Was like a pre season friendly and re confirmed to me why I don't normally attend end of season dead rubbers. Predicted 1-2 before the game as we looked so flat last week.

Really poor display, the more deserving side won, I know it was a mistake but we offered zero, and pope was the busier of the 2 keepers... in my opinion

Some surprisingly low scores for a game that I thought was generally pretty enjoyable and enterprising, even if the final 15 minutes or so slightly soured it.

Pope - 8 - Two absolutely terrific saves, otherwise pretty solid.

Lowton - 6 - Generally neat, tidy and effective, but gave the ball away badly for their equaliser when there were better options than playing out from the back.

Ward - 7 - Very steady after a slightly shaky first 5-10 minutes.

Long - 6 - Very unlucky to slip when he did for the winner and I'm not sure anyone should be marking him down for a freak slip that could have happened to anyone - these things happen to the best. Otherwise, he was as reliable as we've come to expect defensively, but leaving aside the goal, his discomfort in possession is being sussed out by teams and they're targeting him. A different back up option at centre half is definitely on the summer shopping list - and that's even if Mee doesn't leave.

Tarkowski - 7 - Solid enough.

Cork - 7 - Thought he was tidy in midfield, and got forward to good effect, certainly in the first half.

Westwood - 7 - Thought he kept the ball moving efficiently and tidily, as we've come to expect, although not for the first time the absence of a more dynamic passer in the centre of midfield was felt at times.

Hendrick - 9 - Absolutely superb in the first half, and continued to be a threat in the second half even as Bournemouth began to turn the screw.

Lennon - 7 - Thought he was direct, bright and effective for the most part, although he still looks like a sprinter who has spent a bit of time doing middle distance running recently and hasn't quite got his explosive rhythm back yet.

JBG - 7 - Provided a threat on the left, although like Lennon, he couldn't quite capitalise on some promising looking situation.

Wood - 6 - Goal owed more to luck than judgment, and he was saved from an absolute howler by what must have been a marginal offside call. His link up game still lacks something compared to both Vokes and Barnes and it left us lacking a focal point at times, but he's always a threat.

Vokes - 6 - Not really able to get into the game.

Wells/Macneill - not on long enough.

For the last 35 minutes or so of the first half, and the first 15 minutes of the second half, I thought we played some of the best stuff we've played all season - some excellent rotation in the midfield 3, with Hendrick the dominant and classy force in midfield, and the wingers and other midfielders breaking beyond Hendrick to give him the forward passing options that all our midfielders (but particularly Hendrick when he's played that number 10 role) have lacked at times. It made us look a really potent threat, but the legitimate complaint would be that through a combination of a lack of men getting into the box, a bit of hesitancy at times and a lack of quality in the final ball at times, we didn't quite carve out the clear chances our approach play deserved. Whilst Bournemouth started the brighter and finished the brighter, they were outplayed in the middle period - yet still managed to carve out four or five really good chances on goal to perhaps two that we managed. There's a lesson in that for us and that's clearly an area where we can hope a pre-season will give us a bit more potency - and of course the return of Defour and Brady will help.

Sure, the game lacked real tempo at times, but it was enterprising and pretty enjoyable. Fantastic to see the ovation for the players at the end, and for Scotty and Marney when they led the team out for the lap of honour. Hopefully everyone who followed them out will still be with us next season, and we can build on what has been a fabulous season. This wasn't quite the fitting finale it promised to be for 75 minutes, but it can't take the gloss off entirely.

He is genuinely an awful number 10.

Chooses the wrong option nearly every time.

I get that you love him to bits, but if he snapped his leg tomorrow i really wouldn't care. Sounds harsh, but he's an awful footballer.

It was Hendrick's excellent ball to JBG that led to our goal.

Hendrick certainly one of our best players today if not the best. I haven't always been positive about him but credit where it's due.

