Championship playoff
Up the villa!
Local enough away game for me and 6 points guaranteed.
Betting odds very close and I must agree with the bookies, I reckon Fulham will nick it.

Either would be a decent away day next season. Can see Villa grinding out a win though

I'm going Villa, Rotherham and Exeter. I'll check the odds later today and maybe have a flutter.

The OP has missed out "The £280 million play off final"
That is according to the BBC.
I wonder what valuation Sky will put on it as they loudly proclaim "the richest game in world football"

Re: Championship playoff
Given the form coming into the game i fully expect fulham to win comfortably
Re: Championship playoff
Fulham a decent away game , a Villa lose will see the end of Bruce
Re: Championship playoff
I'm hoped those 2 were in the final as I didn't want derby or Boro up.
So although I'd be happy with either, if pressed I'd like Fulham to come up.
The only down side is many a game will be Sunday at 1:30, and the potential for a day session/day out decreases with the silly kick off times, and Fulham is a good one.

Wouldn’t mind either coming up so a decent game is what I’m hoping for, but I do like Fulham.

Don't like either of them but the best of a very bad choice would be Fulham.

Fulham dipped off the last few games, but they have been comfortably the best footballing side in the league along side wolves this season. Villa huge club but love the way Fulham play so I’m routing for them today.cutsy123 wrote:Given the form coming into the game i fully expect fulham to win comfortably

Re: Championship playoff
Unreal day out . Got picked up at Plymouth by a father and son that I met through the old site . Met my old man there and never ever thought we would get to the premiership . Got dropped back at Plymouth station and lo and behold there were 3 strapping Sheff utd fans on the platform . I thought my days were numbered as they came towards me . Each one shook my hand and said that we deserved it as we were a proper football club and wished us luck . Top day out

Re: Championship playoff
Fulham please...that would be an excellent away day, especially 3.00 pm on a Saturday...Fulham, Chelsea, Parson's Green and Putney to go at...a really decent part of London with more pubs, cafes and restaurants than you could ever get through..tube station near to Craven Cottage...oh yes

Re: Championship playoff
Fulham will be the only ground ive not done and I love an away game in London. Although Birminghams a surprisingly good day out too. And often work from our office by Villa Park anyway.
Would prefer Villa but wouldnt begrudge Villa after Steve Bruce lost both of his parents recently.

Re: Championship playoff
Either way both more preferable than Derby or Boro. Especially for a day out.
Re: Championship playoff
Villa to win due to Steve Bruce knowing the play offs. You can see the headlines tomorrow if Villa do win, under a shot of Bruce the caption " Good game good game "
Re: Championship playoff
Think Fulham are a much better team but can see the older heads at Villa grinding out a win. I'd rather have another away trip to Fulham to be honest.
Re: Championship playoff
They did used to be, however the most valuble game in club football was being played on the worst pitch with being 3rd game in 3 days.ClaretAndJew wrote:I thought the finals were played in ascending lesgue order 2-Championship? Or has it always been this way?
I agree with this new schedule, as it also allows for the most fans to attened, bank hiliday travel arrangments are hard enough as it is, chuck in 90,000 fans and it's chaos.
Usually only around 20-30k maximum at a league to play off game.
Re: Championship playoff
I think it will be Fulham, they play some really good football.

Villa manager being English is another reason...Dazzler wrote:5 London clubs in the Prem as it is...5 too many....Come On You Villa

I thought it is just the case when there is a Euros or World cup. To give players from the Championship more time to potentially prepare.MACCA wrote:They did used to be, however the most valuble game in club football was being played on the worst pitch with being 3rd game in 3 days.

You're Possibly right.jrgbfc wrote:I thought it is just the case when there is a Euros or World cup. To give players from the Championship more time to potentially prepare.
Just though a championship manager/club complained one season and there was a debate about it.
The rest thing isn't an issue now though as most are in training with their country now anyway. If anything they'll still be sharp having had a few games in the last few weeks.
Whatever the reason, I think it's better this way round.

Re: Championship playoff
I always thought the Champ play off final was the last game of the season as well. Perhaps the planners thought it would be better to have the Champ final followed directly by the Champ league final and make it a great day down the pub. I hope so, that’s where I’ll be watching them both. FWIW, I’ll be rooting for...........the next beer.ClaretAndJew wrote:I thought the finals were played in ascending lesgue order 2-Championship? Re: Championship playoff
Villa will do a job on them and win 1 nil i reckon.
I want Fulham to win as i would fancy us to finish above them whereas Villa could well be able to attract some good players and get on a roll.

Just said that only two Fulham players have played at Wembley before and not one of them was Kev Mc - didn't he play for us in this exact game ?

What a great occasion the playoff final is, the greatest game in football imo.

1-0 to Fulham and cheese.
The crowd sounded nothing as loud as when we scored.
