Telford Scandal.
The last post on here generated into the usual mud slinging and was deleted.
However it's been revealed that the head of Shropshire county council child services in the 90's was arrested and charged with 2 counts of indecent assault.
Graham Bould managed to avoid jail, but it would help to partly explain why little was done back then.
An Anglican vicar assaulted the same boy earlier and this vicar also sat on the West Mercia Police Board.
Rev Michael Keen no longer lives in the area it's believed.
Bould carried on serving the community in other ways and was pictured with the then Telford MP 3yrs ago.
Another Parish councillor took indecent images etc.
It's believed that the police and councils failed to investigate these men properly etc, something that's sadly a common theme in these scandals.
They're finally getting themselves into gear in Telford and they're going to hold an independent enquiry.
These 3 men could be the tip of the iceberg on the side of the authorities, never mind what is already known about the other end of the scandal.

Perhaps about people who are quick to whinge but don't have the balls to square up to people.bobinho wrote:What exactly is your angle here, Sidney?

No angle.bobinho wrote:What exactly is your angle here, Sidney?
Mass child abusers were indirectly helped by other child abusers in positions of power.
Which angle can there be from that?
It covers white and Asian people, both main religions, government and local services failures.
So I'm not being racist, I'm not targeting one religion over another and I'm laying the blame fairly right across the board from the top to the bottom of the chain.
I don't go with angles, just can't believe how disgraceful this is in Telford.

Re: Telford Scandal.
Maybe “angle” was a poor choice of word. Certainly not suggesting you are a racist.
What I mean is, are you suggesting that these people were part of (or even organising) the more widespread abuse by the Asian community, and nothing was done/investigated for fear of being incriminated themselves, or was it simply that they were unaware of the scale of it, or used their positions to deflect or affect the course of enquiry?
Police and councils haven’t followed up properly but I’d like to know why? Is it only Telford that has senior local officials involved in this way, or have other towns had this disgusting problem ‘managed’ by the very people who should’ve been preventing it?

Re: Telford Scandal.
Good questions!!
Honestly, we will never know BUT it's more than likely not the case.
All guess work, but they probably more scared of getting caught themselves and if an issue is highlighted stones are turned over leading to questions.
Why didn't authorities do their jobs correctly?
Same reasons they've always failed this particular area for decades, they simply weren't interested enough.

Re: Telford Scandal.
The answer to that is in your opening post Sid. They didn’t do their jobs correctly because they were in on the act too. All these organisations are old boys clubs, but for the the life of me I cannot understand why any human being would want want to do these acts to children.Sidney1st wrote:Good questions!!

I’m glad that I’m not in charge of investigations into these people because their head’s would be on pike’s outside Westminster.

As serious as this subject is I can't help but think first and foremost of our FA Cup defeat when I see the words "Telford Scandal".
