Pope 9 some world class saves.
Lowton 8 steady as per
Tarkowski 8 (lost his focus at one point when ienacho got to him)
Long 8 excellent although had a similar lapse in concentration. Fancied he or Tarks to score though.
Ward 8 steady as per
Lennon 9 excellent signing. Amazing at both ends.
Westwood 9 dictated the pace. What a player
Cork 8 works well with Westwood
JBG 8 good game back
Barnes 8 worked his socks off but lost it at the last a few times
Wood 8 followed up very well. Always in the right places to score.
Dyche 10. The guys a genius. In this big pressure games he just does it.

Pope - commanding, special saves made to look easy 9
Lowton - towering presence at the and class going forward, some real quality touches and crosses -9
Tarks -.too many chances in the middle, perhaps trying too hard to play in front of Southgate -7
Long - some solid blocks and defense..but chances in the middle-8
Ward - very solid at the back and always an option pushing on- 8
Lennon- gives a tricky option and worked hard -7
westwood - first half..pushed on .super/second half did a sitting job effectively -7
Cork - controlled the first half/worked hard without dominating the second
JBG - real quality, running crossing an worked hard getting back- restricted Mahrez 8
Barnes - Opening 20 mins was genius.great vision and touch..after worked so hard as usual - 8
Wood - fought for everything..keeping us on the front foot in the first half...didn't get much opportunity in the second- 7

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Pope 9 if it wasn’t for his dodgy distribution I’d have gone 10
Lowton 9 close to mom for me
Ward 8
Tarks 7
Long 7
Westwood 8
Cork 8
Jbg 7
Lennon 7
Barnes 7
Wood 7
Leicester were a real handful especially second half and we became a bit panicky when clearing and in possession, but that’s perfectly understandable.

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Some of these ratings are a bit OTT. We were second best from 15 minutes onwards. We were over run in the midfield and i didn't feel like Wood or Barnes gave Morgan anything like enough of a test after his nightmare start. We won though, I don't know how, but we won. Brilliant effort to dig in and get the three points.
Pope 9 outstanding
Lowton 9 outstanding
Long 8 very good deputy for mee!
Tarky 8 good afternoon all round
Ward 6 thought he struggled all day and never looked comfortable
Cork 7 started absolutely brilliant but faded as their midfield took over
Westwood 7 same as Cork
Lennon 6 lots of huff and puff but no quality at the end of it
JBG 8 similar to Lennon but with end product. Thought his 30 yarder was in all the way. Shame it wasn't!!!
Barnes 6 worked hard but didn't impose himself on the game like he usually does
Wood 7 same as Barnes but an extra one for the goal
Pope 9 outstanding

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
God, that was hard work for all of us. Player ratings reflect that we weren't at our best for long periods, but we showed our character, rode our luck and got through.
Pope - 8 - Made a couple of great saves, particularly one in the first half, although the tension showed in his kicking second half which contributed to the problems we had in retaining possession.
Lowton - 8 - Best player on the park. Stood up to a real threat down that side from from Chilwell, and was an effective outlet going forwards too.
Ward - 7 - Solid and reliable against Mahrez, even if Mahrez did take advantage of a couple of moments when Ward switch off a touch.
Tarkowski - 7 - A bit casual a couple of times, but generally pretty good and came into his own as we developed a siege mentality in the second half.
Long - 8 - Caught out a couple of times when his speed of thought didn't match that of his opponents, but generally stood up really well to a tough test and it was a towering header for the goal.
Westwood - 5 - Bit surprised by the high marks so far for him; thought he was decent in the first half but struggled in the second period when Leicester overwhelmed us in there, and his pass completion rate was well below the standards he's set for himself.
Cork - 7 - Also struggled a touch at times in the second half, but got through heaps of work and his passing was more composed and accomplished than Westwood's.
Lennon - 6 - Showed his quality on occasions when he got the chance to isolate his full back, and picked a couple of lovely passes (notably when he, JBG and Lowton combined in a glorious move just after we'd gone 2 up), but inevitably his influence waned as the game went on and we got pushed back. Continued to get through a ton of work defensively, though.
JBG - 7 - Much as Lennon. although perhaps a bit more involved in the second half.
Barnes - 6 - Great ball to Wood for the opening game, and kept battling away, but he was in and out of the game.
Wood - 7 - Took his goal with the composure we've come to expect, and his massive role in making the second by chasing a lost cause can't be overlooked. But his departure was well overdue by the time he came off because we'd lost control of the midfield and we could find the channel balls that he thrives on and he's not the best at feeding on scraps, taking the ball in and holding it.
Hendrick - 6 - Should have been on 10 minutes earlier than he was because we needed to get a grip on midfield, and by the time he did come on the momentum of the game was set. But he did help bung up the midfield and once he was on, Leicester stopped breaking through the centre of the pitch with the same ease, even if he did make a mess of one promising position on the counter attack.
The first 10 minutes were sensational, the next 15 very good and hugely enjoyable...and the last hour something increasingly like a torture as we first got a bit complacent, then sat back a bit, and then ultimately lost control of the flow of the game. In the end, we were a bit lucky. But no-one will remember any of that if, as now seems likely, we qualify for Europe as a consequence of that result - we'll just remember one of the most prestigious days in our modern history. Leicester probably feel like they deserved at least a point - but just like last week, one of the reasons we are 7th and Leicester aren't is that we have that tough mentality and strong jaw to roll with the punches when we have to.
These are wonderful, wonderful times, and everything is rolling our way at the minute. I'm exhausted, and I feel like a played 90 minutes, but it is impossible not to be absolutely elated.

