i liked the sketches on the second series of the smell of reeves of mortimer, a bit of fry and laurie, glam metal detectives, the first series of big train, naked video and of course the two ronnies.

Yes most of it is timeless. Some of it old. But most not.

The Self Righteous Brothers have me in stitches every time. Getting wound up by imaginary scenarios involving minor celebrities. 'IF NOEL EDMONDS< SHOULD COME IN MY HOUSE EFFING AND JEFFING IN FRONT OF MY WIFE AND KIDS!!!!!!!'

Arthur Haynes was a very funny man. Not a lot will have heard of him.... But very popular in the sixties.

Harry Enfield was Loadsamoney which was funny and summed up Thatchers appeal to white van man. After that a few ok characters and sketches but he'd peaked early. Bish bash bosh loads of dosh.

Was it Thursday nights that it was on? I think I’d have been around Year 9 at school and used to look forward to it every week.

The Scousers and the two babies (was it Harry and Lulu) were brilliant.

He then did another show on Sky One that was disappointing to say the least.

Harry Enfield and Fast Show were both brilliant shows. 2 of the funniest ever on TV for me.
Alan Partridge has got to be my all time fave and The Day Today was also excellent.

Loads of great comedy series down the year - not a sketch show but Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of the greatest programmes ever and new series coming soon.

Arthur Haynes was a very funny man. Not a lot will have heard of him.... But very popular in the sixties.

Bloody hell, you must be as old as me tn. Remember him well and one of his 'sidekicks' was Nicholas Parsons, still going strong and hosting the classic 'Just a minute' on BBC radio. Also part of his act was an Irish fellow,Dermot Kelly? though I stand corrected on his surname. From a similar era I fondly remember 'The Rag Trade' and 'Never Mind The Quality,Feel The Width'. Dad's Army is still way up there in my Top10 and I still try to watch it every week on BBC2.

I remember Arthur Haynes well, he was from the same era as Harry Worth on BBC black and white tv. Later came Dick Emery, Dads Army etc, but my all time favourite from that time was Tony Hancock, both on radio and tv, comic genius. The Two Ronnies deserve a mention for sketch shows, whilst in more modern times The Fast Show was brilliant.

I didn't 'get' Fast Show when I was younger, loads of folk were into it at school and were quoting it left right and centre, it was like a clique, if you didn't watch it, you weren't in on the laughs and felt left out. I loved Harry and Chums, can't understand why I didn't take to it, maybe hearing 'oh, suits you sir, oh' for the hundredth time that morning turned me off, naff.
15 years later I ended up watching all seasons and episodes over a week with a load of folk in an Australian hostel and thought it was the funniest thing I'd ever seen. It was genius in every department.
I liked the newer Harry and Paul one, 'I saw you coming' 'the chocolateer', I'm sure Burnley got a mention during one of the builders sketches.

i remember the 'chomondley warner' football sketch where the player had the ball glued to his foot.

we laughed about it so much at school the next day a friend of mine got beaten up by a teacher (a hopeless alcoholic) because he thought we were laughing at him.

the funniest sketch i've ever seen was on naked video. a bloke gets a horrendous haircut but is too polite to complain. he gets out of the hairdressers and tries his hardest to mess up the hairstyle. just as he's dipping his head into a puddle the hairdresser (i think it was helen lederer) comes out with his forgotten coat.
