Sam Vokes

Post by CoolClaret » Sun May 13, 2018 5:36 pm

Sam Vokes is someone every footballer, heck anyone should look up to.

There's a girl who appears to have learning difficulties, on the front row of Bob Lord stand, fairly close to where I sit.

He makes sure to greet her every game when he's on the bench and I've noticed his similar attitude at away games- really is good to see.

Anyway, at the end of the game today, whilst the team were doing their lap of honour, he once again came over to her, gave her his boots and other memorabilia etc and a hug and some kind words -what a top, top bloke and personifies everything that's good about this team.
Unbelievably proud.

Brought a tear to my eye.

Tindall and Howe made a beeline towards her before the game with Tindall running over after to give her a hug.

I know the family of the young lady and both Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall have been brilliant with her over the time they were here and since they left us.

Probably based on the fact somebody as good as he is should be playing way more football than he has this season.....shows how good Barnes in particular has played to keep him on the sideline.

I'd love him to still be here come August but my gut is he will be a fantastic signing for somebody in the Championship next season - just hope its not Leeds as whispered around on Twitter

There’s plenty of good footballers in the Premier League that don’t play much, but it’s where players want to be. Besides next season will be more about the squad with Europe League games coming thick and fast (hopefully!)

A bit part player for a PL team with a handful of European fixtures isn't too bad. Better than dropping to the championship surely.

Fantastic as he has been for us I’d be hoping we sign a player better than Barnes and Wood, which would push him back to number4 choice. Could he live with that?

Why would vokes want to stay and play the odd 15 minutes here and there when he has his international career to think about also he will want to play as many minutes as possible at club level

Having watched yesterday I think we need an upgrade but has been a great player for us and no doubt reasonably grounded for a footballer.

I don't think he did that bad at all yesterday.

He always holds the ball up better than Wood, and he almost scored in the last minute from that through ball by Hendrick.

We'd certainly miss him if he decided to leave.

We've got to be wary of losing Vokes, Barnes, Arfield, Marney and Mee too quickly - look at stoke this season when the club thought they'd outgrown Bardsley, Walters and Whealan.

It's nice to think we'd be getting upgrades, but £15-20m each on a couple of wrong uns and we're sliding down the relegation razor blade.

This board is simply hilarious.....One week its we need more strength in depth, it's a squad game, then the week after it's he's too good to sit on the bench, he'll want first team football......how can we build a stronger squad if players can't accept sometimes they'll have to wait for a first team place. This is exactly what will happen with Pope & Heaton, one will train harder and push for the spot, not just leave!!!

He'll end up wherever he can sign the biggest contract. Very simple.