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Pope 8 Excellent but poor distribution
Lowton 8 Very solid
Tarks 7 Took too many risks and Maguire for Leciester was the better of the two today. Won't have helped his England chances
Long 7 decent but not Ben Mee
Ward 6 tough afternoon
Westwood 7 solid but players got between the lines too often we did struggle at times in Midfield
Cork 7 as above
Lennon 7 A couple of classy moments but gave the ball away a couple of times and Lowton needed more support at times
JBG 8 Excellent work rate and some great deliveries
Barnes 7 Excellent ball for the wood goal
Wood 6 did not offer enough for me today but got his goal
Hendrick 6
Vokes 6
Overall a bit lucky to win and did not keep the ball well enough in the second half but who really cares. What a result!

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Pope 9 his preform ance got us the 3 points IMO, at least 2 world class saves
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 7
Long 8 not his biggest fan but can't dismiss his contribution, best game in a claret shirt.
Ward 7
Lennon 7
Westwood 8 everywhere
Cork 8 as above
JBG 7
Barnes 8
Wood 7 got the all important goal
Can't believe how fast we flew out of the box, and just a mention for the fans, I genuinely thought we made a difference today. A barnstorming start and carried us to the end.

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
From a good stream, without sound -
Pope 9 - outstanding save from Mahrez header, great command of his area, very safe handling.
Lowton 8 - Love his enthusiasm and a great attacking threat too. Had his work cut out with Leicester doing a lot of attacking down his side.
Tarks 8 - Steady
Long 8 - Steady, solid, keeps it simple.
Ward 8 - I like Ward, gets up and down the flank, glad he was OK after a heavy late knock which seemed to put him off for a few minutes.
Lennon 7 - Had to do a lot of backtracking
Westwood 7 - Struggled to make an impact as Leicester seemed to win a lot of the 2nd balls, but stuck with the framework.
Cork 7 - As Westwood, Leicester seemed to have the bulk of possession and he stuck to his tasks well.
JGB 8 - Maybe just lost a touch of fitness sharpness with his recent injury, but our main attacking option and good to see him running at defenders and getting the ball across.
Barnes 8 - Put himself about, bristling with aggression, lovely touch to set up Wood's goal, good idea to sub him at that point after his card as he seemed very wound up.
Wood 7 - Another goal, little opportunity after that.
Flying start - seemed to go off the boil though, maybe that mental thing of whether to really go for the throat or keep it steady on that score. I thought Leicester looked very useful with Mahrez spraying it around. Had a period of simply banging the ball away anywhere upfield, but dug in when we needed to. 5 wins on the bounce, including 2 against the teams directly below us - can't argue with that.

My opinion pal. I've just checked Whoscored.com incidentally, and it has him making 31 passes today -fewer than usual (and less touches than Cork, which is unusual in itself), and only having a completion rate of 61% (Cork's was about 71%). Each to their own opinions wise, but (whilst I don't think stats are a substitute for the view you form at the game) those today are decidedly ordinary for the midfielder whose job it is to play get us playing football, and I'd argue they give some credibility to the score I gave.

Amazed anybody can give Westwood a ‘5’ - particularly based on stats rather than just watching the game. Westwood put in a real shift defensively and was extremely neat and tidy on the ball.

