Cricketfield Stand improvments
Cricketfield Stand improvments
Nothing major, just the away team dressing room is being moved.
The first team one will then be increased in size, with a managers office attached.
It is a bit crowded under there for anyone who hasn't been under.
Not sure if this is due to Premier league/ European regulations, or was in the pipeline anyway.
Downside to all this, is we can expect further increases to the price of a twix

Hopefully we’re moving the away one to a portacabin in the car park.

Hopefully not too much improvement, we wouldn't want them to get comfortable.
Besides the whole stand needs replacing. With rail seats as well. We could always use them as normal seats until the time of the enlightenment.

The new disabled facilities and filling in the 2 corners is costing £12m.
Not sure how much of this we have to pay and whether any of it comes from centrally funded grants etc.
Think we will eventually replace Cricketfield as long as we keep our Premier League status. I know the club is looking at this now and has recently obtained quotes for building work, scaffolding etc.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
I spoke with someone at the club 2-3 weeks ago and although no specifics were shared, I was told that there are big plans being discussed to a serious level if we stay up next season. The news about the CFS doesn’t surprise me because of that, although I’d much rather they sort the facia of the club on Brunshaw Road out first.TVC15 wrote:The new disabled facilities and filling in the 2 corners is costing £12m.

Wasn't it around 3m, but I think that was before the Police Box was being demolished and incorporated in the new build.

£12m seems ridiculous, unless we have some super hi tec medical gear in there as well.
Its a shame we can't just factor the disabled facilities into a wider project rather than be forced to rush this in, I believe due to some regulation change deadline.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
£12m is the cost I was told by someone who is involved with the club and has been for many years.
We don`t have any choice in this because of the new regulation and i am guessing you have to build these to a certain agreed specification / standard.
I was also amazed at the amount and thought it was costing about £5m but the person who told me is close to the detail.

Maybe 5m each plus 2m added for the police box would explain the total more or less?

Thought this might have been about the “cattle market-esque” concourse.
Emailed the ground safety officer about it earlier this year. Didn’t even get a reply.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
The layout is nonsensical down there. The longest queue by far is for beer at halftime. The only outlet is right at the bottom of the stairs. So people queue up and then no one can get past to the food outlet or the toilets. Then people either head back through the melee to get to the TV or they stand outside the toilets blocking the way again. It's crazy. Move the beer to bottles and have it outside or at least set up a proper queue system like Watford do in a very small space.bobinho wrote:Thought this might have been about the “cattle market-esque” concourse.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
The board simply can’t ignore the noise and atmosphere generated by the Cricketfield Stand.
It’s often a lot more cost effective to design and build a new stand than it is to attempt to modernise and update an older one. Especially with the changes in law, building regulations and safety since that stand was built.
If a new stand is built it should be engineered around the principles of the current regarding sound. They can do what they like behind and underneath.
Rail seating should be factored into the design planning, so it can be fitted at a later date without too much work.

That is not what I have been told by someone who is close to both the club and also sits on various council committees including the planning one who have been involved in the scheme.ClaretTony wrote:It's costing a significant amount but nowhere near that - it's closer to £5 million.

Mine was 2 weeks ago. You will definitely know very well the person i’m talking about but can’t divulge it on here.
Like I said £12m seems very very high but I am told that the scheme has ended up very different to what the club originally expected / planned for.
Guess we’ll find our final costs at some point in the future.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
Genuinely think they should allocate the whole of the cricket field to the home fans, and give the away fans the lower tier of the JM.
Then takeout odd seats between season ticket holders, to free up space and preferably ask people to move, to allocate a full ticketed only section in the upper tier of the JM. Meaning non season ticket holders could buy pairings of tickets, where as now a lot of the last tickets remaining are odd seats that don't get filled as usually people go to the football with somebody.

The £12m figure will be for more than just the stands - Their will be UEFA requirements - for Officials, Press and Visiting teams that need to be catered for and the club appears to be spending some of this years additional income on upgrading "working facilities" for the players (in just the same way as Dyche referred to the Gawthorpe upgrade and the players lounge/managers lounge at the club) - hence work on the dressing rooms - no doubt we will find out more in the next few days as the video posted earlier hinted

Was just going to say the same thing. 12m will probably be the total cost for all ground improvements starting this summer
Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
You used to be able to get a Twix extra ( big Twix ) for about 50/60p a few seasons ago. They were also part of the Pint and a snack deal, at £4 which represented semi decent value.bartons baggage wrote:WTF is all this twix thing? have folk not worked out that if you buy one before you go on your quids in.
Since we have been making 50m profit a season in the heavy heights of the premier league, the club decided to reduce the size of the Twix to a standard size, whilst increasing the cost to about £1
In it's richest period ever, it seemed the club were doing everything they could possible to maximise profit at every chance possible ( rip off fans in short )
It has since been a running joke ala Andrew Driver, dry powder, touch and go.
However it is a very serious matter, and some of the more passionate fans are planning on coupling our European exploits, with the import of Twix to sell on the black market.
A very risky, yet worthwhile operation.

Re: Cricketfield Stand improvments
Small improvements I would suggest -
*Sort out the drainage by the exit - the puddles can be huge.
*Sell Beer in the kiosk outside - this would move the beer queue further down to allow people to go for a pee.
*Utilise the other side of the entrance (maybe a TV, food stall or bottle bar), it's usually got 25% of the people standing there as opposed to the 'main' side where the Bar / TV is now.
