Best opposition player at the Turf this season
Re: Best opposition player at the Turf this season
Yeh you're right he's sh-it...cos the statistics say so.
Hazard has mostly played as a winger and he is playing in a much better league than Icardi and Dybala....and arguably than Lewandowski.
It`s not just his goals that are important - or even his assists. Chelsea under Conte play fairly negative football. When Hazard picks the ball up he is often deep in his own half and surrounded by players...how many times does he lose the ball ? He is starting most of the Chelsea moves and he is the player who gets the team up the field. His strength, touch and dribbling is the best in the league.
Hazard was the best player in the FA Cup final by a mile. He would get in any club side in the world. We`ll see if Real Madrid go for Hazard or whether they go for Lewandowski, Dybala or Icardi shall we.
Salah has had a better season than Hazard no doubt. But lets see if he can do it for as long as Hazard has before we say whether he is a better player.
Only you would bring up Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes in a debate about Hazard !!

It's still Ashley Williams.
The way he left Chris Wood alone to score was outstanding.

Kane. One of the best strikers performances I’ve seen at the Turf.

For a ninety minute display, Kanté. A maestro at work.

Morata’s movement was superb he really had us on the back foot, missed that one on one though which probably makes people see him as having not performed - he really impressed me though.

When did I say Hazard was sh-it? he's quite clearly not, you're just exaggerating for the sake of it.TVC15 wrote:Yeh you're right he's sh-it...cos the statistics say so.

Hazard has actually played the majority of this season centrally. If Hazard was that good Madrid/Barca would've had him sooner, like they snapped up Neymar/Bale/Ronaldo/James etc, those kind of sides don't wait around.
You say ''do it as long as Hazard has done'' but what exactly has he done? 2 years ago he scored 4 league goals, this year he has 12. Hazard has 8 Champions League goals in his entire career, for a bit of perspective, Ronaldo has 14 CL goals this season alone. Kane, Mane, Firmino and Salah all have 7 this year.
The Wood/Barnes comparison was simply a fairer comparison in terms of output from a player who is supposedly ''one of the best in Europe''. It's a weird one with Hazard, he looks a world beater he just goes missing and doesn't produce end product like the very best.

i Have no idea, hazard might well have benefited from a good cup final and therefore be fresh in the memory, I don't find myself talking about him as a stand out player of the season.

He scored 4 goals in the season the Chelsea players decided to get Mourinho sacked. He gave up that year - like the rest of the team.KRBFC wrote:When did I say Hazard was sh-it? he's quite clearly not, you're just exaggerating for the sake of it.

The season before he won the PFA player of the year and scored a similar amount to the last couple of years.
He has been picked in the PFA team of the years most years since 2013 - that’s pretty much as good as anyone else in this league over such a long period.
Chelsea have been generally poor this year -the players have known Conte has been leaving for a good while and they were poor in CL.
What exactly have the likes of Kane, Mane and Salah won in their careers ? I think they are all brilliant players btw but Hazard has won a lot more than any of them.
As said Hazard would get in any team in the world and if he does decide he wants to move this summer he will end up at Madrid or Barca.

that' a great shout to solve our CB problem !ClaretFelix wrote:Maybe a bizarre choice, and his team were woeful all season, but I thought Kurt Zouma was class when we played Stoke. Great in the air, strong in the tackle and absolutely rapid. It took him going off injured for us to make any decent chance and ulitmatley pinch the 3 points

I thought Chelsea were the best team we played.
We didn't have a sniff on any part of the turf.
Hazard was good along with Moses & Giroud, but I'm going for Kante.

I said after that game versus Chelsea that Hazard just lost the ball a lot. Yes, a lot of fancy footwork but there wasn't much end product on show (well, not against us thankfully!). He came across as quite a selfish player. Undoubtedly talented but somewhat selfish.

Re: Best opposition player at the Turf this season
kante showed why he's probably the best in the world in his position. masterclass.
hazard wasn't great at all. brilliant how he kept hold of the ball but the extent to which he did so was a negative. too often he held on to it for too long and went down blind alleys. great to watch such a skilful player but against a pretty knackered side he didn't create much.
the whole chelsea team was excellent that night, giroud and cahill especially.
2nd and 3rd for me were kane and lallana, with ederson also getting an honourable mention.
worst of the season was wes morgan, as it is every year. at least he's consistent.

Dele Alli.
He took a lot of stick but he put in an absolute masterclass that day. We couldn't get near him.

Re: Best opposition player at the Turf this season
Kante was very good and did run the game v Chelsea. But when I came off that game I mentioned that he wouldn’t have been as effective had we perhaps played 4-5-1 with Hendrick sitting on him instead of 4-4-2 with both of our central midfielders sitting deep. Kante had all the time and space in the world that game so it was no surprise that he ran the show.

he was only on the pitch for 20 minutes, but Eden Hazard just kept the ball and ran rings around us.

Easily Hazard. No question. On his day, only 4 or 5 players better than him in the world. He’d easily slot into any top side. I’m hoping he’s replacing Arfield...

Spot on. He was excellent, and we didn’t look like scoring at all until he went off. I’d happily look at having him (although I’m sure wages are inevitably an issue)ClaretFelix wrote:Maybe a bizarre choice, and his team were woeful all season, but I thought Kurt Zouma was class when we played Stoke. Hazard,s cameo ....fantastic footballer.
Re: Best opposition player at the Turf this season
Harry Kane all day long. It was liking watching the big kid in the schoolyard. We simply didn't get close to him all afternoon and the goal when he won the ball, got up quickly, played a one-two and finished clinically with his weaker foot was beyond anything else we've seen all season. He showed desire and absolute quality in that moment; more than we saw from anyone else in my opinion.
Special mention for Giroud when we played Chelsea. He was untouchable as well.

Re: Best opposition player at the Turf this season
I personally thought that MCFC in the 1st half played some of the best football I have ever seen at Turf Moor. It therefore has to follow that it was one of their players who gets the nod and it has to be Kevin de Bruyne. Undoubtedly Hazard was the best substitute used at the Turf this season.
