Am I the only one that thinks Lennon can’t be arsed?

I was really dissapointed with him today. Offered absolutely nothing for the 3rd game in a row. Constantly out of position and barely closed anyone down.

Wonder if his head has been turned.

Didn’t play well today but not being arsed is not something you can throw at any of our players.

Three poor performances in a row now imo, which is a shame as he'd done pretty well in his few games before that. Definitely APPEARS rather disinterested unfortunately.

Just one of a number of players struggling for form currently. I didn't see anything that made me think we was lazy or didn't care.

I think it is the first time I have said it about a player under Dyche.

But at half time a few of us today thought he looked like he couldn’t be bothered.

He needs the ball playing into space for him to run on to. Seemed to keep getting passed to with his back to goal and then just got forced back. Some sloppy passing though.

Blimey start at Pope and finish at Wood-none played at their best. Pope's kicking remains poor Tarks was poor, Woods and Barnes got nothing in the air. JBG had a good game but by his recent standards was poor.
So a poor performance but we got a point. Some woeful passing today and unenforced errors by the score

Mdd2, not a problem with a player having a bad game it happens.
However the lack of effort from Lennon was concerning.

People said he's playing like he's had all his attacking intent sucked out of him, and becoming a 2nd right back.

I wouldn't go that far, but his first job is to put a shift in and help out going backwards, possibly something he's not fully used to get.

He'll be like a different player come August.

I think he was poor, I don't know if he cant be arsed though. I just think he lacks confidence, always seems to turn back and take the easy option instead of running at his man.

Third game in a row he has been anonymous with the ball but I’ve no complaints about his work rate.
Can’t agree with Kaptin, he’s a ball carrying winger and if he gets the ball he should have the confidence to turn and go at the defender but his confidence to beat a man looks shot.

He worked but was ineffective today. Again. For someone wide who does not my go past anyone and makes poor passes...end Nov much tracking back, I would prefer Scott Arfield several times over.

If Aaron Lennon no longer has his searing pace and confidence, then we need to restore it pre season. If we can't, then there are younger better players for the role they have to perform at Burnley.

It's almost as if the likes of Lennon and Nkodou are scared to play their natural game. The way we play is so rigid and formulaic that there's no room for trying something different or taking a risk. They just seem desperate to track back and put a shift in, cos they know that's what Dyche wants.

Going back to Wallace/Trips the majority of our crosses come from the winger laying it back to the FB, who gets the cross in. JBG excempted.
I did love the good old days, when wingers went down the outside and pulled the ball back, swinging away from the keeper, for a CF to get on the end of.

Played narrow as per managers instructions just like Arfield did also think he might well be knackered wont have played so many consecutive games for a few seasons needs a pre season to get dyche fit.

I thought Lennon had a poor game today but i also thought he tried hard. I suspect having 2 out and out wingers is a stain on 2 in centre midfield and he found it hard to get involved. Robby Brady and Gudmundsson also had this problem when they first came. Dyche will have it sorted for next season.

The majority of the team were bloody awful today. No lack of effort from Lennon though he had a stinker.
He’s an out and out winger and needs space , he’s played so narrow he just doesn’t get the balls he needs to run at players

I like Lennon but he looked completely lost today, almost like a kid playing a man's game. Was far too central and was exposed for it. Needs to hug the touchline. But, that said, the whole team set up and display didn't help matters.

Oh and get the lad off the left hand side, if we're playing Lennon left because he's been shocking on the right instead of swapping him to accommodate JBG i'd rather we brought Lennon off the pitch all together.

Agree he’s been poor for the last three games, but harsh to say he couldn’t be arsed.

More likely the case that, like many wingers, he’s a bit in and out. Most Evertonians will tell you that’s the way he’s always been.

We seemed to play without any shape direct approach or objective today after the first quarter when chances were missed one from Barnes and the goalmouth scramble.though maybe the opposition set there stall out accordingly.

If Sean keeps playing Lennon on the left he will continue to get performances like that from him. Lennon has always been a right winger - with no left foot.

