No.
He seems to dive in and sucked into making silly challenges.
He couod just be a touch green though, regular starts may help that, but it never fills me with confidence when he's starting, especially when Mee is out, as Tarky has to swap sides, and is also prone to the odd cock up.

Michael Keane is the best defender we have had recently
Class player when at Burnley. Wish we could get him back but alas....wages etc Dunne may step up in a year or so. Meantime perhaps we should offer ten bob for Mulgrew or make a quid and get Dack as well.

Why not? Clearly your just not a fan of him. Was the better of the defence on Thursday night. Made numerous interceptions and worked very hard against a 100 million strike force. For christ sake we are burnley. Come off yere high horses with players aren't good enough. Every player in our squad is good enough or else I'm sure they wouldn't be here. Start of the season Tarks couldn't do right and some on here couldn't see him as Keanes replacement, "now hes better than keane" by all accounts. Now Long is the soft target for a fella that hasn't put a foot wrong since he's been in the team (spurs apart) the chap is clearly still learning and doing a fine good job of it aswell. The premier league is an unforgiving league and everyone of our players are still learning especially long tarks etc. And learning against the best in world football so remember that the next time ye spout some drivel about players not been good enough. 7th in the league and players still being questioned by some. Dilussional some people are.

Tarkowski has been as good this season, if not better, than Keane last year.

This post shows exactly why we couldn't spend £10m on a reserve centre back. Wells was bought for the same reason you're complaining that we didn't buy one.

Can't be bothered to look up how many games he's now played, but I'd say time will tell.

We can't afford 10m quid has to be joke. I understand but disagree why we did not buy in jan given we had 31 points at christmas. I will never understand why we did not buy last august.

technically we could afford 10 million for a defender but since we paid 15 for Wood, 10 million for a 3/4th defender would be a waste of money.
i think long is fine. not a permanent solution but capable of filling in for a few games and his wages are not astronomical.

But we wouldn't need to spend £10m on a young defender who will start as 4th choice.we found Ben Mee (£500k) Tarks (£1.5m), why can't we do it again?

Thing is can anyone name me a team that does not 4 proper cb. Most have 5. It's a complete mystery. A brain fart from an otherwise brilliant set up.

i agree we dont need to spend that inflated number but it took tarks mee and long some time before they found their footing. we started long and tarks the last 3 games of last year and they were shaky. our 4th would need to step up immediately. a cagey veteran would fill the role.

Liverpool until they spent £75m on Van Dijk.
Man City until they spent £57m on La Porte

Eventually if we don’t spend cash on premier league players we will get caught out & end up back in the championship, lose the manager & best players, 10 to 20 mil sounds cheap to Cary the extra players that keeps us from that?
