Loose fitting football shirts

Post by claret59 » Mon Apr 02, 2018 8:46 am

Watching James Tarkowski having his shirt pulled off his back by an opponent in front of a referee who was obviously of the opinion that, despite FA instructions to 'clamp down on this conduct, believed it was perfectly acceptable to do so, got me thinking as to why Burnley don't follow some other teams in the matter of having tight fitting shirts that are not so susceptible to being grabbed by the handful.
I may be wrong but this practice of tighter fitting shirts seems to have originated in Rugby League and has obviously been successful so a number of Football clubs have followed their example, and it seems to have worked in making it difficult to grab the shirt of an opponent when you cannot 'get a grip.'

Yeah, tight fitting shirts coated with Vaseline ought to do it.

I think they should follow the lead of the Peaky Blinders and sew razor blades into the material.

I think tight fitting shirts might have a detrimental effect on the sale of replicas :D

I saw a comedy item on German tv where they had Velcro seams. Not a stupid idea.

Could follow suit with rugby and have a lifelike replica and a standard 'cheaper' one that isn't skin tight - although not suggesting it to be made out of cotton with a thick collar and have claret & blue horizontal stripes....

I have always thought that Velcro would provide the answer to shirt grabbing. Was not award it was already in action. Great stuff.

I think a new rule allowing a player to stick the head on another who is pulling the shirt like we saw on Saturday should come in.

We could use VAR.

Over to the video referee............ Oh yes he was pulling his shirt like a girl. And now he's got a fat lip and it's a penalty.

How many weeks would it take Alli and the like to work out that you could pull your own shirt Velcro off to claim a penalty?

As I posted yesterday, I was at Wigan Warriors and whilst there I paid a visit to
their club shop.

If you want loose fitting shirts, then that's the place to go. I picked one up and it was an
8XL.

It was like a blinkin' awning. :D

What about shirts with no arms. That would rid us of handballs too. Obviously keep arms for goalkeeper shirts

Surely, the baggier the shirt, the easier it is for the ref to spot it being pulled
