Possibly or possibly not but we'll never know. But even if we only sold 500 it would be 500 more Burnley supporters there! And 1000 unsold tickets would only have cost the club an absolute maximum of £26,000 and probably less as they wouldn't have had to pay for all of them at the adult price. Also, what's to say that we wouldn't have sold them?Burnleybabe wrote:Being a Devils Advocate, would we really have sold another 1500 Tickets????

[quote="aggi"]The club have provided the reasoning behind not taking the maximum allocation. It does seem an issue that the allocation couldn't be adjusted after the date was confirmed and obviously the fact that the previous match sold out means it isn't that useful a benchmark. Not quite sure about the player of the year comment either as it wasn't going to be on the same day as the match:
The ticket allocation for Arsenal was decided upon due to a number of factors.
The decision to take the allocation had to be made via Arsenal 2 weeks ago.
Our last visit to the Emirates had an away attendance of 1422.
The game has recently been rearranged to the Sunday, with limited transport options for fans due to it being a bank holiday. In addition, at the time of the decision the actual time and date of the reschedule was unconfirmed and could have been on the Monday evening (7th May)
A similar situation occurred at the Everton away match this season where BFC took the maximum allocation of tickets and there were similar transport issues for fans. Ultimately only around half of these tickets were purchased by fans and BFC had to pay for the rest, due to Everton’s selling conditions of no sale or return.
The game also clashed with the original date of the Player of the Year Awards dinner which has just under 1000 fans attending.
So while in isolation I understand that some fans may feel aggrieved to not be able to get a ticket due to the clubs position in the league, and the potential repercussions of the game, this wasn’t to be known at the time of the decision being made. Therefore bearing all the above into consideration the ‘next to maximum’ ticket allocation has been taken on this occasion.[/quo
Sorry but there was never any chance of it being played on the Monday evening as Arsenal already had a game scheduled against Leicester on the following Wednesday.

You can knock the max of £26k down for VAT and (probably) the admin retention by the away club (about 5% rings a bell but this can vary and may be nil) to c£20k. Still goes to show just how little we are talking about in the scheme of things.Leisure wrote:Possibly or possibly not but we'll never know. I have had a few issues with the ticket office including when they ballsed my season ticket up before the 2014 season and displayed a shocking attitide towards me when i went down to rectify the situation (but thats a different story) that said they have improved in recent times however as said this sort of thing is happening all too often. There are a few there who strike me as being way to comfortable.

Home end for me and my Dad. The only other time we did that was the Championship winning game at Charlton, so hopefully the omens are good. Just hope we don’t get on telly again holding a massive ‘owners out’ banner!

They could have easily moved that Leicester game. I wouldn't have thought there was any chance we'd have been playing Chelsea on a Thursday, especially with the Stoke game on a Saturday, but here we are.Leisure wrote:Sorry but there was never any chance of it being played on the Monday evening as Arsenal already had a game scheduled against Leicester on the following Wednesday.

Me too. What options do you have? Buying a membership just for this game is really expensive...Pearcey wrote:Home end for me and my Dad. If you buy membership for the Gooners, make sure you don't give yourself away by asking for tickets for "the Arsenal game"

Maybe Arsenal could make a gesture, goven that they’re recent home games have been rather less than fully attended, and send us the other tickets anyway!

I think it's mainly season ticket holders not turning up leaving all the empty seats.scouseclaret wrote:Maybe Arsenal could make a gesture, goven that they’re recent home games have been rather less than fully attended, and send us the other tickets anyway!

Yes, I think we could've shifted most of those.

So do I. Accy Clarets have already had 24 cancellations from people who didn't manage to get tickets.Sidney1st wrote:Bank holiday weekend in London...

Has Fred Karno from the Club who made this ridiculous decision not yet been identified?
I take it that if Accy Clarets have had this number of cancellations that other supporters groups will be losing money as well.
It's a complete joke.

Someone clearly didn't take into consideration our current league position, nor did they think we may be in with a chance of over taking Arsenal. The decision to take the allocation had to be made via Arsenal 2 weeks ago.
Our last visit to the Emirates had an away attendance of 1422.
Maybe they haven't heard the fans singing about a European tour?
Re: 2017/18: Arsenal v Burnley – Ticket Information
Just had this response from the Marketing and Operations Manager...
“ Unfortunately yes you are correct and the allocation for Arsenal away has sold out, and there is no further option available to Burnley FC to get any further tickets.
I sympathise that on this occasion you haven't been able to get a ticket, but the decision on the allocation was taken due to a number of factors, which at the time indicated that the take up of tickets may not reach the maximum.
Obviously the coincidence of the club attaining 5 consecutive wins (which is something the club has never done before), and the fact Arsenal have lost during that time, has meant that the game is of much more significance now than it was when we had to make the decision of how many tickets to take.
If we had the opportunity to make the decision on the allocation this week, bearing in mind the current run of results in the meantime, then of course the request would have been different. However the decision had to made two weeks ago, and we can only base our request on the factors at the time, not on speculating fixture predictions.
We are keeping all comments from fans on record and will take them all into consideration over the summer when we look at ticketing policy as a whole.
I apologise for you not being able to get a ticket on this occasion, and thank you for your email

Re: 2017/18: Arsenal v Burnley – Ticket Information
And didn’t it say on the website that fans were able to buy up to 4 tickets each ? I assume that included the Season Ticket holders. Explains why the allocation was quickly sold out. So I made the point that what has rapidly become a huge match for both Burnley and Arsenal will turn out to be more of a family outing than a true-fan attended fixture and that there’ll be people there who rarely watch Burnley, home or away. I might be wrong and apologise if I am.
I have the utmost respect for the Club and it’s officials, it’s a prime example of a well-run football club with everything in perfect symmetry. But, let’s be honest, someone’s made a real mistake here and it’s the fans that’ll suffer. Weeks ago I could sense this match was gonna have a lot hanging on it. Thousands must have seen this coming - unfortunately not those who made the decision on how many tickets we took from Arsenal.
3,500 tickets offered to us - and we only took 2,000. ‘ Gutted ‘ doesn’t cover it !

Only once it hits general sale (which it didn't). One season ticket (with requisite points), one ticket before that.NoelH wrote:And didn’t it say on the website that fans were able to buy up to 4 tickets each ?

Hi All,
Looking for a spare ticket if anyone has one.
I live in London and would be happy to meet prior to the game if for any reason someone ends up with an extra ticket.
Your first beer is on me if you get me in.
Cheers

That's the weak link. 5000 point person but can take 0 points folk for a London visit, whilst regulars miss out.NoelH wrote:And didn’t it say on the website that fans were able to buy up to 4 tickets each ? it was one ticket per clarets number and all clarets numbers had to have 5000 points.
there's no problem withe way the tickets were sold (apart from the idiotic release times), its the amount that's the problem.
no two ways about it, its a stupid decision from someone who has no idea what they are doing.

Hopefully one positive that may come out of thus whole sorry mess is it forces the club to accept things need to improve next season. Not holding my breath though...

Whoever makes these decisions at the club is obviously not a football person. The last away game of the season always brings more away supporters. The way the team have performed this season away from home should also be a factor, as well that match not being on TV