Yep was the better of the players last week. This week as the home side anonymous.
I'd rather he didn't start for us in a 4411 role.

I give him credit when he contributes, the amount of times he didn't complete a 15 yard pass, or offered a powder puff shot/tackle amazes me.

7th in the premier league and some are way to easily pleased. I want to see football and footballers not work horses.
Jeff should be 4th choice at very best

Hendrick got my MoM ( but only a 7). I could see what dyche has been trying to get him to do. Much better these last couple of games than around Xmas when he seemed lost. He had good awareness today reasonably quick feet and good pass selection.

Same could be said of you. Or you don't understand the game enough to see that Hendrick had a decent game today. Or you just have an agenda against him.

He holds on to the ball for far too long. He doesn’t make decisions quick enough whilst playing in that role. Was even worse when he went out wide.

Clearly not as you've demonstrated here.
MACCA wrote:What did he offer?

As someone's pointed out to you, it was him who set up our goal with a lovely reverse pass. I could point out plenty of other examples of him producing really good, forward prompting passes. One would have resulted in an open goal for Wood had Lennon not strayed marginally offside. He was also the only other player in a Burnley shirt to work Begovic with a tidy left footed drive in the second half. He's had some indifferent games in that role, but today wasn't one of them. Most of the marks for him today are 7s and 8s. I'm higher, but then I'm higher for most players today as it happens.

Anyway, such is life. No point in continuing the debate really. But I'll leave you with these nuggets:

Not a Hendrick fanboy (at all) but he was really good today, much improved.

He sometimes was guilty of retaining the ball too long or taking an extra touch he didn’t need to, but his passing was great and he looked a real threat. I would actually go as far as to say it is the best he has played all season - in my opinion.

Lowton 8 - was excellent going forward today
Long 5 - shame about the blip because he's done quite well as a stand-in

Ward 6
Lennon 7 - better from him today
Westwood 7
Cork 7
Gudmundsson 8 - all over the pitch
Hendrick 8* - MOM

Overall a game we shouldn't have lost, but have no concerns that Sean has seen the good parts and bad parts of today's game and will work on it next season

Should never have lost that, but two terrible defensive mistakes mean that we do. But lets not go overboard here, its a complete one off from our defensive team and a bit more composure we'd have comfortably ahead.

Pope 7
Lowton 7
Long 6 - loses a point for the slip
Tarkowski 7 - much better today that he has been recently
Ward 7 - as above
Lennon 7 - as above
Westwood 7
Cork 6 - loses a point for first goal
JBG 8
Hendrick 8 - excellent today
Wood 6

Vokes 6
Wells 6

Been an amazing season. Lets not forget that and lets look forward to a European tour!

Pope 7 - did well - made a terrific save that our clusmy defence made irrelevant
Lowton 8 - continues to be our best defender
Long 4 - cost us the game dithering
Tarks 4 - all at sea
Ward 6 - started slowly but grew into the game
Lennon7 - effective and used the ball well
Cork 7 - busy and all over tje place
Westwood 8 - some terrific passing
Hendrick 8 mom - caused them no end of problems
Wood 7 - worked hard, pressed, ran in behind and kept them on edge and of course scored again

Vokes 4 - made zero impact at all

Pope 8 (excellent reflex stops and sound catching. Kicking still below average unfortunately)
Lowton 6 (was he the one who should have booted the ball into orbit instead of trying to get a move to Barcelona!? Goon!)
Long 6 (had a good game imo and was somewhat unfortunate to slip moments from the end! Also a goon!)
Tarks 7
Ward 6
Westwood 8 (MOM)
Cork 7
JBG 6
Lennon 6
Hendrick 7
Wood 5

Vokes 6
Wells 7

I know we've had a great season overall and all the players have put a real shift in, but we have to call each game as we see it and nothing that has gone before makes today any more palatable. We weren't even mediocre and that applies to last week and the week before too! Although today we sparked into life with the occasional good move (like when we scored) we were extremely pedestrian for long periods against a team who were no mugs, but also no great shakes. The most surprising thing about today was that Eddie Howe has got a well drilled and well marshaled defence and that's something I thought I'd never see. I didn't think we deserved to lose the game in the end, but somehow felt it was coming. A few weeks ago everything in the garden was very rosy, but now our summer ins and outs will be absolutely crucial if we are to stay on the right side of that very fine line next season.

