Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Oh no.....they're queuing up to sign Dyche. Tomorrow in the Daily Mail and Sky Sports:
Sources have claimed that Sean Dyche will be taking over the management of Stoke City, Swansea City, Everton and WBA. Mr Dyche has stated that given his experience at Burnley he thinks he can handle all four jobs but has also stated that the approach from Arsenal has also got to be taken into account and he might have to drop Swansea. He has said that the management will be easy but the commuting might be a bit of a drag.

West Ham fans a calling for the sacking of Sean Dyche due to his style of football - unfortunately nobody has told them he isn't their manager yet.

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Latest from Sky Sports:
The PL has announced that due to the manager merry-go-round getting a bit out of hand they will now only have teams in the division that are managed by Sean Dyche. Arsenal have complained saying that it interferes with their plans to hire a top European manager but the PL chiefs are having none of it. As from Monday it will be a criteria of PL membership that a club must have Sean Dyche in place as manager no later than the end of the week.
Mr Dyche has said that this will be a work in progress but critics say if Burnley win the championship things may have to be looked at.

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Interesting that all three relegated clubs have got rid of the managers who were appointed mid-season in the hope that they would stave off relegation.
In addition, Everton, West ham, Leicester, Watford and Southampton all had changes of manager during the season.
With the probablity of Conte leaving Chelsea there will only be 9 PL teams with the same manager who started last season's campaign.
It is the PL gone mad

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
The really weird thing is that in all probability all the sacked managers will have jobs soon, managing the clubs that the other managers just got sacked from.
Question that has always baffled me:
Why do clubs hire managers that have a history of being sacked then come out with a statement like 'we have looked at all the candidates and (any name you like) came top of the list. He is perfect for the job and we think he brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the club'.
Considering his history is one of getting clubs relegated but still insisting on his multi-million pound pay-off I find this somewhat odd.

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
I'm all for the multiple managerial changes and trigger happy Premier League chairmen as it surely means Sir Sean Dyche will remain as Burnley manager for the foreseeable.
Why would he risk moving to one of these so-called 'Bigger clubs' where four defeats in a row more often than not spells the end of your tenure?

once of a day alan curbishley would have been linked with all these vacancies.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Clubs still keep in appointing the same names on long contracts. ' well it must work here' no it won't
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Stoke should never have sacked Hughes. Huddersfield have come out of the whole managerial merry-go-round best of all, it's probably kept them up!

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
I half expect Cardiff to sack Warnock following their promotion to bring in a Galactico type manager for the Premier, and Warnock to take over at Stoke, which I think would make a decent matchup for them.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Don't like Lambert after what he did regarding the Managers position with us. You reap what you sow.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
I think we had a lucky escape all those years ago when he used us to get a better deal at Norwich. File under Owen Coyle.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
All of these changes must be good news for us. I know we won’t be playing Stoke next season but they are clubs of similar standing to us. Mayhem and chaos will follow at least at some of those clubs. 1 or 2 might work out but in general the more you change the more sets of players you end up with at the club and the harder to get unity. Dyche would be mad to leave us for any of the teams below us and he won’t get offered the ones above us.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
I hope Mowbray leaves Rovers and normal service can be resumed.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
If they'd brought Lambert in earlier it would only have meant relegation sooner!tim_noone wrote:But the chairman of stoke said they should have done it earlier ?
Stoke wanted to move away from the Tony Pulis style of football and did remarkably well under Hughes for a couple of seasons. Successive top half finishes in a league where 7 of the top half are decided before a ball is kicked is impressive. The fact that they were struggling was purely down to not having a striker / suitable replacement for Arnautovic. Hughes went in the first week of the transfer window. If he'd had the window to bring in a striker I think they would have been more than fine. The fact remains that the first time things got a little bit hairy under Hughes the Chairman sacked him. A pointless act if you only have a manager like Lambert lined up!

Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
Stoke have approached Derby for permission to speak to Gary Rowett. It seems Rowett is keen because of the cost cutting going on at Derby.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
3 straight 9th place finishes I think they had. They were good for a while with Shaqiri, Bojan and Arnautovic. He’s a decent manager is Hughes.jlup1980 wrote:If they'd brought Lambert in earlier it would only have meant relegation sooner!

Stoke are a good bet for a swift return to the top table if Rowett takes over

Derby have confirmed that Rowett has asked to speak to Stoke and the two clubs are now talking.
Re: And Lambert leaves Stoke
I think they’ve exceeded FFP by quite some way so don’t have a choice.
