Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
Conversely, I really like Sarah Millican. Her DVDs are a lot ruder (i.e. better) than her TV stuff.
I wouldn't say he's the worst, but I have got fed up of Michael McIntyre. Overexposure.

Alan Carr and the person who plays Mrs Brown if that's classed as a comedian.

Paddy McGuiness. Although I'm not sure you can class him as a comedian. He tried a stand up once at the Mechanics and I believe it went down like a lead balloon.

James Corden isn't a comedian. I don't believe he's ever done stand up.
I agree that he's not funny in the slightest though.

Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
Another vote for Paddy McGuiness. The most talentless wazzock I have ever seen. Got where he is on the back of Peter Kay. From the current crop I can think of no-one worse than him. Going further back there's Chubby "I use a lot of swear words so I must be funny" Brown, Jimmy Tarbuck, Mike and Bernie Winters and Freddie "Parrot Face" Davies.

Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
All broad comedians... imagine if the likes of Lee Mack or Michael McIntyre one day thought to themselves, "I'm bored of pandering to idiots, this is my new routine" then went on live television and did a stand up routine similar to Bill Hicks or George Carlin, they're reputation would sky-rocket. It'll be amazing.
I can't do with comedians who make observations that everyone makes... a bit of story and a punchline. Alan Carr rubbish... innuendo. Theres nothing is exciting when it comes to stand up comedy on television, its watered down, edited and spoon-fed. Tim Vine - he just says jokes. Whats the point? John Bishop another one. So what...
Another one, I know he's not a comedian, but looks at their TV Guide and sees the name Freddy Flintoff and thinks, "oh, I like Freddy Flintoff, lets watch that". James Corden, another one.... I know your mum likes him, but how can you watch anything he does for 30 mins?! Just watch children television instead, it takes the same amount of brain power to enjoy it.

I always thought it would be funny to do observational comedy, but as a sociopath/psychopath - so the observations would be completely different.
You know when you're hacking up a dead body and the brains go up your nose...that kind of thing.

Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
I've been to watch Josh Widdicombe, and I thought he was hilarious.
Not so much on the shows he appears on like The Last Leg, but stand up, very funny.
Shappi Korsandi can't come out with anything funny that doesn't involve race. And how could we forget Russell Brand. He's cheated a living and should be done for fraud.

1. Mcintyre. 2. Mcintyre. 3. Mcintyre. 4 McGuiness. (Got dragged off to see him live and he was absolutely sh**e. I only laughed once all night and that was during the interval when they showed the old clip about "Tommy Dickfingers" with Peter Kay on the big screen.

No, it was at Manchester arena a few years back. Thousands there, but really he is nothing more than a chap who was having a bit of a laugh with a mate playing basically himself in Phoenix Nights. He's rubbish on his own and he really ain't no stand up imo!FactualFrank wrote:Is that when he was at the Mechanics?

Difficult one this. I actually love Mrs Brown's Boys. Alan Carr is an odd one, he grates a bit and gets a bit pervy and odd but he is one of the sharpest wits around, you wouldn't want to heckle him.Blackrod wrote:Alan Carr and the person who plays Mrs Brown if that's classed as a comedian.

Yet to find any that I actually find even remotely funny.
Except Peter Kay, I loove his programmes but his standup is a bit too obvious.
The endless appeal of the likes of Jimmy Carr, John Bishop etc are so far beyond me I can't begin to fathom why people like them.

That Essex lad Russell Crane. If he was a tenth as funny as he seems to think he is he'd be hilarious.
Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
Actually saw Sarah Millican at Manchester Apollo last week (disclaimer being wife likes her and I went along), thought she was surprisingly funny and totally different to TV.
Must admit I don't find Jack Whitehall even mildly amusing!

Re: Worst comedian on British tv?
Peter Kay. He could have just said, "I'm from the North" once and saved us the last 20 years. Only Ullman can come close in terms of crapness.
Some other good shouts on here though. Corden, Carroll, Howard, Kumar, Millican, Hart, McGuinness, Evans, A Carr, R Brand, Khorsandi...
Worse still though are the token women on BBC shows who are so good I can't even remember their names. Pascoe, Christie, Taylor, Ryan, Walsh, Lyons (thanks Google).

Wouldn’t watch Mrs. Brown or the office and extras but both Ricky Gervais and Brendan O’Carroll are very funny men live.
Perkins and both of the Carrs for me are the pits.
