Kieran Trippier
Kieran Trippier
This board seems a bit mute regards our old right back, who looks a shoe in to start at the forthcoming World Cup in Russia.
I, for one, couldn't be more proud, noticed last night against Nigeria he was on all free kick duties.
All the best in Russia Tripps lad.

Couldn't agree more. He's a nice lad as well, he had a few dates with my daughter about the time he was breaking into our first team. Very pleasant and sensible young man.

Re: Keiran Trippier
One of the best crosses of the ball there will be in the World Cup - especially when it's first time on the Buddy Holly.
But we need to give him more chances to whip balls in.

In that system attacking fullbacks are key. Just hope Rose is fit to start the tournament, as young is gash there.

Re: Keiran Trippier
I thought the same watching him play, assured on all set pieces and lasted the whole 90mins, good sign. I think the reaction was muted because well, we know he's top class.
He's been unlucky to have such stiff competition in Walker and now Aurier plus a manager willing to rotate week to week. I do hope he nails down a starting place though he deserves it.

Always new he was class but didn't think he'd have the pace to cut it at the very top level. He's certainly made do without it and looks a much fitter and sharper player than he did for us. Glad to see him getting games for England.

When he left for Spurs I said that he would be playing for England within a year.
I was wrong, but only in time.
Re: Kieran Trippier
It would be interesting to see us adapt to the England formation, when i looked at it, it seemed to by a 100% fit for our strongest players.

But the thinking behind that is, why change something like that when we've just finished 7th in the Premier League? Going from 2 central defenders to 3 takes time to adjust.ClaretAL wrote:It would be interesting to see us adapt to the England formation, when i looked at it, it seemed to by a 100% fit for our strongest players.

One of the few that have left and gone on to bigger and better things, would be great if he started in the World Cup,admire his loyalty in getting us promoted again and not jumping ship in 2013,he was one of our few performers that didn't look out of place in our first Premier League campaign and deserved his move to a bigger club, well done tripps.

He was excelent for us though. A real fans favourite. And you are right he is one of the few thats gone on to bigger and better. That said its testament to Lowton (and Dyche) that we never missed him.

Re: Kieran Trippier
Yeah! i meant our 2nd promotion after 2009,he was in the PFA team of the year in 2012-13 and could have had been lured away that Summer, even in 2014 after we were promoted and he was again named in the PFA team of the year,Arsenal were interested but he signed a new improved contract,in hindsight his time spent gaining experience has served him well.cricketfieldclarets wrote:He left when we got relegated. I suspect Tripps was one of those kids who played football out on the streets everyday, even when his mates weren't coming out because it was raining or too cold. Football runs through his veins. Terrific lad.

Re: Kieran Trippier
A real old school footballer that the fans could identify themselves with. He was always last off the pitcg after every game applauding all sides of the burnley support. Genuine passion and enthusiasm for the game in an era where so many players are so devoid of personality they may as well be robots. I said he would play for England one day, and i said the same for Charlie Taylor too, lets hope that one comes off.
Re: Kieran Trippier
He looks a lot leaner these days. When he played for us he always looked on the verge of becoming a bit tubby. Maybe he was Dyche fat as against Dyche fit...
Great player though.

Re: Kieran Trippier
Stood next to his Dad (Man Utd fan) at that game at Ewood, he was absolutely brilliant and joined in with the singing. I think KT has improved so much at Spurs and he is definitely deserving of a start now it looks like Walker will be starting as a centre back. That may well prove to be a stroke of genius by Southgate. I thought it was strange when he first tried it but he has got it spot on.
Tripps will need to be on top of his game though, Trent Alexander Arnold looks to have the making of a very, very good player albeit probably this World Cup is one tournament too soon for him.

Tripps was excellent, a player who got Burnley- probably because of who he knocked around with. Friends who lived near him when he was younger described him like LovesCurryPies- kicking the ball into made up targets on the wall, hitting them perfect every time.
Good luck to him!

Re: Kieran Trippier
When my 8 year old asked me who was the best player I’d seen play for Burnley, I told him there were two: Kieran Trippier and Robbie Blake. I’m well chuffed he’s in there, I think his performance in that game at Ewood was also right up there in the best I’ve seen, along with Blake’s in the Tottenham cup game.
Re: Kieran Trippier
Have him back in a flash. What a smashing player he is and was for us.

Re: Kieran Trippier
Regarding Tripps, he was MOM for me.
Not sure Walker AND Maguire can play together against the better attacking teams. All 3 centre backs have a mistake in them, they need a leader like Cahill.

I don't think he put a foot wrong really, had nothing to do defensively. The penalty decision was soft and wrong imoStayingup wrote:And Walker showed he is not a centre back.

Re: Kieran Trippier
Not sure I see the need to play walker at all. Tripps isn’t as quick but has much better delivery. As a centre back surely Cahill is the better option either the squad they have. However really they missed Ben Mee tonight. A left footer on the left of the defence would have been better than maguire who in turn would be better on the right than walker.