"if he snapped his leg tomorrow, I really wouldn't care". "7th in the premier league and some are way to easily pleased".

Like I said, some people.
I will criticise players when it's fit to do so but to wish injury to one of our mainstays is pathetic.

A quick reminder Jeff's match-winners at home to Newcastle and away to Everton potentially are the difference between European football or not.

Where do people expect us to finish 7th and still peeps are whining give me strength.

A 9 for Hendrick maybe a bit generous yes but it is nowhere near a ridiculous score as a 5.

You only have to look at everyones ratings to see which one of these is the stupid score.

What is worse a fan with slightly claret tinted glasses or a so called fan who has it in for an individual player however well he plays ?

We've had it before with other players like David Jones where a minority of fans just don`t appreciate what they bring to the team. We will have it again with players in the future.

I`m not a great fan of Hendrick in that position but he has been our best player for the last 2 games. That does not mean that's he right role for him but it does mean (for me) that he is a good player.

Scoring Vokes a 6 and Hendrick a 5 says it all really - did Sam touch the ball when he came on ?

As we know some folk score players before the game and that won't change, but I think that MACCA has been on the wind up for a good few weeks now.

There are some players that have been hanging desparately onto their form a bit, and to be fair to them, they have managed to get us over the line with what in essence is an identical achievement to Arsenal (Europa League qualification). We did Ok today, but not great.

Long is the primary example of this. Despite good moments he appears way, way short of what is required at this level (top half PL) and today encapsulated it. Take away the adrenaline, and the need to win, and he didn’t have enough natural class to get him through the game. Some crazy comments above suggesting it could have happened to anyone, but immaculate technique and balance leads to somebody never falling, and his is far from that. He has done OK of course, but he has to be judged as a Europa League standard player now, and we have to aspire for better if we are to do well next season.

The rest of them I am reasonably happy with but we lack that incisive passer, Hendrick tries but it isn’t his strength. If we had a chance due to Europe of signing Yaya Toure I’d carry him to Burnley myself. That, a classy quick striker and a solid central defensive backup are the big requirements. A great season though.

Pope - 7 two smart saves and bosses his area

Lowton - 6 not sure what he was doing for their first but that aside he was sound and put a couple of lovely balls in

Long - 6 had a good game until he slipped; played a beauty of a crossfield ball a ward in the second half

Tarkowski - 6 no problem with him bringing the ball out and looking for a pass but it's way less effective when he's on the left

Ward - 7 pick of the defence and involved in a good move for our goal

Cork - 7 standard

Westwood - 7 standard

Lennon - 6 better than of late, think he'll really benefit from pre-season with us

Gudmundsson - 7 better than Lennon

Hendrick - 8 our best player on the day, he carried the ball well and picked the right passes, including a beauty for the goal. Suffers from a lack of options in front of him when we've got one up front.

Wood - 5 pretty poor overall but got another (somewhat fortuitous) goal. Always a lurking threat but he doesnt give us the link up play that our other two main forwards do.

Vokes - 5 not a huge impact

Decent game this considering both teams had their flip flops on, with some good football from both sides, either of whom could have won it. In the end we've lost because of a slip and it was a shame for Long as he's played well.

Hard to give any kind of a toss about a dead rubber like this so fait play to both teams for making a bit of a do of it.

It still seems ridiculous what this team has achieved again; it just gets better year on year. It's been a privilege to have watched it all unfold.

Hope you all enjoy the summer. Massive scenes commence in July.
