John Sheridan will be a tough act to follow ...Fleetwood were dropping like a stone towards the Relegation zone until Uwe Rosler was replaced...Sheridan turned things around...Good Luck Joey...Big chance for you in management !

Great opportunity for him, and also could send 4 of our Dev Squad prospects to play together at a reasonable level.

Pleased for him, really hope it works out. He has worked under Sean Dyche, so that should help.

Good luck Joey.
Funny , but the first thing that came to my mind was getting players out on loan. You never know.

Very interesting appointment, quite high profile even if he is new to management. I wish him well and hope that things work out for him.

Good luck to Joey, I wish him all the very best. He's had a great mentor in Sean, which can only benefit him if he takes a leaf out of his book.

Pre season Friendly?
His mate, John Bradley who hosted the evenings at Colne Muni, has tweeted his choice of assistant is interesting. Any guesses?

Haha. I was literally thinking about him this afternoon and if he'd come back to us next season or whenever his ban is up

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
I expect it’s a good way for him to continue playing as well. If he wants success as a manager it’s a good place to start and he has a mentor not many miles away.
Good appointment, let’s see how he does!

His move to burnley ie dyche could be the best career move of his life. Bet his cv is full of things he says he has learnt of dyche.

Penny for Sol Campbell’s thoughts?
I hope he gets off to a good start in his managerial career.

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
Thought he'd come back as a player at a higher level but a good opportunity in management and probably a better contract.

I wonder if he’s going down the Player-Manager route? Mayhap with an experienced Assistant to guide him through.
Good luck to him. He could be Sean Dyche’s replacement in a few years time.

Good luck to him and fair play for starting at a lower level with an unfancied club.
Be hard to win something there. Suspect top 10 and a cup run would be success?

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
They’ve a bit of brass behind them and a good set up from what I’ve read. If Joey does a good job, there’s no reason he couldn’t take them up a level.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Good luck to him and fair play for starting at a lower level with an unfancied club.

Good luck to him - if he turns out to be a great manager (he talks a good game) perhaps he could be on our radar in the future.

Sounds like he'll be saying his goodbyes to us at half time tomorrow too

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
I assume he won't last long there as they do enjoy chopping and changing their managers!
Anyway, I do wish him the best of luck. Will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on. I'm sure he's learned from the best

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
I wish Joseph all the best. I think he has it in him to become a good manager. He's worked with quite a few and I am certain as I can be that should he look for advice he'll contact his last manager.

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
I've always thought he would make a good manager. He's thoughtful, articulate and will have the respect of the players.
Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
I wonder if his management style will be similar to Seans. I remember on his podcast him saying that ours is a calm and relaxed dressing room compared to other clubs.

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
First time round as a player absolutely loved him but just cos he did well for us doesn't change my opinion of he being a gobshite. Don't care how he does either way but my opinion is he will fail, have a big chip on his shoulder, blame everyone but himself and go back to his natural home on talksport with idiots like Adrian DurhamJohnDearyMe wrote:Take it that you didn't develop a bit of a soft spot for him after his successful time with us...?

Re: Joey Barton - new Fleetwood manager
Assume he'll be doing the half time draw tomorrow. That should give at least a few of us an opportunity to say farewell in the appropriate manner to a good player who left his mark at our club.
