Brighton game

Post by catcatcher » Thu Apr 05, 2018 7:58 pm

My friend is a Brighton fan- unfortunate I know. He is visiting for the Brighton game with a couple of mates and wants to know the best pubs which will let them in. I know the cricket club is recommended but not sure of others as I now live in Devon. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

The Bridge tends to be very 'away ' friendly.

My older brother came up with his Southampton supporting mate recently. Took him to Ministry of Ale, New Brew and Miners he had a great day!

All pubs are alright if not in big groups or acting up.

Some near the ground are home supporters only.

if you want to drink round the ground its the Cricket club or fanzone for an unaccompanied away fan. nowhere on Yorkshire st will allow you wearing away colours.

Ministry of Ale, Brun Lea, Real Ale Factory and New Brew-m all sell fantastic Real ale at prices that will astound some chap from Brighton!

The Ministry of Ale is good if you want to sit in a room resembling Fritzl's cellar, supping home brew with dimwits and alcoholics.

We live in East Devon at the moment but are looking to move. Funnily enough looked at a house in Ashford near Barnstaple this week. Fantastic views but needs a lot doing to it. Don’t think the husbands DIY skills are enough!

Very nice. If you see a house with minimum two acres of land within walking distance of amenities up to £700k let us know please. Struggling to find anything that’s not in the middle of nowhere and we need a local pub :D

Small ish town or village with pub, shop, cafe ideal. Location anywhere as no work ties. Not Barnstaple itself as too big.

Talbot always a good place for well behaved ale drinkers. Never seen an issue in there and just down road from the Vic.

Whereabouts is the Real Ale Factory, not heard of it before but sounds like somewhere I need to try!

Some comments re the bridge seem to intimate that it’s not the place to go but I’ve no idea why. See away fans down ther most times I’m ther and never seen any bother. It’s amongst the friendliest pubs in town on match days. Also happens to be one of the best pubs in town. The Talbot is good if wanting to watch the early kick off. Heading closer to the ground it’s the cricket club or the fan zone, avoid anything in between. Queen Vic is a safe option but is a generic chain pub with no soul.

I went in the New Brew'm and the Bridge with a City supporting friend recently, no problems at all. Great beer and astonishing prices.
