If I was a Burnley fan, having just finished 7th, I'd be hoping for a better signing than jayrod. His injury record and goalscoring record ain't the best.

Instead you'll be hoping to secure the services of Adam Armstrong again, whilst hoping Richie Smallwood, Bradley Dack & Charlie set peice Mulgrew stay fit.Rayaforspain1875 wrote:If I was a Burnley fan, having just finished 7th, I'd be hoping for a better signing than jayrod. For those who haven't heard of those, it's the guy who know one really knows, a fat bloke from Essex and a chap that scores goals from the Blackburn set peice set up style.

Now f uck off will you, even with this board’s block thing it still clutters everything up

Would be an excellent signing.

You better hope he does move in this transger window, or he'll put your sh1thouse side to the sword... and take great pleasure in doing it too.

Re: Jay Rodriguez 2/5 Skybet
It will be interesting to see if we do go in for JayRod
how much we offer?
Can't see us coughing up 20m+ as some have suggested.
More like 12m plus say 3m add ons.
And then are we likely to match his wages, which according to some Baggie fans I know
is around 70k per week. Albeit if he stayed at West Brom that would likely fall
by 50% - possibly. It depends on what his contract states if relegated.
We certainly need another scorer. Someone who can grab 10-15 goals a season.
JAyrod might well be capable of that if playing in the right team and formation.
Somehow I don't think we'd be too keen to pay 15m plus for someone who in a couple of seasons
might be worth less than 5m. - if that.
No doubt some would argue that his goals might help keep us in the Premiership for another few seasons
and that is worth 250m to us. Therefore relatively inexpensive even at 20m.
It's a tricky one, isn't it?

I honestly think that if Jay Rod came back, he would be back in the England squad within 18 months.

Everything agreed bar the fee from various sources.
We want to pay 12m and they want 20m

Might be viewing JR as an option for several areas rather than a Barnes replacement I would have thought. I don't see Jay, good as he is AS good as Barnes in the current Barnes roll.FactualFrank wrote:But that would mean Barnes loses his place. That would **** off a lot of Clarets fans.

IMHO you'd be better served with a loan to buy young promising centre forward from a top premier league or continental club.

We should be looking at some young unproven European starlets from PSG or Beyern like Jesse Ruiz or Renalto Sanchez.Rayaforspain1875 wrote:IMHO you'd be better served with a loan to buy young promising centre forward from a top premier league or continental club.
No way you go down picking up players like that.

Sturridge was on loan from Chelsea, he scored 8 goals in 12 games there. Did Chelsea then look for offers, no they played him next season like any sane club would.Rayaforspain1875 wrote:I was thinking more along the lines of sturridge at Bolton as a youngster.
Sturridge straight from Bolton would have been a near impossible signing given those circumstances.

Seems like your gonna sign jayrod anyway, so unsurprising you back your managers choice. I just think its dead money.

I think Barnes has just had the season of his life, not sure we can expect 10 goals and the same from him again to be honest. Jay Rod a much better all round player in my opinion.

Re: Jay Rodriguez 2/5 Skybet
Jay Rod is an improved player since he left us,if his return is as successful as Cork's it's money well spent. ,i'm guessing Walters will be moving on soon and possibly Wells so we need a clever forward to compliment our target men.
Re: Jay Rodriguez 2/5 Skybet
Marney and Arfield off payroll, Walters on way, Wells for sure if Rodriguez signs. All helps offset the pay and fee.
Becomes realistic.

Re: Jay Rodriguez 2/5 Skybet
anyone saying Jay wouldn't walk into our first team hasn't watched much of him. Saints fans were gutted and annoyed when they sold him and WBA want to keep him as he was one of their better players. He has the work ethic and has developed a good physicality that would greatly help how we play. I hope we sign him because he's a good player not because he's from Burnley

And with our biggest ever director's/owner's investment still being circa £5m, we still have pots of cash to burn.
But, and here's the best bit, we won't waste it

I’d like us to take a punt on Tammy Abraham personally. He’s the right age and has shown good signs, massive frame and plenty quick.
