratford and West Ham are two completely different places.

Re: Life bans confirmed at West Ham
Agree to some extent Dark Cloud and no doubt those who ran on would not have done so had we not taken the lead. But the campaign has been going on a lot longer than the disappointing results, stretching back right to the beginning of last season. Nothing has been done, the club have buried their heads in the sand and this is the result.Dark Cloud wrote:I think you're right up to a point, but I do wonder how vociferous the whole campaign would be if they were 7th in the league and looking comfortable. I think it's only because the Olympics cleared everything before constructing all of Queen Elizabeth Park, including London Stadium and Westfield developed the shopping centre that the place is different from Upton Park/Boleyn.

My dad lived in Stratford for some time, before the Olympics. Definitely a different place. Its the same distance and time roughly as Spurs to Arsenal.
