Wireless Speaker recommendations
Hi all,
Lady jdrobbo I would like to buy a wireless speaker for the kitchen. The obvious choice seems to be the Sonos range.
The room opens up in both directions into the living room and conservatory. We’re not that fussed about multi-room functionality; more, just want to ensure excellent sound quality when playing music from our respective devices.
Budget isn’t a huge issue, but would appreciate any recommendations, approximate costs and what you got for your buck.
Thank you!

I have this Bose model and it's a brilliant sound. Small enough to take on holiday too.

I have Bose headphones and agree, they’re great.
Any idea on the Sonos/ Bose models?
Why do you like them so much?

Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
We bought the UE Boom (£100) as we go camping and use outdoors a lot. It has 360 degree sound, holds better charge, is a bit more robust and also waterproof (kind of). The Bose had better sound quality but other factors were more important for where/how we use it. It’s a decent bit of kit for the money and a larger model is available for slightly more.

I have a Bowers and Wilkins A7 great bit of kit. Was about £500 when I bought mine but I’ve seen them change hands on ebay for about £200 second hand

Bose Soundtouch 10 does the job in our living/dining room. Connect via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or aux so I can hook up the turntable too.

Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
In my opinion having purchased both Bose and Sonos speakers I suggest Sonos is the way forward.
I purchased a Bose unit direct from Bose, had it three weeks, sent it back and got a full refund without any quibble. I made the mistake in buying product based on past experience (Bose Docking station / speaker) without researching it. Once I returned the speaker I did loo on forums and found quite a few people all experienced the same issue as me, the Bose speaker would suffer from interference from other devices.
The Sonos system differs to most other wireless systems because you create a second wireless loop within your home ( I think you may need to buy the additional bridge unit though), therefore no interference from any other devise.
We have a play 3 in the Kitchen and two play ones in lounge / bedroom. All linked and can be operated as a group or individually through the app on mobile phone / computer.

Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
+1 for Bose sound.
I've got a SoundDock (ipod docking model from about 2012) which won't be what you're after but in terms of Bose sound quality, the bass is great and will go extremely loud without distortion.
I'm just using a bluetooth adapter on it now and streaming from my google music account and youtube. Never had any interference on it

Another vote for Sonos. Went from high end separates to Sonos and haven’t looked back. Fantastic sound and functionality. Recently moved my 5 to another room and set two 1’s up for stereo. If you’re really flush get a sub - Brilliant sound and what an ornament! Even a 1 on its own is good quality sound.

Thanks everyone!
Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
I found the bass on the Bose a bit boomy.
For sub £200 there is still little better than a Minirig.

Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
I wanted a wireless speaker and found a comparison video for about six different makes - having considered what each one could achieve I went with a Sony SRS -XB20 Extra Bass Water-Resistant Bluetooth NFC Portable Speaker with LED Ring Lighting, Black from John Lewis. £59.99 I would certainly recommend the sound with the extra bass and the volume - if you needed it was very impressive with no distortion. You can of course pay more than x2 for Bose if you wish.

If budget isn't an issue, look no further than Bang and Olufsen Beolab 90...

In all seriousness, I have a Naim and it's the best sound I have ever heard from a speaker.

Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
My Wireless set already has a built in Speaker ..... but I'm not one to boast !!
Re: Wireless Speaker recommendations
By many reports, the HomePod is a far better speaker than Sonos and likely plenty others in a similar price bracket.