He has started the last three games on the right hand side - and offered very little to the team. He comes inside far too much, he seems afraid to try and take on anyone down the wing and I think he has only been moved over to try and get some input into the match (which has failed)

JBG, on the other hand has looked real quality in all those games when playing on either flank

Depression is an awful illness maybe the thought of not training or playing is waying on his mind come the close season.We have family who suffer and inactivity with no work to is the worse thing for their mental state.

I agree his work rate has dropped, or that’s the impression I got from the stands.
SD will have the stats, it will show if his work rate has dropped.
Maybe it’s an end of season thing.

Certainly didn’t play well again today. However as others have said not many did and today we were up against a compact unit giving him and others very little space. In my opinion the 4-4-2 shape we play hampers him, as it requires our wide men to come narrow to help the central two and that’s not his game. Boyd and arfield often got slated for it too, but through Dyche’s 5 years its been a clear tactic he’s employed, so nobody should be surprised. It may take a preseason for him to get going, it may take us reverting back to 4-5-1 or it maybe this is what we get from him. However I certainly wouldn’t say he didn’t try, his tracking back is generally excellent when on the right hand side.

Time to judge Lennon is arguably next season but, to date, he looks a poor, poor signing. Surely there were better, younger options out there ? Said at the time that his career is obviously moving only one way.

B righton did a pretty good job on us today, pressing and harrassing us as much as they possibly could giving us, at times, few decent options. They also passed far more quickly and efficiently than us.
As a result, our ball retention was abysmal and the whole of our game seemed a bit flat.
Lack of effort - that's a stupid suggestion.

Lennon definitely isn’t a poor signing, just not at it the last few games. Our lack of football against Brighton didn’t exactly help. It was evident to see that we should have started Hendrick over Wood today. We would have controlled the game much better. Wood offered very little unfortunately. Westwood has filled in brilliantly since Defours injury but you can see how much we miss SD in games like Brighton yesterday.

Another astute signing for the midfield in the summer to aid this would be brilliant. If Lennon played a blinder every week he wouldn’t be playing for us would he, he’d still be at Tottenham or Everton.

Bl00dy hell, what is it with targeting a single Burnley player? I got the feeling at Stoke and yesterday that Lennon has replaced Hendrick as the target. Why can't we just back our players? Saying Lennon is lazy is just silly.

We were poor today and Lennon was clearly told not to take risks going forward, which limits his game.

I thought we played for a 0-0 yesterday when we knew Leicester were going to be beaten, as did BHA, which made for a turgid game. A “Premier League 0-0” which invariably means both sides huff and puff, and would take a goal if they could, but deliberately keep things solid at the back and in midfield so as not to concede.

Not quite his game today. Brighton defended well and are experts at the niggly on and off the ball foul. Arsenal away will be more his game.

I just thought it wasn’t his best game, it wasn’t for lack of effort, he very rarely got one on one with his marker but I can remember one particular time in the second half when he did and he chose to stop and go backwards rather than run at him. When he played against us for Spurs in our first year in the Prem he terrorised our left back that day with his speed.

The requirements were not to take risks and keep possession, did that on many occasions where some supporters were wanting a player to take on his man. An ugly point yes, but we had the game under our control. A typical end of season game where we just needed to get over the line.
And as for Popes kicking, marked improvement and something he is clearly working hard to improve since he came back from England duty. Well done Popey.
I suspect that the last hurrah will be at the Emerates, I've little expectation from the lads in the final game of the season at home to Bournemouth.
Point won, objective achieved. Finish 7th and qualify for the Europa league, Well done SD, his team and all the lads for a wonderful season.

The team looked tired yesterday. A full pre-season mat help Lennon. Tarks looks like he's carrying an injury and not happy on the left. Two big centre halves and we tend to struggle. Wood rarely wins a header with his back to goal. Vokes does but there's nobody there for his flick on.

We really need another top midfield player.

I agree, he's capable at beating any full back in the league when he has confidence. His delivery has always been his weak point but that will come with time. Our strikers aren't used to whipped crosses or cut backs compared to early high crosses.
