So what are the non-penalties not awarded to us at home in the league this season then?

Au contraire, I'm not the one who started a thread crying that we haven't had a (league) penalty.Lord Beamish wrote:Wow! UptheBeehole really has sand in his fanny about this, hasn’t he?
I'm more than happy with how the team are doing without penalties.

Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
Do you not have a sense of humour then? As I've said, all I did was state a fact. I then tried to say something humorous about the nature of winning penalties. If you didn't think it was funny then i'm sorry, but if you think I'm having a whinge about anything you're well wide of the mark. I'm not the whinging type when it come to football, always been glass half full.UpTheBeehole wrote:Your ridiculous OP

Why are you just talking about home games ?
See you are being as charming as ever on this thread ! Is this the way you conduct yourself in the rest of your life ? Or is just this forum ?

I saw Dave Roberts bring up the West Ham one the other day. I had a perfect, perfect view of it from the CFS and Hart clearly got the ball.

Your perfect view was wrong. Here’s the link (from around 1m 25s).Walton wrote:I saw Dave Roberts bring up the West Ham one the other day. I had a perfect, perfect view of it from the CFS and Hart clearly got the ball.

I suppose if you’re being really pedantic you could say Hart got the ball, but he had to go through the back of Wood’s legs first.
Sorry for linking to the Sun - it was the only one I could find.

I've never had a perfect view ever whilst at the match.

I think that video shows how it wasn't a penalty. Hart clearly wins the ball and Wood getting hit is secondary. A ball and man challenge anywhere else on the pitch is seen as a great thing.Greenmile wrote:Your perfect view was wrong. Here’s the link (from around 1m 25s).

You must be kidding. Wood clearly gets there first then Hart goes through the back of him. You can even see how Hart pulls his hands away (after the contact) because he knows what he’s done.Walton wrote:I think that video shows how it wasn't a penalty. No matter where you are on the pitch, you can’t go through the back of the opposition player to get the ball.
I’m not buying into any anti-Burnley conspiracy theories or anything - refs are fallible like everyone else, and I can’t think of many other clear cut pens we’ve been denied this season (only Hendrick v Huddersfield off the top of my head) - but that’s as clear a penalty as they come.

Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
Actually I think there is a connection here in that, like us, Swansea are seen as one of the minnows of the league. I wouldn’t say it was a conspiracy but I do think referees a psychologically biased towards giving more of these big decisions to the bigger clubs.UpTheBeehole wrote:Did we have a thread about it when Swansea went over a year without a penalty?

If our keeper made that amount of contact on the ball while simultaneously taking the man, and a penalty was awarded, there'd be a riot.Greenmile wrote:You must be kidding. It's not a case that Hart only got the ball because he got Wood. I can't even see that Hart gets Wood before the ball. What's clear is that Hart undoubtedly wins the ball, and that's what the ref is looking for. It's not a penalty.
I played as a keeper for ages, with a certain degree of success, and I'd get sent off for protesting if that was given against me.
Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
The Lössl one is a completely different matter, was a penalty, and he even admitted it.
Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
I thought that the 2 year record was not scoring from corners until we got one at Ipswich away in a 1-1 draw. There again there have been some games in years gone by where we could have played for 2 years and not scored.scouseclaret wrote:Did we not go 2 full years without getting a penalty a few years ago?
Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
You’d probably have had even more success if you’d learned the rules of the game - a ‘keeper can’t take man then ball without giving away a foul (if the ref sees it right). If you can’t see that Hart took Wood out before he touched the ball you also need your eyes testing.Walton wrote:If our keeper made that amount of contact on the ball while simultaneously taking the man, and a penalty was awarded, there'd be a riot.

Hart knew he’d fouled him - you can tell by his reaction - and even ex-Hammer Iain Dowie on the commentary says it’s a clear penalty, and I suspect he might have experienced a larger degree of success than you did on the football field.
Hand on heart, if that had been given against us, I’d have had no complaints.

The last time we got a penalty according to my almanac I was in nappies saying mama dada titty......and no i am not a politician it was over fifty years ago. Therefore as a stroll down memory lane is required I'll soil myself and puke down a bystander.

"It's a penalty," he said. "Joe Hart comes out too fast, he pulls his arms away but his body knocks him over. He has a go at Chris Wood which he shouldn't have done, he's got away with one there." - Danny Murphy

Oh right. When was the 6-4 one, ridiculous scoring 4 away and not even getting a point.1963Claret wrote:No we won 2-0.
Re: If we don't get a penalty on Saturday...
We were minnows last year but we got quite a few penalties, some of them wrongly. I reckon it's just coincidence - after all, there are twenty clubs in the league and one of them has to be most unlucky on the rough end of wrong decisions.scouseclaret wrote:Actually I think there is a connection here in that, like us, Swansea are seen as one of the minnows of the league. Penalties are more or less random nowadays - very tiny touches can be construed as fouls but most often aren't - and if twenty teams have five 50-50 decisions, the majority will get two or three in the favour, the unlucky few will get only 1 (while the lucky get 4), but the chances are better than even that one team will get 5 in their favour and that another team will get 5 against.

Yeah, you're right. Memory fails me. I remember asking now how many teams have scored 5 away and got no points. Oh those were dire days but I suppose we sort of enjoyed them in a strange and masochistic way.1963Claret wrote:It was 6-5 actually!

thought they where some dubious decisions today by Atkinson
Barnes was barged into by Simson at full pelt that then lead Barnes sliding into Schmeichel and Barnes getting a yellow

Same from our viewpoint. Most likely a foul but not a penalty.martin_p wrote:Looked outside the box.

To add balance, thought that they should have had a penalty for a blatant handball 5 minutes before the Lennon shout.

I am visualizing that on Thursday we will be awarded a stoppage-time time penalty that Vokes, who will have come on as a sub with 15 mins to go, will take and slot in for yet another 2-1 win.