Pope 9*
Lowton 8
Tarkowski 7
Long 7
Ward 8 - defence had a tough day today but generally coped well
Lennon 6 - quiet
Westwood 6
Cork 8 - really dug in today
JBG 7 made a few good crosses that nobody went for
Barnes 6
Wood 6 - two up top didn't get too much service after 15 mins, and when they did, they were late
We dragged that on out. Excellent team performance and 110% effort all round, however I feel sitting back after getting 2 goals just invited them onto us, and fortunately we had just enough defence/saves and luck to see it out. Easy for me to say, but I would hoped we would go for a third while we had them on the ropes because inevitably sitting back against world class players, eventually they will score and today they should really have got at least 2

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Pope - 9 excellent
Lowton - 8 dealt with the Leicester left back who played like an extra winger, very well.
Long - 8 +1 for goal, solid.
Tark - 7 Solid
Ward - 7 solid as usual.
JBG - 7 some nice flashes, little involvement for large spells.
Cork - 8 scrapped for every ball, very good.
Westwood - 8 another excellent performance.
Lennon - 6 worked hard just lacked end product
Barnes - 5 some nice touches and battled well the ball just didn't stick enough
Wood - 6 same as Barnes but +1 for the goal

I disagree. We do it regularly when in front, and Leicester aren't normally a team that has so much possession.Jakubs Tash wrote:We didn’t sit back - Leicester pushed us back. As you say, they have some very good players....

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
Great start by us, and then we wobbled like mad until Hendrick came on and we then looked fairly comfortable. Thought one or two not up to the excellent standards they have set themselves but that is probably being a little churlish and its a result that puts us on the brink of European football. Remarkable. What a team and manager we have, and long may it continue.
Pope 8 - brilliant at everything but a bit wayward on the kicking, and that is the problem when it comes to being Englands No 1
Lowton 9* - outstanding, possibly the best game I've seen him have for us.
Long 8 - very solid and he will be chuffed to bits with his goal
Tarkowski 8 - wobbled a bit but very composed again
Ward 7 - did well against Mahrez i thought, but got overwhelmed when Leicester really turned it on
Lennon 6 - quiet by his standards, but worked hard
Westwood 6 - good at the start, but large parts of the game he really didn't have a chance to continue his excellent form
Cork 7 - hung in there, and continuing his excellent season
JBG 7 - shame we didn't get the ball to him more often as he had Simpson on toast
Wood 6 - good goal and work for the 2nd, but got more and more isolated
Barnes 6 - as above really
Subs
Hendrick 7 - did what he was bought on to to
Vokes 7 - as above
Leicester were unlucky today, but we deserved it for our defensive display when we clearly were not 100% on it. But we'd better start planning for that European Tour!

Confirmed today that people on here don't watch the game, Leicester were superb today, and apart from first ten minutes outplayed us, yet some markings on here giving our players, especially midfield and strikers 8,9 marks is laughable, only pope deserves marks that high.

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
The defenders put a few good blocks in but on the hole apart from Pope, I thought we were poor defensively today.. Leicester, especially Vardy had numerous chances.
Halcyon days for us Burnley fans though.
I thought when Robbie Blake scored the winner against united that was it, but no we just get better and better.
Great.,great days to be a claret. We don't have benefactors like, the likes of City, Chelsea and Rovers, we have miracle workers

Oh, my apologies. I thought that I had heard that he had been at the Southampton Chelsea game, but must have misunderstood.Buxtonclaret wrote:He was, yes.

He has - of course - been at a lot of Turf Moor games. (Lives at Harrogate so it'll be his nearest PL ground I think).

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
To repeat, it's based on my own eyes not the stats - it just so happens the stats support the view. He certainly put in a shift - all our players did, they always do - but I don't agree he was extremely best and tidy on the ball and you're certainly arguing against the statistical facts of the match there. 5 is below par - it's not poor (that is a 4).Jakubs Tash wrote: Amazed anybody can give Westwood a ‘5’ - particularly based on stats rather than just watching the game. But anyway, each to their own. I'm sure we can agree this is a great day to be a Burnley fan.

Really? are we not allowed an opinion? I thought Lowton defended incredibly well and deserves high marks. It wasn't from the first ten minutes either, We were as comfortable as you can get until the 2nd half. The job of a central midfielder like Cork isn't too get forward, defending is part of his job on the pitch, he mucked in well.Grumps wrote:Confirmed today that people on here don't watch the game, Leicester were superb today, and apart from first ten minutes outplayed us, yet some markings on here giving our players, especially midfield and strikers 8,9 marks is laughable, only pope deserves marks that high.

Is Lowton a midfielder or attacker?? . As you say Cork mucked in, but for me mucking in gets you a 7.....KRBFC wrote:Really? are we not allowed an opinion? Usual 10/10 for effort, determination and resilience to every player - it seems this is the entrance fee to play in an SD team. Flew out of the traps and held on valiantly. You would take Leicester's squad every day if it was purely down to footballing ability but, thankfully, it isn't. Another win keeps us looking upwards in the table. Let's overhaul Arsenal at theirs to complete the dream.

Re: Burnley v Leicester - Player Ratings
I watched the game and don't need any information off a tintanet stat site.claretspice wrote:My opinion pal.
After we scored our 2nd goal,Harry Maguire pushed forward at every opportunity, he was enabled to do this because our forwards failed to close him down.
This is why we was over run in midfield during the second half. Our forwards stopped pressing, leaving our midfield and full backs exposed.
