What a victory
Tranmere promoted back to the Football League at Wembley. Incredible game. Sending off after 48 seconds for Tranmere and all their subs used before half time. Must rate as one of the greatest ever victories at Wembley. Cracking game. Well done, Tranmere.

Re: What a victory
Has anyone see the red card - was it justified? Very early to have a player sent off.
Re: What a victory
Nice for Josh Ginelly to lift a trophy, even though he was subbed on 32 minutes.

I seen before on twitter that he was struck on the head with a beer bottle that had been thrown by the crowd

Re: What a victory
Watched the whole game and it was fully justified. Lost control of the ball and stupidly went full length, foot up to try and win it back. A few weeks back the fat lad at Lincoln flattened the Shrewsbury keeper at Wembley with his forearm but the referee 'bottled it' and let him stay on the pitch. This referee had the courage of his convictions, despite the time and occasion to send the full back off.ClaretTony wrote:Has anyone see the red card - was it justified? Re: What a victory
I don't remember that many players being sent off in the first minute. Jimmy Smith for Newcastle against Birmingham in 1972, I think, for a horrendous over the ball 'tackle' springs to mind.

Didn't Leyton Orient have a player sent off in the first minute at our place for a foul on Ashley Hoskin? Was it Sitton?

Re: What a victory
Didn't see the match just read the stats. Great win for Tranmere one of our fiercest rivals back in the 80/90s.
Remember drinking in Birkenhead one new years day and coming under attack from chairs and bottles, how we got out unscathed is a miracle.
Good to see Tranmere back in the football league were they belong

Uruguay v Scotland 1986 ..... 39 Seconds ...Jose Batista on StrachanQuicknick wrote:I don't remember that many players being sent off in the first minute. Jimmy Smith for Newcastle against Birmingham in 1972, I think, for a horrendous over the ball 'tackle' springs to mind.

At half time the Uruguyan subs pelted the Referee and linesmen with water balloons, and the post match press conference ended up in a brawl between Scottish and Uruguyan Journalists... apart from Racing Club ( 1967 Intercontinental Cup v Celtic ) and Athletico Madrid ( 1974 V Celtic European Cup at Parkhead ), Uruguay 1986 were the dirtiest team I've ever seen ....

It was, broke his leg too. More often than not a player will get away with it so early in the game.Silkyskills1 wrote:Didn't Leyton Orient have a player sent off in the first minute at our place for a foul on Ashley Hoskin? Was it Sitton?

In over 100 grounds, Tranmere is still the roughest I’ve ever visited.

First place I ever went to where you couldn't pick up your own beer in the off licence. Everything was hidden behind a plastic screen and you had to point to what you wanted and the shop worker passed it to you through a small hole in the perspex. A sure sign of a sh*t hole!Bop wrote:In over 100 grounds, Tranmere is still the roughest I’ve ever visited.
